The California Supreme Court has upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, but it also decided that the estimated 18,000 gay couples who tied the knot before the law took effect will stay wed.

Dee, I agree. I feel like with sooo many places to communicate, I am losing communication. Short little "chirps" here and there rather than settling in with a cup of coffee and having conversation. I get to feeling frantic, or is that FrANTic?
I then feel bad that I am not able to keep up and then I shut down in order not to pop in and seem cold or glib cuz I don't know what is going on.

CRAIG: You have a fake girlfriend?!? We are stricken. Positively aghast that we did not even hear when auditions for this role were taking place.
And who is this Cat Deely person? I've never seen her on the ant colony grounds. With all the ample and willing candidates here in our own "village," so to speak, I cannot believe you had to go out looking for some strange. That is, I mean, some strange creature to pretend to be in love with you when so many of us already ARE!

HEIDI, sweetheart, I love you, and I know you are wanting to do the right thing with the dieting and all, but please believe me when I tell you that if what you are eating or not eating is sapping you of all your energy, then it cannot -- I repeat cannot -- be good. If you aren't eating enough (or enough of the right thing) to have the energy to go about your regular day and you just want to sleep, and you can't go to the gym, then you aren't eating what your body needs to function properly, let alone burn off any spare fat (which I frankly don't believe you have anyhow.)
Please go take a quick look in the mirror (yes, the full-length one) and see the beautiful girl that you are and the beautiful girl that we all see when we look at you. Okay? Okay!

DEE and JEAN and others who worry that they aren't "keeping up" -- do not worry. ANT said Andrew was from the Facebook segment of our colony. There's no reason why you should recognize the name if you mainly frequent NBC or MySpace. I hadn't heard of him before this either, but I do extend my love to him all the same, as a fellow ant.
You aren't falling behind or anything, so don't feel bad or go into hiding or something. I think there are many more thousands of us than most of us realize if we don't make all the rounds (and take into account the observANTs.)
But, as was said, if one of us falls -- from any segment -- we all must rush in with outstretched hands to hold on and lift up.

I had a rough night last night. I am wiped out today. But I suppose a few hours of crying will do that to a person huh?! I am feeling overwhelmed. Decisions being made without my input, feeling like an outsider in my own family, stresses of people at work, and the usual end of the year stress. It is a lot for me....this happens every year. I must say that I do feel a bit calmer today. My eyes are all puffy though so that is an issue. Anyway, sorry to throw this all out there but I needed to "get rid of it" so I can move on.

BEDBUG--Oh my goodness that video was disturbing!! Although, I wonder what the effect of our stomach acids and such would be on the happy meal. It probably does break it down at least some. When I first saw it, I thought it was going to be that they were actually selling 4 year old hamburgers!! I also agree with what you said to HEIDI--you said it with such love, I hope that you listen Heidi! Your health is not worth a few pounds. You can eat and lose weight, I promise!!! In fact, you should eat to lose weight. I don't know if you have heard of the famine gene, but for some people the less they eat, they will actually gain weight. Their body sees that they are starving and holds onto everything they eat as a survival instinct. If you train your body this way, then it will function on less, just as if you were eating more. Heidi, I hope you won't be upset by my saying that, I just really want you to be healthy because you deserve to be healthy. You are a beautiful woman!!!!

((Bedbug)) I have to tell you that my choice of a fake girlfriend did not come without some very deep consideration.
When I first started watching SYTYCD I thought Cat Deely looked lovely and thought nothing more of it.

Then as the seasons progressed I began to see the loveliness that was inside Cat Deely.
I'm sure she is bombarded with people who want a piece of her or steal time away from her life.
I don't want to be that person and thus created the 'fake girfriend' status between Cat Deely and I.

This way I can -sigh- from afar and admire the work she does.

I was considering Craig Ferguson as a fake girlfriend, but then he got married in December. -sigh-

Ginger and Kristen: I wish I weren't so swamped right now with my annual work event. I love travel planning and love to help folks with it. (I used to work at a travel agency one summer! And I worked in the hotel biz a few years.)
The hotel part is really easy, because they have already listed the phone numbers for you and they've even negotiated the group rate. All you have to do is give your name and the dates you want to stay. Done. You have to be sure to tell them you want to book out the block of rooms held for the ANT group.
As for the flights, some of my fave sites are farecompare.com and cheapflights.com and bookingbuddy.com (even the mainstream ones like expedia.com are fine) -- but with ANT highly recommending American Airlines, you probably can't go wrong just checking out their site for the dates and airports you want. It's really pretty easy on all these sites to just key in the to and from airports and travel dates. They have all made themselves pretty user friendly.
(Some you HAVE to book online, but if you are reluctant to do so, most have a phone number and you can call and have a real person talk you through it after you've looked at it online.)
Just make sure if you are going with some bargain flight that you read all the small print. Sometimes you are getting a special rate because you are agreeing to something such as "no cancellation" or something else that you might not have suspected. Just don't click "book it" too quickly before you read the details, would be my best advice.

((CanadianGalHeidi)) I hope the advice does help. Positive thoughts do go a long way to achieving goals.

I have my man back home, the angio showed one coronary artery had a 60% blockage and they don't do intervention unless it is 70% or more so I guess that is good news
he has to make an appointment with a cardiologist to figure out why his heart rate is still slower than normal and if he needs drugs for it, otherwise he feels his normal self again

The only rule involved: no more excuses. The rest is controlling my own impulses. If I don't buy it, I don't eat it. Case closed.

chicken
fruits & vegetables
nuts, seeds, legumes etc.
tea
water
more fruits & vegetables
more chicken

I am not "starving" or even remotely hungry.

No more processed sugar or salt
no soda - ever ever ever! "diet" soda is especially absurd. No white bread, pasta or processed rice.

White flour and processed corn syrups / sugar are at the root of all bodily evil (to me).

You know how the universe often sends you just what you need ... when you need it? Happened to me today. I needed a message.
I called a person that I've never called before and had very little reason to contact but thought I would be nice and extend the gesture (business call).
He wasn't in, and I got his voicemail.
His message, in addition to being sorry he wasn't available and thanking me for calling, was that I should "have a blessed day" and that I should "remember the teapot and the fact that although it is up to its neck in hot water, it continues to sing."
I know! Right? I needed that! I sooooo needed that!
