~
Have a goodnight everyone.

And Hi Heidi! How's the vacation going?

Rest well dear ANT

Good for you ANT!! A few days off to unwind...hope you enjoy the time...maybe plan a nice vacation for the near future? Sending relaxation vibes your way ♥

Aunti T..It's going great thank you...Not looking forward to going back home on the 11th.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, relax and do something fun!

OMG! Hung out with a HAWT EMT today! Helped him choose pants....I HAD to look at his BUTT!! Just a perk of the job! ROFLMAO!

The love is here for you ANT and for each other... and it will lift us up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_7rUWCjK_c

ANT, would you like to see the HAWT EMT BUTT?

Tuesday will be schmoosday.
Hurray!

I am sooooooooo damn happy you are taking some time off for YOU.

As a friend, no one wants to see another friend even remotely appear to be martyring themselves for the "friendship".

You, my Loverly ANT, do not need to feel the weight of "ALL OF OUR FRIENDSHIP" on your shoulders like it is a JOB or a CHORE. NONE of us want that.
Period.
JOY is what is in order.
Pleased to be here is the call.
None of us should ever feel it is a have to or a demand.
Us or you.
Period.

I for one love love love what you have created for us and can not explain to you the gratefulness in my heart about it all, cuz it sounds stupid.

I love you and love the various colonies you have gathered and the people in them.

HURRAY!
HURRAY FOR YOU!
AUGUST is gonna be
a GRAND MONTH!
:o)
Mj

I just want to say that when I am not here....it is because I am really not feeling well.... or am just really down and overwhelmed myself and just don't have anything to give to anyone ...or other life circumstances arise and need attention.
.
You ANT are no less human than any one of us....and you deserve the same opportunity that we have.....to shut down and take a break from here when needed..or to just be an observANT etc... There is no way anyone can be "on" everyday. You just can't do it!
.
We cant always be here.... we have to take time for ourselves.. ...you need to do the same thing for yourself... Take all the time you need to rejuvenate and recharge.
.

It is ironic isn't it how you are so loved by so many ... cyber world and non cyber world yet you say you feel alone...It is all perception in our minds isn't it.... Because you surely are NOT alone......Hope you can remember that!

POP!

Bring me back a souvenir!
:)
oh just kidding.

Sometimes I think a lot of these times in life bring us right back to that cycle which drives the LOA.

One challenge of LOA is to focus upon those things we want or want to project upon the universe.

But maybe a bigger challenge is knowing WHAT it is precisely we want or want to project onto the universe.

For me, that's often the more difficult part of the LOA. Not the doing but the knowing of what it is I really want.

I mean, it's easy perhaps to want a great many things.

But to be more selective and meaningful than a SEARS Christmas catalog of desires - well, that can pose a challenge.

There are so many worthy desires. And yet they are often of such different qualities or importance.

And they sometimes change as life changes.

Gosh, it does all requires real contemplation at some point or another in one's life.

POOF!

Everyone have a wonderful weekend and ANT especially, enjoy some time this weekend.

You are among friends

ANT... take all the time you need... we will be right here with love♥

Bed Bug sleep well!!

G'Night JANINE!! {{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}

KEVIN
I am watching Rachel Ray in Sante Fe right now! Thanks for the heads up. It looks like a fantastic place to visit.

GOODNIGHT EVERYONE
.
I did go for my burger, but didn't get my library book. The library was flooded and was closed! Ha!
.
MRS BEAN- Yes, the library here has a serve yourself and I am in there less than 2 min I swear. I put my car at the front of the library where you can drop off books outside bins. I put my flashers on. Go to my name. Zing my library card and the book and I'm out there. I may try again tomorrow. The library is closed Monday as it's a holiday here in Canada.
.
STEPH - I hope you enjoyed your play date. Give you some fun!
.
HEIDI- I loved your heart and ANT in the sand. Have fun as you've still got lots of time.

ANT- I hope you haven't taken your Crackberry to read posts. I hope you are just veging out or having some fun and no computer. We get so attached to this computer don't we?

All is quiet in the Colony......

testing again

Just poping by before I start packing. It's so much I have to remember to bring with me since I won't get home for three weeks, hopefully I won't forget anything :)

GOODMORNING EVERYONE
.
It's Sat! I hope everyone has a great weekend. I hope you have a great trip to Greece EMMA.
.
HAVE a good day everyone. Back to bed with my head again.

Rest well dear Ant, rest well. love and blessings T

Mornin chickiepoos and boys too!

Random thought.
Bought bananas the other day.
Currently they are 60 some cents per pound, but my grocer had brown bags of them that had bruises, not all black or overly ripe, for 19 cents per pound. Got 29 bananas for $2! Now THAT is a cheap eat at 7 cents per one.
If you freeze them (after peeling), you put frozen ones with some milk and yogurt if you like in a food processor and seriously, you have softserve banana icecream that rocks. I used to also add a bit of splenda and vanilla. Also some ground up flax seed.

Anyway.
Finishing a funeral printing this morning and decided to post a random "banana smoothie" recipe idea for ya.
Why?
Hmmm.
Cuz.
;op

Have a great day everyone!

DAWN--I do the same thing except I park in the underground parking. Or sometimes I wait until my husband wants to go find a book and then he can just pick it up. I cannot be as fast as you are because my boys always want to look around or check out dvds. What drives me crazy is that I will go pick one up and then I get called the next day that there is another one. One week I had to go 4 times, but you can't beat the price! I cannot imagine what I would spend on books if I bought all of the ones I read. A really good one I just finished was THE CONDITION by Jennifer Haigh. It was a very good book, a little romance, mystery, family dysfunction (who doesn't have a little of that)? Take care EVERYONE and thanks to everyone who welcomed me back. I have missed all of you and I hope you all have a great Saturday ♥♥♥♥ STEPH IN OREGON--I have always been drawn to Irish things too. I hope someday to see Ireland in person.

Good Morning Everyone!

BEDBUG Well it is all over..you survived!! Hope it was not too traumatic for you and that it gives you and your Dr. the answers and the help you need.

.
Now... have you washed your hair yet?? I think THAT might be the worst part! LOL
.
See you guys later! Happy Saturday!

MRS BEAN- I have written down your book choice and I will get it at the library. Do you have to pay for the service of them pulling the book for you and email you? We only pay if we don't pick it up within 7 days. I must admit I'm like you I have my name in for 4 books and they all come at once, but not the same day. I do the same thing too with my husband I give him my card and he picks it up. LOL! I hate going out! I'm not afraid to go out, Big Difference. Have a good day and it's so nice to hear from you again.

MRS BEAN- I've got my name in for the book and I'm 9th in line in the que. I'll let you know what I think of it once I've read it. Thanks for the suggestion.

BedBug here! Just checking in. Yes, it is over. Boy am I glad! I don't mind saying I hated it. (It's all perception, and I had my mind made up to hate it ... so it came true.)
And I'm really pouty about the fact that I have to do it again once I am fitted for a mask. But, the first one's over, so no sense dwelling on it. And the second one is a way's off, so no sense borrowing tomorrow's worry for today on that one either.
For today, I am one happy (but very tired) girl! Love to all.

Good Morning!!

Looks like lots of people are "unplugging" for a while! I hope everyone has a good break and get some much needed rest!

BEDBUG
I hope the sleep test got the answers you were looking for.

I am trying to get up enough energy to take the boys to the Farmers Market this morning. So far we are all moving in slow motion!

Have a wonderful, restful, peaceful Saturday.

BEDBUG
You and I were typing at the same time....I am glad it is over. You will be so happy with the mask and how much better you sleep. My husband said he had not slept so well in his entire life. He wears his every night and wakes up so rested! I wish the same for you.

STEPH Have fun at the farmer's market today with your family! :)

Oh no!! hope that HEADY won't say anything for my correction LOL but in my defense HEADY it DOES change the meaning so it's ok :) haha

Alright all you ANTpeeps! I'm outa here. Off to enjoy the day. Have a lovely day everyone. ((Colony))

BEDBUG- I am sure you are exhausted and just couldn't wait to get home. Maybe have a bit of a rest now and then the day will be better later. You are so smart not to worry about the next one. I would be like you though. I'd already not like it before I even got there. Did you sleep at all?

DAWN-- We don't pay ever unless we return the book late. If we don't pick it up in 5 days then it just gets put out for the next person. I hope you like the book. It was a good read for me. For me I love going out but have a lot of anxiety about it which prevents me from doing it. Did you get your burger? ☺ BEDBUG- I am impressed that you have made it through. You are doing a great thing by sharing your experience so that others who may have to go through this in the future will know a little bit about it. Good Luck! I hope they find the answers you need. I am off to shower now and endure the heat. I am so over the heat this summer. Last summer was the hottest on record where I live and this summer is in the top 5. We have a swamp cooler that is not working right and they have tripled repair prices so we are just limping along, grateful for whatever relief it can provide. If anyone has tips on how to cool a house down that does not involve windows and fans I would love to hear them. I have already stripped down to the least amount of clothing in which I can still answer the door or have people over to the house! Is anyone else having the hottest summer ever or close to it?

MRS BEAN- Yes, I got my burger, but it was so noisy with like 20 kids screaming. Then nicely beside us is a couple and the kids are coloring. Some of the parents needed to take a page out of their book. We ate and left and I put cotton in my ears because it was really bad. I'm not being grouchy here. I think even people with kids would have wanted to scream. Needless to say I just wanted to come home. That's how I get this desperate feeling to go home to my space and peace and quiet. I know it's even been hot here this year too. It's cooler right now though so I'm so glad. I'm going to read and then sleep for awhile.

Had a crazy busy day yesterday, paying for it today, hope to still get some things on the to-do list done.

I'm still struggling, hate to admit it, a lot. Whatever I am trying to work out (some I am aware of and some not) is now manifesting as nightmares - not fun.

I am so appreciative of the connection I have to The Colony.

BED BUG - I'm sorry I wasn't around to offer any last minute support to you before you went in. How long will it be before the next lab experience with the mask? Hopefully you will be able to be more relaxed knowing what to expect and knowing that what they hope to accomplish can make such a huge, wonderful, difference for you. It took me several tries before I found a mask that I like (tolerate). If you want to know any of the pros/cons that I discovered during my own journey, just let me know.

Safe, ginormous, hugs offered all around and thanks for being here.

ty for the smoothie recipe, emjay.
~
can ya freeze bananas and then thaw 'em and eat 'em? i hadn't thought about it before.

HAPPY WEEKEND GUYS! I woke up at 10:30 this morning...I spelt 12hrs, man I needed it! Any who doing the packing thing! ANT, if you need to work out a little stress head down the NASHVILLE and I can put you to work! Nothing like a little sweat to clear your mind! And while your here I can take you to see some HAWT EMT HINEY!! ROFLMAO!!!!

Hi Tam
.
You can freeze the bananas and use them like EMJAY said... or eat them frozen.....just slice and they will be delicious....but if you totally thaw them...not good IMO ........ just kind of mushy and not so good....
.
EMJAY ...I do the same thing..only not milk.. don't do dairy! ....I use Vanilla rice milk and add fresh ground nutmeg and cinnamon...really good!
.
You can also use them for banana bread etc...since you have so much!

Just stopping by to say
Have a great Saturday ANT and colony.
*
Hi Steph!
*
scrappysmom I bet it was hard to resist pinching???!!???
*
(sniffing air) Is that banana bread I smell?

Banana bread YUM, Ali-Kat!
.
Scrapps, I feel your packing pain. I'm doing the same thing here. I just wish I had memories of "hawt EMT hiney" to get me through! :)
.
I hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

POP!
steph in oregon - hey, Rachel Ray's travels was a pretty good episode. You know how it is when you live somewhere and therefore know whether or not a show is either on or off the mark? In 30 mins, she captured a lot about the S.Fe food scene.

Emjay - my bananas have been 67 or 68-cents (they went up another penny recently) :) for simply ages and ages now. At a couple of the supermarkets, they even slapped up a sign next to the bananas. At first, I thought, "Oh, here we go...now the bananas...salmonella".

But no. It was actually a rather lengthy apology stating that due to climate conditions in many banana growing countries, they felt bad that the quality of bananas this year has been...well, crappy (The sign didn't say crappy but that's what they meant). :) Well, at least it wasn't being blamed on gas prices.

But I NEED bananas.

Well, because in the summertime I like me'frozen bananas. I dip and squirt them in sugar-free chocolate and even add a drizzle of sugar free caramel to some of them, too. Hell, I have even been nown to sch-prinkle a few shaved almonds onto one or two bananas. And then I toss 'em into the freezer.

What with the bland taste of bananas this year, this MUST be done if they're to be enjoyed. :)

(It's not ME, it's THEM)!

I also saute them in butter and brown sugar for vanilla ice cream.

So as you can see, the banana racket's got me hooked - even in this time of the over-priced, flavorless production.

Dawn/Richmond/BC - So glad you got your burger. Speaking of wild children, I was recently in another supermarket when this child let out a BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM. She was just standing there in the aisle - several feet down from where I stood. She was maybe 6 years of age and apparently was looking for mommy's attention (mommy was standing right beside her but I guess that wasn't good enough). :)

But when she went for another "Blood Bath At Dawn" type of scream, she happened to see me, our eyes locked and she knew I knew that I knew she knew that she was a phony. And we both started to laugh.

So some of these kid are definitely playing some games, I think. (I'll be calling Dr. Phil to collaborate on a book about it later). :)
POOF!

WE are baking in Tulsa today!
.
My thermometer outside reads 110!
.
The car's thermometer reads 114!
.
The time and temp. man on the phone says 110!
.
The weather channel officially
say it is 101! ya right! :P
.
At 10:30p last night coming home from dinner out it was still 91!
.
I hope everyone is doing alright!
.
If you can, please, check on your neighbors, especially the elderly!
.
DO NOT leave your pets outside!
~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~
*heatwaves!
GINGER- Just now when I read your post that you are baking in Tulsa I thought you were going to give a banana recipe! LOL! Sorry it's so hot.
COLONY KAT- I sure get you today. I've used all my spoons up and just got back out of bed at 3pm.
.
KEV- Thanks for helping me go out and get that darn burger! You'd think I was going for surgery or something.
.
Scrappesmom- Oh, packing! OMG! What to take, what to throw out etc. I find when packing it's all the sorting that takes the time. What day are you moving? Good luck with the new place. I'm glad your job is going OK and you are having fun with guys hineys! Ha! Anything to make the day go faster right?
*hugs* me luvs!
yanno, i typed a rather witty comment and i was told i wasn't signed in, even though i hadn't signed out
~
*sigh*
~
this is getting rather tiresome
~
if i don't come back, yanno why and some might praise the colony nerds for that
~
xoxo
~tam~
POP!
~
Dawn/Richmond/BC: Oh, no need to thank me. It was obviously the power of that burger which summoned you to it's side! Calling...calling...calling to you. lol. (What exactly makes that particular burger so good, by the way)?
~ I am happy that you didn't let anything get in the way of you and it's almighty juiciness.
You're so correct that when we keep things at arm's length, that often also includes the good things in life.
~
(And that just ain't right). :)
~
heady - I'm glad to see you around. Are things all cool there now? (And as it's Texas, I don't mean the weather). :) I hope that you're feeling better.
~
steph in oregon - oh, yes, you should try to get to Ireland one day. It's such an interesting country. And it's still one of those places where you can slow the pace, find natural beauty and a touch of drama, too. It's like the "island vacation" for people who aren't attracted to laze-about beachy, balmy islands. There's this wonderful blend of history, natural beauty and mysticism.
~
Oh. I almost died there, too! :)
Well, it's like this: I was in a helicopter over the Aran Isles of western Ireland when some ODD ASS, wind sheer (with murderous intent, if you ask me) came along and, well, not being an aerodynamic wonder, it, like, pushed us down several yards (YES. YIKES).
~
I never liked The Parachute ride at amusement parks and I didn't like THAT, either. :)
But then, once one lands, you get into all the beauty & wonder of Ireland again and forget about the fact that you almost died on foreign soil.
~
(But then it comes back in a post-traumatic-stress-flashback when posting a comment about Ireland at the ANT Colony, of course).
:)
POOF!
here's a colony quiz
~
what is yer favorite fruit?
~
i'm thinking summertime since it's pouring rain and thunderstorms outside - yet again!
~
~tam~
Hello Colony!
Just poping bye to say good night!
I'm off to bed now and tomorow I'll be getting up arly to finish the last things before the trip and then we leave for the airport at 11:30AM. But I will try to come by and say good bye before I leave.
xoxo
Posting has never worked even though I have tried and tried so many times.
Deep breath Ant. The light will show you the way....let it. Sooooo many people care :o)
Tam- If you click on Remember Personal info you do not have to register each time.
.
Kev- Well I guess this Whitespot the burgers are good because they are made fresh. It's called triple O sauce. Hmmmmm maybe sort of like Thousand Island mayo?? I had the works. Cheese, lettuc, tomato, 2 patties and it was good.
.
STEPH- Love Ireland except it's like Vancouver. It rains all the time, but beautiful and green. You could go kiss the blarney stone. I got to do that. I hope your terrible headache goes away. I can so relate.
.
GOODNIGHT EVERYONE. I'm going to watch some TV. The laundry is going.
And what do you know....it finally worked :o) I have been seen, me likey!
quiet time is always good!!
tam, where is it raining with thunderstorms? I want to be there! It's a nice, cool 98 here right now. I'm going to fire the weatherman! He said it was going to cool down to high 80s/low 90s this weekend!
.
Favorite fruit is Kiwi! Right now I'd love a Kiwi Margarita!
Good evening colony!
-
Just a drive by post to say hello!
-
STEPH Hope you had fun at the farmer's market today!
-
EMMA Have a wonderful and safe trip in Greece! Takes lots of pictures!!
GINGER Hope that the weather cools down a bit for you guys. Wow that's HOT for sure!
HI Ygirl.... you HAVE been seen!
XOXOXO Steph
I am rushing around today, but want to send my love....
{{{{{{Neblina}}}}}} I hope Emma is feeling better♥
TAM Favorite fruit I'm afraid that I can't just choose one. I love love Cherries, Autumn Apples, Fresh watermelon, Fresh peaches and nectarines, Fresh plums, Fresh Berries and the list goes on...I don't think I have met a fruit I didn't like...well that's not true unlike Auntie_T :) I'm not a fan of Kiwi but otherwise...I LOVE THEM ALL!!
I better get going (again) LOVE to all of you!
JANINE Yes she is feeling better today. I think that seeing her Daddy when she woke up really helped hee hee
Neblina- I'm like you I love every single fruit. Now vegetables that's another story. I can eat them raw, and pickled,but don't like them cooked.
OHHH and Mangoes Yummm
DAWN I agree there is nothing better then eating a crunchy vegetable and if I have to cook it to eat with dinner I will steam it. No boiling mushy veggies Bleurk! Steaming it a little to keep it's crunchiness it's the best way. I tried those new Ziploc I think that makes them the bags that you can put in the microwave and steam your vegetables in the bag it's awesome when in a rush. I don't like to cook to much things in the microwave but when you are in a hurry it's awesome. I cooked some fresh corn on the cob in those the other day and it was great. I also tried with broccoli and it was delish!
EMJAY I agree cut up pieces of banana kept in a bag in the freezer is an awesome freezer staple to have.
JANINE Bye sweetie! Have a lovely evening!
Thank you NEBLINA!! And yes I'll take lots of pictures and when I get home maybe I can show you guys some of them.
*
Well now I'm off to bed because it's 3:40AM and we are leaving at 11:30AM. GOOD NIGHT
Good night, sweet Emma! I hope you have a wonderful trip. Be safe and enjoy yourself! Bring back lots of photos and stories to tell.
If you guys don't know who KevJumba is on youtube. Check him out he is funny. This video cracked me up LOL
G'nite Emma!
BEDBUG Are you feeling better? I hope that you got the chance to rest today. Were you able to sleep at all last night?
EMMA Can't wait to see those pictures!
Am I having a BedBug moment?? ;)
Good Evening Colony,
~
How is everyone doing tonight?
Well I hope. Where is everybody? Come out Come out where ever you are!...... :P
~
Ygirl Nice to see you posting! And yes you have been seen :)
Alrighty that's it for me tonight!
I'm off to watch a movie with my hubby and cuddle.
-
Have a wonderful evening to all. :)
-
ANT XOXO Good night sweetie.
BedBug please tell us how your sleep study went.
Flash By posting ****
I wish to share some of the unusually cooler summer weather that we are having with those of you having 99+ weather. I am knocking on wood (well mentally anyway) that I am not jinxing myself. We hit 100 plus a few back at the very end of May and the first two weeks of June. My now 8 yo had a Lacrosse tournament the first weekend in 104 temps. The team placed second in the tournament. I am holding my breath to see what the rest of August and September holds for us.
Heidi, I am glad you are having a great time on vacation.
Robin, I am happy that you got through your test and you are right why worry over the next step until it's time and then hopefully you will not worry so much.
Oh I wish I had time to write personal notes to everyone here. Maybe I will have the chance over the next few days. All I know is that skimming over the posts I have become very hungry for some banana smoothies and ice cream with a caramelized banana topping. Oh, this place can be so bad for making one hungry.
{{{{Hugs}}}} to all and
~~~~~~~~~~waving to those who know who I wave to ~~~~~~~~~

The Original Jelly Peanutbutter off to find a banana to go with me.

DAWN
My headache finally went away after I had some strong coffee. Now I will be up all night! But at least my head doesn't hurt?! LOl

KEVIN
Almost dying in Ireland. SCARY!! I would say that would make me have PTSD from time to time! I do hope to get there someday!

DAWN I would love to kiss the Blarney Stone although I am not a fan of kissing the same spot where hundreds of thousands of people have kissed! The weather doesn't bother me...remember I live in Oregon where it rains 7 months out of the year. I rather like it really!!

NEBLINA
We did not go to the market today. The boys wanted to ride bikes and stay home so that is what we did. I am glad Emma is feeling better.

EMMA
Have a safe and wonderful trip.

YGIRL
WELCOME! Nice to see you. Hope you enjoy the company! We are a rowdy, funny, caring, at times twisted, bunch of folks from various backgrounds. Always excited to meet a new colony member...or observANT if you have been watching!!

Hi Steph, Have you seen Ginger tonight? I am glad someone is here.

I have not seen Ginger!

Should we send out an APB??! LOL

GINGER!! WHERE ARE YOU? I know you are around somewhere giggling! I love that...

Woo Hoo...we hit 100!!!

YEAH ME!!

It looks like I am having a "BEDBUG MOMENT!"

No Steph..... No Ginger......
~
No Ants at all.......
~
Busy Ants went to bed early?
~
Hope you all are snug safe in bed.
~
I will keep Gingers crickets company....Are they any good at cards?...dodololodumdittydumdum

Good evening Pammie! The movie was cute. Rent it when it comes out on dvd.
.
I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday. I'll be heading home (back to where I grew up) to my mom's to celebrate the six July and August birthdays in my family. It's going to be a beautiful day for a drive through the Wine Country.
.
Goodnight everyone.

Where are the night owls? All the nightshift has gone out?
.
I'm just saying Goodnight everyone.
.
STEPH- I'm glad the coffee got rid of your headache I think? Wired from the coffee you'll be up all night. ARe you going to school tomorrow?
.
PAMELA- Hello to you. I wish I could keep you and the crickets company, but I've been in bed so much this week that I have so many tapes to watch.
.
HOPKINS- Does anyone watch that show? Love that show.
.
JPB- Hello too you. Yes, I know you as jelly peanut butter. I'm so glad to see you again.
.
QUEEN JANINE- I hope Lily is OK? Please keep us posted.
.
My best girlfriend from Winnipeg was in a car accident on Friday. The airbag deployed and she has a fractured sternum. The car is totalled. All my friends are falling apart on me. My one girlfriend has cancer and now this girlfriend in the hospital. Yikes! Such is life.
.
Thinking of everyone who is ill. Ruptured appendix, menigitis, sleap apnea etc etc. Hang in there everyone.

DAWN
It is 12:15 AM and I am still awake. I should have gone to my classroom and worked all night. I am still sitting here trying to convince myself I am tired. Not working though....so I am off to read. I will be in my classroom all day so I may not be around until Sunday night!

HAPPY SUNDAY to you all! Have a great one!

Hello Everyone!
I just came by to say GOOD BYE! I'll leave in about an hour, I don't know if I'll be able to get internet when I'm there but if I do I'll come by and say hello and otherwise I'll see you guys in three weeks.
xoxo

It's nice to unplug for a while, ANT. I hope you are finding something fun or peaceful during your time away.

Welcome Ygirl!!

Congratulations again to Kristen, who apparently has her finger on the refresh trigger often. :D

Either that or she is the one I need to bring with to Vegas as my lucky charm, can you fit in a carry-on bag?

20 days until your birthday, ANT. Any big plans?

Have a great day everybody!

Hi all.........I was thinking of you and thought I would put a hit on the numbers. Have a great day.

Flash by posting*****

Good morning to all, I hope today brings the new start to a wonderful week for everyone.

Happy Sunday colony! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Especially ANT. xox :)

LOL Lois Lane, I guess I've just been in the right place at the right time. :D
But I sure as hell can try and fit! :P

{{{{{{{{{Steph}}}}}}}}}
Don't work too hard! When does school start? Summer isn't long enough anymore.
Hi Kristen!
Hi Jennifer-JPB
Bed Bug one down... you did it. I am sorry it was a headache. Hope this will be the answer and you can have many good sleeps... although, where will we be with Bed Bug sleeping?

ANT,

I am glad you are taking time out for yourself. I wish I could, but my family would fall apart. The mother is the glue that sticks everything together in the household. I'm sure all mothers, wives can agree with this one. Enjoy your time off.

GOODMORNING EVERYONE. HAPPY SUNDAY.
.
I've got a stupid headache so up for a short while, took meds and hopefully go to sleep for a short while. I want to go to MAD GREEK Restaurant today for roast lamb!!!
.
STEPH- You'll have to tell us what you did in your classroom today. It's nice that you can do that before school starts.
.
BYE for now everyone. Talk to you all later.

LOIS LANE- How long are you going to Vegas for? Is it for a holiday or writing? Will you see any shows? I'd like to see O with Cirque du Soleil.

Good Morning ANT,
.
Hopefully, you're not reading this right now....only because you are supposed to be taking a break!!
.
Even though you're away, I'm stopping by with wishes for a HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY. Thank you for being my friend ♥

JANINE
{{{hugs}}} School officially starts on Sept. 2nd. But I like to get things ready to go in August.

DAWN ...I love the show Hopkins...so interesting and touching..... I just keep forgetting when it is on! I missed it this week grrr....
Sorry about your girlfriends ... and guess for the one ... airbag possibly spared worse injury? I am hoping for a favorable outcome for both!
.
Coleen ....thinking about you! Are you off visiting still?
.
Hoping ANT is having a glorious and soul nurturing day....

PAMELA/FL: I did check in, but you must have missed it. I'm sorry. The sleep test went ok I guess. They must have got what they needed since they let me go. (Six hours of testing is the minimum.) They won't tell you anything, though. I have to make a doctor appointment in 3 weeks. The only kind of tell-tale thing is that she (the monitor) came in after four hours and told me she needed to put me on oxygen to bring my blood-ox level up. And the sticky stuff was like glue rather than gel, but it was surprisingly easy to get it out of my hair when I shampood. I'm just glad it's over for now and that anxiety can go away for the time being. I'll fret over the next one when it's scheduled.

Just doing a drive by, hugs and thanks for being here.

Happy Friendship Day to all my Colony Friends!
~
Fell asleep last night @ 11pm!

I'm not changing my name yet! :D

Happy Sunday!

HELLO EVERYONE.
.
I hope to go for Greek lamb in 3 hours. If only my hubby would leave me alone to do my email. He is in the storage room and that's fine, but every 5 min he wants me to go through a box to tell him what he can get rid of!! Ahhhhhh!!

Just doing a drive-by fruiting!

XOXO Loopy

POP!
Sunday Hi-dee-hoodles to everyone.
Dawn/Richmond/BC - oh, what I wouldn't do for a gyros (well, it's really quite shocking). And I wish your friend all the best.
Lois Lane - If you're headed to VEGAS...Las Vegas...I won big at the Flaming-O (otherwise known as the Flamingo). So, you go in, get more of their money, too. :D
BedBug - If a test is going to be conducted, I suppose seeing some variety of clear result sooner than later might be of benefit to you. Don't you just hate those fuzzy, borderline results where no one is sure of what exactly is going on but let's go into Month 19 trying to find out? If I got something, I got something. If I don't, I don't. Otherwise don't turn a year of my life into being a medical test bunny. I mean, refine your damn machines and then get back to me.
:)
I always say.

POOF!

good evening fellow colonist and special shout out to mr. ant hope things look up for you we know how things can be hang onto faith it works, come back recharged i missed this place was in canada so i hope you all are doing well, take care coleen

Dawn- tell your hubby he's giving you a headache! To leave your things alone! You wouldn't have them stored if you didn't want them! :D
Who gets rid of vases anyway? ;)
I love gyros! :) Hmmm!

Hi Coleen! How was your trip? Did you get me a spoon? I collect em! :D
Are your batteries all recharge?
Fresh as a daisy?

Pammy- Is your daughter home from camp yet?

Hey people!!

Can somebody explain the ALEXA thing at the top of the blog under ANT's message? I clicked on it but I don't get what it is or if we are supposed to do something. HELP!!!

POP!
steph in oregon - the "alexa" thing ranks and provides statistics for the top web sites. Well, for instance, my personal blog isn't in the top 100,000 on the Internet - THUS I don't rate (and therefore don't exist). :)
But our Mr. ANT does! Mygosh, the traffic!
What I find interesting is that while traffic is down at the NBC colony, it's also down for NBC.com in general.
But my personal observation has been that traffic seems down "everywhere".
It's been a really quiet summer on the Internet (well, except for the trashiest sites perhaps).
Maybe people are feeling the effects of the economy?
Or we're all out in our Victory Gardens trying to raise cheaper, salmonella-free produce.
Or something like that.
POOF!

hi ginger sorry about the spoons i will remember next time how about one from maine, have a good one, coleen

POOF!

Fluttering in for a posting.

Yes I am fluttering in on gossamer wings tonight. Why??? Just because I can and I feel like a magical fairy tonight.

Dawn/Richmond/BC - I am sorry to hear about your friends.

Steph in Oregon - How is your classroom shaping up? What do you teach?

SpuddhaKEVT - your poor thumb. I found that 100% Lanolin ointment works wonders for burns. I have used it on nasty burns from getting something out of the oven, the next day there is now sign of a burn at all.

Chriann - I have missed those Smiley Faced Gumballs.

{{{{{{{{Ginger}}}}}}}}} is up all night - Oh how have you been?

Oh and my wings got in the way and created a typo.

In my line to SpuddaKEVT it should be "the next day there is no sign of a burn at all." Silly wings fluttering on the keyboard.

Good night to all.

I had a nice 3 day weekend
First friday if the month ladies who lunch we had skipped the previous month because it fell on 4th of July so we hadn't seen each other for 2 months, one had gone on a cruise to Alaska and brought photos to share that were beautiful. We had to share that my niece had a stillborn baby with birth defects. And we shared the usual how is everyones health this month talk.
Sat. took the train with 18 red hat ladies to San Clemente Beach the weather was perfect Mom ate mudd pie on the Pier I had a salad we had our pics taken then some ladies went shopping and some ladies went to the sand and surf
Sunday (today) took my Grandaughter to the water park and everyone else was there too (seemed like) the lines were as long as Disneyland with the rides lasting the same amount of time with the exception of the wave pool stayed in it for an hour we had a wonderful time while Grandpa slept in the shade. Then we went to Hometown Buffet for dinner and Toni bless her heart fell asleep when we drove home
Needless to say, I'm glad I'm home and I'm a little pooped
oh, and my first pet (in my memory) was a fluffy white cat named snowflake that I would rock (and squeeze) in my child sized rocking chair all the time I remember the purrring the most snowflake enjoyed it
And, for favorite fruit, it's a tie...banana and mango

I teach 5th grade. This will be my 9th year! My room is coming along. I am just about done cleaning out old stuff I haven't used in a few years. School starts Sept. 2nd so I gotta get moving!!

Thanks for the help with "alexa" I kind of get it now! Sorry to hear about your finger! OUCH!

CHRIANN
Thanks for the yummy gumballs. You always know how to make me smile!!

NANCY
It sounds like you had a great night.

I am off to bed. I am exhausted. 3 hours of sleep last night and a full day in the classroom has got me wiped out!

G'Night everyone! Sleep well....
HAPPY MONDAY!!

GINGER- I know I don't have time for anyone these days. I am feeling overwhelmed I must admit. Hopefully this week will be better.
.
STEPH- I'm glad you got lots accomplished in your classroom and hopefully won't have too much more to do. Have a good sleep.
.
Love gum balls and they and the stars and springles etc make us all happy CHRIANN.

NANCY- I'm sorry to hear about your nieces baby. My thoughts are with you and her as well. You have a new angel. I'm glad you had a good 3 day trip. It sure sounds like you like the pool. That's great. Have a good rest.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your niece. It's heartbreaking when that happens. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ginger, I missed you again.

Enjoy Girl your lovely vacation!

CHRIS- I just rewatched all your videos and had a good laugh. I'm waiting for the one you do with ANT and all your friends and his friends in P-Town. How many more sleeps do you have? Craig and I always count how many more sleeps we have until SYTYCD. LOL!
.
GOODNIGHT EVERYONE. I'm going to read my trashy novel now.

Speaking of books, What kind of books do you Ants like to read in your spare time. Myself, any kind of Historical Romance. If it wasn't for John Jakes I probably would of never understood our American History. I think my children enjoyed his books alot more too than their history books. Sure makes it more enjoyable. I would have to Rate it PG13. But he will take you from 1600's in England right up to our present time.
On that, I really mean Good Night!

Dawn - There's nothing like a trashy novel to help you unwind!
.
Pam, I like suspense/crime/courtroom drama. My favorite author is John Lescroart. Crime Dramas that take place in and around San Francisco.

POP!
SoCalNancy - So sorry to read about your niece and her baby.
Really, when people are whining and crab-assing, it's good to be reminder that at least you've been given a shot at life.
Unlike so many others. :)
By the way, what exactly IS a mud pie? I must admit that I have never eaten a piece. I've seen them on menus, of course. They're like super chocolatey-chocolate pies. Right? Is it pudding? I know it's not mud. :) But what the hell is all in there?
Summer reading: I'm taking my copy of "sTORI Telling" with me to Capri. It's taken all I have not to crack it open beforehand. But I think that if I should die in a foreign land, it would be best that they find my body still clutching the life story of Ms Tori Spelling in my Bain de Soleil'ed little hands. Or if I'm kidnapped in some international plot, I'll have some good reading to keep me busy until the ransom money arrives (The colony will chip in to send the ransom money, right?). I only hope that the hooligans (maybe of the Cosa Nostra!) don't tie my hands behind my back - otherwise, a kidnapper will have to turn the pages for me. :)
POOF!

POP!
"reminde-d"
POOF!

NO NIGHT OWLS AGAIN TONIGHT? Come on people it's Sat night and time to boogie!
.
Reading- I love James Patterson books. Some of them are real page turners and I stay up all night to finish the book. I used to like John Grisham, but his last couple I haven't cared for. I always read every Danielle Steel book even though you could read them easily in one day. It's just fun. I love Patricia Cornwall with the forsenic science, but her last one wasn't that great either.
.
Pamela- I do like historical romance novels. Did you read Oprah's last book about medievil times? I put my name in for the book and then I gave up waiting. I find some of her choices quite difficult to get into for me.

Good Morning ANT! It's MONDAY ...the start of a brand new week ...a fantastic week for all of us!! I'm looking forward to it; how about you?
.
Enjoy the your respite from life's stresses. Continue to nurture your spirit and know I am sending {{hugs}} and ♥ your way.

Oh Yes, and I also like any Jackie Collins book. Those are really trashy! Ha!
.
Kev- I don't think I'd read Tori Spellings book. I've seen all the interviews, but hey if you like that it's a quick summer read.

It's not Saturday night!!! Ha! It's the long weekend here and my husband worked on Sat so it feels like Sat to me. OK, Now I know why everyone is in bed. What happened to Ginger, Jazzy, Van Girl etc?? What gives people?? No glitter anymore. No fun!!

Seven more sleeps DAWN!!

One week from today... August 11

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Happy Monday colony xoxo

good morning gang, i hope ant you are having a better day we care for you and hang on, to all have a great monday i am so glad to be home, coleen

Good Monday Morning Colony,
~
1 week from today I will be on the plane heading back to Canada..ugh..I'm going to enjoy this final week even it's making me broke..And today is going to be my first 4/5 hour American Mall Day!..I was worried last night because I had a minor incident in the shower..A "large full" bottle of body wash fell onto of my left middle toe..The same one I broke last year!...The first thing that went through my mind was noooooooooooo I have to go shopping tomorrow and need to walk..lol..It's bruised/ a little bump but I don't think broken.
~
Question about Alexa...It only says for Antcomic.com the traffic..What about NBC or is that same?
~
Another question..I feel like an idiot for asking but even googling I couldn't find the answer..KevT what's a Spuddah? or anyone else who may know.
~
Begbug..Glad everything is ok for now.
~
Hugs comfort and thoughts to all who are not doing well.Thinking of colony members who have not posted for a while.
~
Ant hope u are doing well and enjoyed your weekend. xo
~

Good Morning all! I am relieved to have access to say hello after a long weekend of dealing with a computer that wants to "rest" right now. Looks like everyone managed to pop in and say hello over the weekend. We're off to have another exciting week!

GOODMORNING EVERYONE
.
HAPPY MONDAY
.
I'm going back to bed with my head. Took my meds. My husband needs to go back to work. He is doing laundry at 6:30am. Now I just went to sleep at 3:30am, but he's been in bed since 10p. He's on a clean up kick this weekend. I'm going to put my earplugs in so I can't hear the washer. Today is grocery shopping later on too.
.
CHRIS- Seven more sleeps. Yippee! I'm excited for you! Ha!
.
HEIDI- Enjoy your last week of shop til you drop.
.
CRAIG- I'm glad you have your computer back. I'll write later. Thanks now I can sleep.

Good Morning EveryAntlings!

HEIDI Glad you didn't hurt your toe. God knows a woman needs a good day of cardio (shopping) when she has a chance! Have fun shopping today. :) Enjoy your last week of vacation!

DONNA Good morning That sucks that your home computer rather "sleep". Hope you can have it fixed soon. Vista?? I hope not! Darn Vista!!

WOW Craig too? Sheesh glad to see that your computer is fixed now. Hope it wasn't Vista either Grrr Vista!! Bleh!

So yesterday my allergies really bothered me to the point that nothing was working. My mouth and throat were so dry cause my nose was so congested and my eyes were sooo itchy. Nothing worked! Wow I thought what am I gonna do now?? I tried Claritin, Saline for my nose which only burned! Ouch, I tried reflexology on all pressure points I was suffering from, I even had Nasonex twice. I couldn't breath I was getting nervous now when my hubby suggested "How about a Netti Pot" I heard that really helps clearing out sinuses and cleaning them" and I immediately said YES! I will try it for sure. He went to the pharmacy and picked one up for me and OMG I immediately proceeded to clean my sinuses with that. And I am happy to say it WORKED! I immediately felt better Amazing! I did it later in the evening also and this morning I still have this tiny congestion but not like yesterday. I guess what I am trying to say with this lenghty post is that if anyone is suffering from allergic rhinitis it's amazing to have. I had an allergic rhinitis a few months ago that got so bad (I had tried everything then also) that I had to go to the Dr and got that nasonex spray. The other time it had gotten so bad that I could smell smoke from my nose always and he said it was cause of the allergic rhinitis. I which I had thought of the netti pot then. Well that's enough rambling for a netti pot I guess ;)

Dawn..Thankyou I will :)
~
DR.Donna..Welcome back..Sorry about your computer having to "rest".
~
Neblina...This will be shocking to hear so u better sit down..I have not gone to the gym since I left!..Trying to rest my hip but it's not helping which worries me...
Trust me I need the shopping cardio big time..I feel like a flub and I gained weight but I know this happens when your away from home on vacation. I just wish I was able to exercise more.

{{{{ Neblina}}}} Just because I luved reading your Nettie Pot Post. xo ..Glad it helped :)

And one more thing, the saddest thing is that I went to the allergy clinic to see what I was allergic too and did all the tests and the allergies that I have for my congestion (pnd) and the itchy eyes, they have no idea what they are. He told me that some allergies can't be tested yet and they come from the environment. Sad now that more and more people are getting allergies when they never had some and are mostly caused by the environment. I never in my whole life had allergies before 3 years ago when they started and got progressively worst.

LONG LIVE THE ANT COLONY

Happy Monday everyone!

Is "happy Monday" an oxymoron?
:o)

I am so glad that ANT is taking a lil vaca.
I hope he is anyway!
(ANT! You had better not be reading this!)
I hope he shut off his email along with his busy brain and just "is" for these few days.

I am trying to figure out how to raise the head of my bed.
(to reduce reflux)
It has all those smaller legs under it that make it complicated.
Also.
It is already so high that my dogs barely get up on it with a footstool.
If I raise the head 6 inches, it may really mess with them.
Cut the legs OFF at the foot?
Pondering it.

I wish I could just buy a wedge for under the mattress, but my doc says that makes you bend at the waist and that is the worst for reflux and gives ya a back ache.
(will have to do some googling today)

Anyway.
Happy Monday!!!!!!!

HEIDI Glad to hear that you resisted going to the gym and were able to give your hip a rest. It may have not gotten better in your opinion but look at it that way, it didn't get worst. Maybe if you would have went to the gym it would have caused more "friction" on your hip and joints and aggravated your bursitis. When do you see your PT next time? Did she say that you could do aqua aerobics? Those wouldn't cause strain on your hip for sure and would get the same results as going to the gym. But I hear you about exercises, I love to exercise (I know and NO I am not loosing any marbles! haha) I have always been an active person and I can't imagine not running on my treadmill for my 1 hour run everyday. I would feel as though I have this built up of energy that I would need to release you know. But hang in there Heidi! Ask your PT next time about aqua aerobics!

(((ANT))) healing light for you today.

"Neblina...This will be shocking to hear so u better sit down" LOL I just reread that and what do you think I stand up while on the computer?? of course I was sitting down ;) HAHA *j/k* you are too cute.

BBL or as Donna would say ;) TTFN!

*****Flash By Posting*****

Just fluttering in to say good day to all.

Good Morning ANT and Colony!
*
Emjay, I saw things in the store that will raise your bed. They were sold in packs of 4 though so I don't know if they would work for just raising the top.
*
DR Donna, I didn't know you had a blog. I just discovered it. Very cool.
*
Neblina, glad you discovered the Nettie pot. Isn't that the weirdest thing??? but it works, that's what counts. I'm a life long allergy suffer...allergic to every thing!
*
Hi Dawn and Lydia and everyone else who is out there!

Hi Jennifer!

HI EVERYONE!! The weekend is over :( We only have two weeks until school starts. I am going to miss my boys. I am jealous that you don't start until September STEPH! You probably get out later in the summer than we do ☺----NEBLINA----I can relate to the allergy thing! I smell smoke all the time and drive my family crazy thinking something is on fire. I will have to work up my nerve to try the Netti pot. It really gives me the willies when I watch it being demonstrated ☺ ----DAWN----I love Patricia Cornwell. Her Scarpetta books are my favorites. I also loved her Jack the Ripper research book. For everyone who was discussing books, I love mystery and suspense. I also like heartfelt books that make you really feel something. ----NANCY----You sound like such a fun grandma and daughter. Your family is lucky to have you ♥♥♥♥ ----CGHEIDI---- I hope you have a great time shopping. My husband is going to Boston in November for a wedding. He is missing New England something fierce lately. If he even hears the word wicked he gets all mopey.----COLLEEN---- Glad you are back safe and sound! Have a wonderful day everyone ♥♥♥♥

Alexa isn't a reliable site. The NBC blog only has a rank of just over a thousand. I know this site is more active than that in my visits alone. There are several sites that offer data, most are incomplete. Alexa gave my blog a page rank over 4 million-plus, which clearly is a typo. The best way to get complete data is to have a site meter or two directly embedded in the template.

HEIDI: Neblina has a great point about aqua aerobics for you! And you know what else, if there are any nice chain hotels near where you live that have indoor pools, call and ask them about a pool membership. It's usually unadvertised because they will only allow up to so many to prevent crowding. Locally here, it's ony $25 a month for an individual and $35 per family, and you get to use the pool unlimited hours as well as the tiny exercise room with a bike, stairmaster and treadmill. You really can't beat it, and not many people think of it. It's never crowded except on summer weekends when travel is highest. (This is actually a good hint for everyone, especially if you have kids or live in a place where you have winters and can't swim outdoors all year. It's a very economical way to keep the kids entertained and active year round -- and a good way for those who want to swim but have to avoid the sun or heat to get activity in the summer.) Check it out!
NANCY: I'm so sorry about your niece's baby.
NEBLINA: How awful about those environmental allergies. And I'm afraid those things are causing more than just allergies. I fear that's where a lot of our unexplained cancer's come from. I live in an area that has a toxic waste incinerator as well as a few old dying steel mills, etc. I don't even want to know what I'm breathing, but I can't wait to retire to the desert.

MRS. BEAN: The "wicked"/New England connection? I'm missing what that is. Please fill me in.
KEVIN: I, too, have wondered on the exact origins of the Spuddha, and although I did not Wiki it, I was fairly certain it would not be there, as I believe I once read you were named here at the colony.
My best guess has to do with a cross between Spuds (or potatoes) and Buddha, thereby creating a Spuddha, a Mr. Potato Head God, of sorts, if you will. Please forgive me if I'm off track. No offense is inteded. I just can't figure anything else to guess at.
Will you fill us in on the details?

Thanks for the condolences on my PC, everyone. It SUCKS not to have access at home. But I'll have it fixed soon.
.

NEBLINA - I can't imagine doing that Netti Pot thing, but I'm really glad it worked for you. HOORAY!

.
SWEET PEA - Thanks for checking out my blog. As always, it's a work in progress; basically I end up posting things I see online that shock, amaze, amuse or interest me. Toss in a few family pictures or updates from time to time, and that's about it! ;-)

Oh, and HELLO COLEEN!!! I missed you!!

BEDBUG--In Maine (where my husband is from) and I assume all of New England they use the word wicked as a slang term. For example, they will say that something is wicked when they think it was awesome or it can be wicked awesome. "Did you see Ant's wicked blog today?" It is a good thing and my husband says it a lot and so I have picked it up too. We usually say it with a little NE accent thrown in. We were just watching a documentary on Sundance channel called The Greening of Southie. It was about the first green building in South Boston and the production company was I believe Wicked Productions. I am going to call the local hotels today. I would love to swim without the hassle and crowd of the public pool. Great tip, thanks!

PAMELA/FL

Have you ever read any James Michener books....such as HAWAII or SOUTH PACIFIC ( later made into the play) or CENTENNIAL ( which was mini series on TV in the late 70's I think) You can learn a lot of geography and history from his books as well. He was really good author..... They are fiction but very fact based.
.
DAWN ... I used to read Patricia Cornwell all the time!
.
Don't read much anymore..cant focus on it ...but love biographies ...romance...oh all of it....on down to Nicholas Sparks...how can you not love his sentimental easy reads?? LOL
.
NEBLINA ..I too suffer allergies I NEVER ever had..I tried the netti pot..OMG burned all the way up to my eyes...I must be doing something wrong....It killed me....but hear such good things.... no one ever says it is painful!! I have tried several times..and can't do it... so surely must be doing something wrong...:(
.
HEIDI Glad you are enjoying your vacation and SHOPPING!! LOL Hope toe survives the trip!!

some of you have already been voting. and I'm sure many of you have figured out how to vote more then one time each visit. For those of you who haven't voted...or who haven't figured out how to vote more then once a day...here is a trick.
.
.
I figured out how to post about 20 votes for ANTs spore creature. You go to the web address....click on his pic...click on "I like it" to vote. when that is done...you highlight the web address and hit enter to reopen the main page (just a short cut instead of retyping the web address) when the page opens again you do all the above as many times as it will let you. I've done it twice now...and I get about 20 votes in before it stops letting me vote.

.
.
I don't know how long you have to wait before it will let you start voting again. I did this samething a few days ago...and went back a few minutes later and it wouldn't let me vote still.....I forgot to check back after that until today....and it let me vote 20 times today.. So...maybe it's an hour...maybe it's two days? I have no idea. But we should all do it. It didn't take me more then 2 or 3 minutes to rack up those 20 votes.

.
.

The web address is
www. sporevote. com
.
go vote for our Queen:)

LONG LIVE THE ANT COLONY

Oh, in the pool tip I didn't add that it usually includes a hot tub, too! Bonus! The only thing that I recommend is that if you join a hotel pool (especially if you are going to take children there) that you carry your own test strips kit and once in a while you "check" the water to be sure you are personally comfortable that it's being maintained properly. Some are. Some aren't. You can't always tell by looking with chemicals. It's not a matter of "is it dirty" but rather is it "chemical balanced" and "sanitary." Kids are more sensitive to this and can develop a rash easily if it isn't well maintained. At home you know you are caring for it right, and in a huge public pool, their water turnover is great, so it isn't as big a problem. But in the one month that goes between when a health department checks up on a hotel pool, a lot can go wrong with their water balance before it would be caught. You may just want to go ahead and ask if the person on staff who maintains their pool chemistry is a CPO (certified pool operator). Not all states or health departments require this, but it's a really good idea.

ALI-KAT: Have you watched the videos of others doing the netti pot? That should help. I know Ross did his on a vlog and they did it on Oprah. I also saw some random ones on youtube.com.

Thanks BEDBUG! I did see on Oprah and it looked so easy...but maybe will check you tube. as something not right!
No one would ever recommend them if hurt like this and I am no wuss! :) Thank you for the great tip about the pools..never knew that!

GOOD MORNING!!!

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

We are expecting HOT weather here so I am off to fill up the swimming pool!

...speaking of good burgers, DAWN I had a great one this weekend. Well, half of one anyway. The other half is in my fridge at home. It was called a "Juicy Lucy". They slice the patty in half, so it's two really thin pancake like patties, and put american cheese in the middle, then seal up the outside edge. Then when you cut into it, it's a gooey cheesy puddle in the middle. If there were a way to inject tator tots or some other greasy fried thing into it, I'm sure I'd like that too! LOL

Speedo Wearing Buddha = Spuddha

.
Hi Colony - Hope you have a Great Monday and a Fabulous Week!
.
(((hugs))) to all.
.

Special Prayers Going out for Morgan Feeman.
.
News Flash:
.
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman is in serious condition after a car accident in Mississippi, according to hospital officials.
.

Speedo Wearing Buddha. Okay. I kind of like my Spud x Buddha for Spuddha, but I'm not sure Kev T. will!
Thanks, Ami!
DR DONNA: The best burger I ever had was an Australian burger. Several years ago when I operated a hotel,we had some long-term guests, one of which was an Aussie. As a going away party when they left, they made me and my staff authentic food. This burger has bizarre things on it like a fried egg, sliced beets, pineapple. I cannot even remember everything that was on it, but it's worth Googling.
One thing I'll say, though, is that I'll PASS on the vegemite. Yuckers!!!!

hello dr. donna, bedbug and mrs. bean hello from wicked maine rain rain go away, have a good one, coleen

I had to Google the Aussie burger myself, because I started craving it after mentioning it.
I know it sounds weird, but if the adventurous among you will try it, I promise you won't be disappointed.

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, sliced
4 eggs (fried)
4 slices Canadian bacon (or regular)
4 pineapple rings
4 slices Cheddar cheese
1 (8.25 ounce) can sliced beets, drained
4 slices tomato
4 lettuce leaves
ketchup (optional)
yellow mustard (optional)
dill pickle relish (optional)
mayonnaise (optional)
4 Kaiser rolls, split
Makes 4.

Hi, coleen

I believe the onion should read "sliced and grilled."

I hope everyone is having a great Monday! Mine is a little busier and crazier than usual. I'm hoping it calms down soon, but I doubt it will. The next few weeks should be like this :(
.
You're killing me with all of the burger talk. After being sick for three days last week due to being poisoned by a burger (the 1/4 of it I ate), I don't think I'll be eating one again for a long, long time.
.
Heidi, I hope your toe held up for shopping!
.
Time to head out to my 4th meeting in 3.5 hours. UGH!
.
Happy Monday Everyone!

Oh, Auntie_T, I'm so sorry.
I got food poisoned once at Olive Garden on some kind of seafood alfredo dish and haven't been able to eat there but once in 10 years.

Where is everyone? My boss is in N.Y. so I have a little more leeway than usual to be on the computer, and it's a lonely place today.

Good Afternoon Colony!
~
It is super Great to see so many peeps here on our blog!
~
I miss you ANT! I am sending you bunches of Warm Fuzzies of Love!
~
I know everybody misses you and we hope all is easier for you.

Nothing like regrouping and putting your ducks in order. It makes life much more manageable. And certainly Happier!

Hey Kandyed! Happy Monday to You!!

BedBug, I'm sorry you're lonely today. I wish I could send my boss to NY!
.
Are you sleeping any better now that the stress of the sleep test is over?
.
When I first got sick, a few years ago, I had to do the sleep test thing, but they made me do it at home. I went in for a lesson on how to hook myself up, hooked myself up that night and then stayed awake all night worried that I hadn't connected everything correctly! The results were that I didn't sleep at all :) I knew that wasn't the problem so I never went back and did it in the lab like they wanted me to.
.
I hope it won't be 10 years before I have another burger. I do know which store I will never, ever, ever buy meat from again though!
.
I miss you ANT! I hope the break is allowing you to recharge a little bit.

bahahha I've seen some wicked funny posts here today. The wicked / New England thing cracks me up wicked.

xoxo

mudd pie, I didn't eat any of it but this is what I saw

BSA

Ami ANT, I saw that about Morgan Freeman when I was at lunch today. WHOA! I hope he's okay.

OK. I'm pouting.
So much for a three-week reprieve while I was supposed to wait and call my Dr.'s office.
They just called me!
I have to go on plain ol' oxygen at night immediately. They're calling to have it delivered. And they are calling immediately to set up the CPAP-titration, the second part of the sleep study test.
All I really want to know right now is when they do the CPAP-titration, do you only wear the small nasal thing for oxygen or a mask OR do you also wear all the wire monitors that you wore for the first part of the test?
Nancy? Pamela? Somebody?

Just dropping in to say hello to everybody.
((Bedbug)) I hope all this means you'll be sleeping better at night soon. By the way, I saw that burger receipe - looked pretty good until I got to the "beets" - Beets???

I'm sorry for acting like such a baby. I know there's so much worse in the world, and I just need to get over it. I'm embarrassed. But I can't help the way I feel about it. I'm just so mad. Mad at myself, mainly, for letting it get to the point where I'm sick like this. And I can't help feeling it all traces back to weight gain ... something I SHOULD have been able to control, but now can't. And now, I don't know whether losing weight will make it all go away or not. I just don't want to be like this for the rest of my life. It makes me feel feeble and disabled and old and like I have one foot in the grave or something. And I don't want to be that way. That's NOT me. Well, it WASN'T me. It's not the me I want to be. If this is who I am now, I sure don't want to be me. And I've always wanted to be me.
I think I'm going to "take a break" before I make everyone not be able to help but judge me for how I'm acting. See you later.

BedBug you'll be ok. Wait till it is all done and you feel the diiference. It is like this heavy weight has been lifted of your shoulders. Literally.
~
The only reason they have ordered oxygen now is you need something to help you out till they get you fitted for the CPAP. It all takes a little to get use to, but it will be well worth it.
~
When you go back for your Second Sleep Study, it is to make sure they have the correct amount of litres of oxygen and the correct amount of pressure to the CPAP. Yes you get all the wires and goo. It is the only way they can tell if all their calibrations on the CPAP are correct.
~
It gets some getting use to. Tell the Respiratory Therapist if the pressures is too much. I have a Bi-Pap. Mine has pressure going in but then breathes it back out. That way you don't have the constant pressure. Not everyone is applicable for that. Can't help but ask.
~
Again, wait till you feel the difference. Really is like Night and Day. You will wake up refreshed and roaring to take on the day. Just give it time. Bare with it. {{{Hugs}}}
~
PS. I will hang around the blog if you have anymore questions :=)

BedBug, I don't think anyone is juding you for being frustrated. It's completely understandable. Please don't "take a break" if it's only because you think you are being judged.
.
{{{hugs}}}

(((Bedbug))) Everything will be ok. It doesn't matter what you did yesterday, or last month or last year. Today you are taking steps to do better and to feel better. From what I understand about this CPAP, this is all to help you sleep better and in turn, will help you to lose weight, which will improve your health. So, you are doing the right things, taking the right steps to better health. I'm proud of you for doing so. It's ok to complain to us about it, cuz this whole process sounds like a drag. But just remember, this is all to help you improve your health. So this is a good thing, a positive thing.((Bedbug))-- I'm throwing in some extra hugs! Everything will be ok. Love ya, jojo

PSPS. The oxygen for now will be with a nasal set up. Two little tiny tubes that sit right below your nose. No fuss, No muss :=)
~
The CPAP's come in many masks. Ask them for several types. I have the one that sets over just my nose. It is the most comfortable for me. The Grandkids say I look like I can go Scuba Diving with them. Thay are so funny.
~
You will be sooooo much better!!!!

Just coming in out of the shadows to say hello to everybody! Been having a really busy summer, some fun , some not so fun. We are starting to wind down now that school is only two weeks away, how I wish summer would never end. Each year it just goes by faster and faster. I hope everyone is finding creative ways to stay cool. ANT~~~~ everything is cyclical and the sun will shine for you again. Remember to lift your face towards it and bask in the feeling when it comes.

BEDBUG--It is okay to pout and be mad for a little while. It gets out a lot of anxiety so you can be ready for the changes. You are not annoying just a human who is going through something. You are strong and you will be okay. ----TO ALL FROM THE NORTH EAST or anyone who knows what a whoopie pie is----I really do not like to make these but my family likes them and I saw the new OREO sandwich things and they look like whoopie pies. Have any of you tried them and if so are they alike or do you have to make the whoopie pies from scratch? I love all of the wickeds on here today--I will have to show my husband. He will feel right at home ♥♥♥♥ NICE TO SEE YOU MELANIE!

{{{{{BEDBUG}}}}} It will be ok. Once you start wearing the CPAP and get used to it you will be amazed at how much better you sleep. You will wonder how you ever slept before! Sending much love to you! The burger recipe sounds great too!!

MUD PIE
In Hawaii it is called "Hula Pie" and instead of mocha ice cream they use macadamian nut ice cream. My dad is addicted to it and he will eat it 3 or 4 times in the 3 week vacation to Maui every July with my mom!

I am sending love and hugs to all that need them! I am off to take a nap. Walked to and from the sub shop with the boys (3 miles) and did my running/walking on the treadmill this morning so I am a bit wiped out.

ANT...if you are reading this (which you shouldn't be because you are taking a break...although I noticed you have been very active at the facebook campus adding names to your friend list!!) I can't wait until you are back. Even if it is just a HOLA COLONY. I send love and hugs to you always my friend.

Still here. Just pouting. You all are right. Thank you.
MRS. BEAN: My husband loves the whoopie pies so I bought him the oreo things that looked like it and he said they are a very poor imitation. I've never made the from scratch for my husband, but if you have a good recipe, I would like to make some as a present for him on our anniversary Aug. 17.
(It's the only "whoopie" he's apt to get for a while, now that I'll have to adjust to wearing this very attractive mask to bed! Night time will be POUT time at our house.)
I love you guys. Thanks.
JoJo, your words really hit home. It doesn't matter what I did before. Right now I am trying very hard to get healthy. (((hugs)))

JOJO
Very great advice! It doesn't matter what happened yesterday, last week, last month, or last year. What matters is that you try harder tomorrow.

((Steph)) sending love your way
Mrs. Bean - so good to see you!
coleen - good to see you my friend!
Shoutouts to Pamela, Auntie_T, SoCalNancy, Chris and all the other ants!

Sorry...one more thing before I head to take a nap...

This colony is WICKED cool and I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family!!

Right Back Atcha Steph~~~~~~~~

Hey there JoJo :=)

Major struggling..... Anxious for the dr appointment Wed...... starting down another long path, tryking to hang on to hope that this one will make a difference ....... sleeping waaaaaay too much, can't help it, no option ...... frustrated, depressed, overwhelmed, angry, alone, hurting ugh

POP!
BedBug - (GAK!!!!)
Spuds? Potatoes? POTATOES????!!!! lol. And it's "Buddha" - emphasis on the vast wisdom and not the pot belly (thankyouverymuch). :)
Lois Lane - I agree that those monitoring sites are often waaayyyy off. Like my blog doesn't even exist? lol. I mean, even a faint pulse can be detected by some machines.
But what they can show, despite their broader inaccuracies, are certain trends. And for so many sites the traffic seems to have dropped off during the last 3 months (hmmm...summer vacation time, anyone?).
Mud Pie - oooooh, so it's an ice cream pie (that's so cute). :)
allergies - I never had them until I became a man (I grew into them, I guess). But they don't affect me in the sneezy-red eye sort of way. Instead, it's like a spore hits the back of my throat and I begin to get wildly mucousy. I cough as though I'm drinking a quart of gin while smoking a cigarette.
(Well, basically, my allergies manifest as make me sound like Elaine Stritch).
POOF!

hey jo jo and from the land of whoopie pies i am orginally from ct. so really dont get the whoopie thing or lobster sand. here in maine but each state has its own unique thing right gang and calif. has our friend ant have a great day, coleen

Steph..your post at 1:58 pm... Ditto :)

One more thing I forgot to mention..Can I just tell you all how much I luv Bed Bath and Beyond! OMG I can just live in that place!

Last thing..I promise! ..Good news for Canadians...Bath and Body Works is finally opening up stores in Canada!!..Toronto, Ottawa for now in Sept..It's ok I'm sure Mtl others will follow..I'm stocking up before I leave here.

Whoopie Pie Recipe

1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup cocoa
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
Whoopie Pie Filling (see recipe below)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease baking sheets.

In a large bowl, cream together shortening, sugar, and egg. In another bowl, combine cocoa, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a small bowl, stir the vanilla extract into the milk. Add the dry ingredients to the shortening mixture, alternating with the milk mixture; beating until smooth.

Drop batter by the 1/4 cup (to make 18 cakes) onto prepared baking sheets. With the back of a spoon spread batter into 4-inch circles, leaving approximately 2 inches between each cake. Bake 15 minutes or until they are firm to the touch. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Make Whoopie Pie Filling. When the cakes are completely cool, spread the flat side (bottom) of one chocolate cake with a generous amount of filling. Top with another cake, pressing down gently to distribute the filling evenly. Repeat with all cookies to make 9 pies. Wrap whoopie pies individually in plastic wrap, or place them in a single layer on a platter (do not stack them, as they tend to stick).

To freeze, wrap each whoopie pie in plastic wrap. Loosely pack them in a plastic freezer container and cover. To serve, defrost the wrapped whoopie pies in the refrigerator.

Makes 9 large whoopie pies.

Whoopie Pie Filling:
1 cup solid vegetable shortening*
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 cups Marshmallow Fluff**
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

* Butter may be substituted for all or part of the vegetable shortening, although traditional Whoopie Pies are made with vegetable shortening only

** Marshmallow Creme may be substituted.

In a medium bow, beat together shortening, sugar, and Marshmallow fluff; stir in vanilla extract until well blended.

BEDBUG----This is as close to my MIL's recipe as I could find. I have lost hers and didn't want to call her and tell her. My husband says it is very close. I hope you have a fantastic anniv. with these! ♥♥♥♥ I am checking where I got it so I don't plagiarize, just a sec

BEDBUG!
I agree with JoJo!
I also understand your frustration.
I have been going through alot of health stuff lately and I ALWAYS blame myself and beat myself up for what I should have done, etc.
I hear ya.
But beating on ourselves won't help.
Hard not to do though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyone have a Motorola Razr?
We just got a new cell phone.... a razr V3M.
Take little vids, I GUESS it can store music, has bluetooth, etc.
I am such a non tech person anymore.
I try and read the instructions and all I comprehend is "whu whuuu whu whuuu"...... like my brain sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher.
I don't have anything but phonecalls on my plan (so no surfing the web or even texting). I AM interested in the software that lets you download to your computer and also create your own ringtones etc.
I would also have THOUGHT the thing would have some games in it, but can't find any.
ANYWAY!
Just a random posttoastie from me today.
I am off to help my friend write script for a "red hatter style show". The chick at the store the clothes are coming from SAID she wrote descriptions.......
here is an example of what she wrote:
"Mable is wearing a white shirt and jeans".
HA!HA!HA!
HA!HA!HA!
Are ya kidding me!?!
Can you imagine going to a style show and having the person announcing the outfits as they walk the runway say THAT!?
HA!
Tooooo funny!
OKAY-That recipe was from whatscookingamerica.net--Let me know if it is like what you have had before. Have a great night everyone!
PROBLEM OF THE DAY:
This is a real 5th grade math problem so don't say that a bus has no legs.
There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?
No driver.
POP!
CanadianGal.Heidi - Oh, and so much more. But yes. Essentially that's it.
:)
Oh, and years ago, Bath & Body Works used to make a men's lotion that was out of this world. Well, I won't go into VIVID description of it's effect on the senses but it was woodsy-spicy-nutsy "male sensuality in a bottle" (or pump dispenser, as the case may be).
It was the closest to a particular German cream which I enjoyed but could never find in the USA. But then, YUP!
The American rednecks ;) (JOKE!) ruined it.
They stopped making it because "American men" preferred to smell like a chlorinated pool crossed with just a hint of Pine Sol (or so I was told).
'Never shopped there since. :)
(Ohmygod, I've never heard of a Whoopie Pie - thankheavens)! lol
POOF!
That was fun Steph (I know math isn't supposed to be fun, but it is, so there! :)). I get 10,990. Am I close?
I will "announce" the correct answer at 4PM PST. :-) Good Luck!!!
I get 2758 for an answer
YEAH Heidi! You know my love for Victoria Secret's clothes and everything else! I'm glad that you were able to get some great sales! :)
ANSWER IS:
Each backpack holds 224 legs.
Multiply that by 7 backpacks.
Multiply that by 7 girls.
Add 14 for the number of legs the girls have.
ANSWER IS: 10,990 legs
CONGRATS AUNTIE T!!!! You are part of a very small group of people that have figured that out!!
STEPH My answer is 238 legs in the bus.
OOPS I just saw the answer and thought WHAT?!! Went back and reread the question and I read it wrong. I read that each girl had 1 big cat each so I screwed up there! SHOOT THE BEAR!
Ah well it was fun!
STEPH- Is that a trick question? Ha! I'm not even going to attempt it because I'll get it wrong. Math is not a great subject for me. That goodness for calculators.
.
MRS BEAN- I am so glad to see you posting so often.
OH, can I make it.... it's 6:58 pm EST,...... my guess is the same as Auntie T - 10990.
BEDBUG Just think that now you may finally be able to sleep better and breathe better with the oxygen and all.
Oh you were posting the answer at the time. It took forever to get the post through, I thought the computer froze.
I'm off to grab a bite of dinner BBL to read the posts. I just browsed through them for now but I will be back later.
BEDBUG Great suggestion about the pool thing awesome!
I am a 5th grade teacher and I am sad to say that it took me about 20 minutes of drawing pictures before I came up with the correct answer. Thanks for playing along!!
DAWN
How are you doing? I haven't talked to you in a day or two.
NEBLINA
I laugh out loud ever time you say "SHOOT THE BEAR" I love that phrase!!
I forgot 4 legs to each feline so I ammend my answer to 10,990
CONGRATS JPB!! Correct answer!! You, along with Aunti T are part of a small group that has gotten that correct!
YEAH NANCY!! You are correct!!
YAY! For a brief moment today I was as smart as a 5th grader! :)
Steph... drawning pictures? Goodness. Well I have always been really great at math. I show my soon to be 3rd grader how to do Algebra now already. I mean I show her how she is already solving the same type of problems they just put the different letters in for the unknowns and call it Algebra.
Hello there colonites!! I've been MIA for awhile and just wanted to say hello.
I totally understand where ANT is coming from and I hope that things get better. It's been a rough time for me as well. I recently had ANOTHER miscarriage and last week my cousin died from bone cancer. It feels like everything is just out of whack and I'm in this funk. Isn't life weird? I don't understand sometimes why we go down the paths we do. Everything that's happening is causing issues with my husband and I, and we don't know how to fix it. We've barely been speaking and when we do we just snap at each other. Why does life have to be so difficult? I just wish that we could catch a break once in awhile. Anyway, I didn't want to post and complain or whine, but now I have and I need to go.
I hope everyone else is doing well and let's all send a lot of love out there to ANT. We all can tell he needs it!
:) Rhiannon
{{{{Rhiannon}}}} I have been there and know it's a horrible thing. But like everything else it will heal and life will carry on. I do hope things get better for you.
RHIANNON
I am so sorry for the loss of your baby and the loss of your cousin. You now have 2 special guardian angels. I send love, hugs, and prayers to you and your husband.
renin77, I am so sorry for your losses. Sometimes it feels like we are being tested to see just how much we can take, and it stinks! I hope things get better for you soon.
POP!
I just went outside but got caught in an enormous thunderstorm - blinding rain, hail-sized rain drops (ohmygosh, those could take your head off) and flash flooding in the streets.
So I went around the block and came home. :) Shew.
Rhiannon - it's not "whining" to share life's pains. I would think that acceptance is sometimes the most difficult thing for we humans to grapple with. To truly accept things or conditions which happen in Life. It's a challenge especially when our spirit longs for certain things to unfold in a certain way. But Life often unfolds in it's own way.
POOF!
{{{ Renin}}}} Hugs and comfort..I am so sorry for your losses.
Rhiannon:
I am so sorry about both losses you have suffered, unique and equally painful. I'm glad you came here, and I hope you come back to read the responses as ants offer you comfort.
I am hopeful you can try to sit your husband down and tell him that you can both make a choice here to either turn away from each other or cling to each other, expressing to him how very much you WANT to be able to turn to him and have him turn to you. I know that's difficult at a time when neither of you probaby feel very capable of offering support, but even just having each other to hold onto will make a difference in how you get through this.
In any event, we are here for you. Please don't be a stranger. The love here will help bouy you up.
Rhiannon
I had a miscarriage, and got pregnant 5 months later and had my very healthy son. So you might have the same good results
SORRY, GOT called to a major medical issue by long distance. I'll have to write later. I had so much I wanted to say to everyone. Now my husband is waiting for dinner. He bought a barbequed chicken at the store. I'm just adding to that. I'll have to email way later or tomorrow. Sorry everyone. Thinking of all of you with medical issues etc. STEPH- I'll have to get back to you tomorrow. I can't cope today.
((((RHIANNON))))
I'm so sorry for your losses. Give yourself time to mourn your losses and your husband also will need time to do that. Sometimes you don't need to talk just going up to him and giving him a hug and hold each other for a while speaks 1000 words. Try to communicate with each other how you are both feeling about it all that is so important to let each other know how you feel and try to find the way to communicate better and heal together in this. One of my friends she had 6 miscarriages and although I don't know the pain you are having I can only imagine. My friend, they kept trying again and she finally had a baby boy and a little girl 2 years later. I am sending you healing light today to you and your husband. ((hugs))
(((renin77))) sending love, comfort, hope and hugs your way.
POP!
My mother experienced three miscarriages before she had me.
:)
So fabulous things can sometimes follow what is tragedy.
