Good afternoon Ant, Richard and colony. I am so glad you seem so much better today. I am happy too. You know I don't get around too much so Corey does a lot of outside things for me. One of them was to pick out a new phone for me. You see, I am a Sprint Customer and have been for 5 years, well my contract was just up and when I renewed it I got $150.00 towards a new phone. Now mind you, I liked the other one just fine, but a new one was like getting a new toy. So I told Corey what I was looking for, he works for Radio Shack which handles my Sprint account, and he called me and said pink or black, and I chose pink. He brought it home and I loved it. It has big buttons that make a nice sound when clicked and it shows the numbers large too. Corey is really good at picking out things for me, so all I had to pay was $30.00 for the phone. It was actually $225.00 and I got $150.00 towards it, and a $50.00 rebate and the new phone cost me $25.00 plus the case for $5.00. Now that is a deal. I really like this new phone. :o) I am just excited to have a new toy! :o) Yay!!! for new toys!!! :o)

Ronniegirl, I am cheery because my mother is cheery. We are celebrating her life and her right to die. She is ready, I am ready, though I know when she leaves I will cry again. I have had a good cry as I held my dog. I am all done at the moment and she wants us not to dwell on it, and so I am not. Our conversations are upbeat and I talk to her several times a day. She is a great woman. I love her so much.

Whatever it is: I have not been on lately I have had a ton of things to do mostly Homework with the kids just over checking them and making sure they are doing it correctly. Just wanted to pop in and share my day. I went outside to see how much snow damage my flowers sustained and there were 3 baby deer in the yard.

Fortunately the front yard, so the dogs didnt see them. They just hung out in the yard while i gardened for about 10 minutes. It was awesome.

And after that snow it is now 70 degrees today. LOL..good old Alberta. It is beautiful today. I hope you have a moment like that today.

My left index finger has its own "issues" (its had a difficult year this year). And moving things all about the room while packing isn't helping it any. THIS is a time in life when one wishes that one were Samantha (you know, Stevens) so you could just twitch a nose as to get things into boxes.


After a while, my left index finger begins to feel exactly like what it is - if you snipped your finger where it meets the palm and then stretched the skin down a little, trimmed off a millimeter of that skin and resewed it all up.... Hey! Not unlike Joan Rivers face HAS GOT to feel after Facelift 16!

Oh, I'll live through it. If you have a Gabriel Brothers store around you, they will have the Hanes and JustMySize very large sizes for women in "rejects" shirts for just a few bucks, but you will really have to look carefully at each one for flaws. It's not easy shopping but it's worth it, if you are near the store. Or perhaps a Value City?

HEY ANTS! I finally broke down and sent an email to NBC Technical Support.

Here is what it said:

I post to both ANT and Ross’ blog.

I am in Mountain Time. I understand that the blogs are on Pacific Time. This obviously accounts for the one hour time difference.

There are times, however, that my posting time stamp appears up to 20 minutes behind my actual post time.

This has been discussed on the blogs, and in fact, there have been times that ANT has noticed the same thing occurring to him when he posts in the comment section.

This is an issue because the ordering of the posts do not show up correctly because the time stamp is off for everyone.

I have personally tested with both Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox, and both exhibit the same behavior.

As a result, this seems to be a server side issue, not a client side issue.

To see this issue in action, please review the comments section of ANT’s blog, looking for postings that simply say TIME TEST. Notice the minutes posted by the users do not match the time stamp of the blog entry.

BedBug ant: YEAH! I saw them. :) I had to sign up and that immediately took me to the page which has all your thumbnail pics and the slide show option. Gorgeous vacation. Wonderful shots. What kind of a camera was used? Very crisp zooming. :D

AMI ANT: My Speedos (and the bits of me contains within) are safe. Oh, I could knock into furniture with it, I suppose. But I think what happens is that the "Pamela Anderson Syndrome" kicks in at some point in life. So rarely do you hear about that woman knocking into things no matter how big she makes those knockers of hers. (Realistically, it doesn't even make sense to call them knockers). Maybe sub-consciously, I'm not as careful with my toes and hands as I am with other parts of me (like my Speedos). I just don't know. I...just...don't...know.

Hello Ant Colony!

Well it has been a beautiful day here in Southern California, where the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, Nancy is reading my mind (hehe :)) and I went out to this canyon I go to when I feel the need to commune with nature (it's actually the very canyon where I spent every waking hour horseback riding for 15 years!) It's like a Secret Canyon, it's so beautiful, towering trees everywhere one looks, gorgeous flowers and shrubs, beautiful horses, Spanish style houses slathered with trees and shrubs and bamboo. One house even has a lawn on top of it! Hehe I love this place, it brings me a lot of joy to go there. It is a second home to me. :)

If the TIME STAMPING doesn't work, maybe AMI ANT can IDENTIFY each trivia selection by LETTER? Like Trivia Quiz "A" - and then EVERYONE who plays would add the "A" to the top of their answers. Simply put a time limit on it and everyone time it accordingly (10 mins or 15 mins for each game round).

Then of course as you go to another trivia quiz round, everyone put a "B" at top, "C", etc.??

It might not do anything about the TIME STAMP or order in which answers appear but it would at least make it EASIER to find them, follow along and ultimately score each game.

I just got thru talking to Momma and I couldn't go over today because our car is sick and we have to take it in to the shop on Monday, but she understood. So we talked awhile and she told me of her concerns for my sister who doesn't seem to be handling her pending death very well. I think because I have always been so open with Momma about death, her suicide talk and all, I am more prepared for it than anyone else. There is nothing I can do to alter the fact that she has cancer riddled thru out her whole body and I am thankful for each day I have with her. We do a lot of when we were younger talks, or I listen to her life and I do so enjoy listening to her. I know she wants to go be with Uncle Howard and Aunt Dot so badly. I want her to go too. I don't believe we just turn to dust when we die, but our spirits move freely among us and sometimes they hang around. Momma has always felt that Uncle Howard is near her and once she swears Uncle Poochie came to her in her sleep and woke her up to tell her where the money was that he had hidden. He didn't believe in banks. He said he buried it under his dog's house, so Momma told his daughter, but Kay said she wasn't interested in his money. They didn't get on well. Momma didn't go after it either, she didn't want his money. She would rather have had him. She said when Uncle Poochie spoke her name she sat straight up in bed looking at him at the foot of it. I don't know if it means anything, but I have been dreaming a lot about my grandmother, my mothers mother, a lot lately. Grandma seems to be selling her house and things. I mean she is taking her house apart and selling it piece by piece and Momma and I are helping her. I don't normally dream about Grandma, though I adored her and I still miss her. I am wondering if there is a meaning to these dreams. I mean I remember her selling the decorate iron bars off her windows to an old boyfriend of mine in this last dream. I am hoping Grandma and Big Daddy are waiting for her as she believes Uncle Howard, Uncle Poochie and Aunt Dot are waiting for her. Part of me wishes I was going with her. I know it must be so much better to where she is going and I will miss her so damn much. Crap I am crying again. I got to go.

RCC: My gallbladder surgery was the best thing I ever did. (And to think I delayed it ONE YEAR because I didn't want to have to have surgery.) Oh, the pain I suffered before I gave in! The surgery was a piece of cake. Quickest recovery time on record. Nothing compared to the pain of a gall bladder attack. Good luck to you! You will be well in no time at all and you can kiss that gall bladder pain goodbye! (My 18 year old daughter had the surgery a few months ago, too, and also said it was no problem whatsoever and very glad she did it. Teeny weeny litle scars that have practically totally faded.) Best wishes.

Oh, speaking of shots and high school memories, I totally was just jarred by a funny story. When I was 18 I was in the hospital for the first time ever. They showed me how to push the nurse call button etc. if I needed anything. I pushed it during my stay when I developed a high level of pain and wanted some relief, and the nurse didn't show up but instead her voice came over the speaker in my room, "Can I help you?"
"Um, yeah," I answered loudly. "Can I have a shot?"
Well, you could hear the entire nurses station and half the patients on the floor erupt in roaring laughter after I had placed my "bar order."
My very prim and proper mother, who was sitting in the chair in my room nearly died of embarrassment when the chuckling nurse came in with a hypdermic needle and asked, "Is whiskey okay?"

Another funny story from my youth:
I waitressed once for three days. A friend owned a Chinese restaurant and had to appear in court for three days during the lunchtime rush. She only had one employee, a Chinese-only-speaking chef. She couldn't afford to close. She talked me into filling in. She did not offer any tips for communicating with the chef, who only smiled no matter what I said. And she didn't show me how to work anything, like the complicated to refill pop machine.
There was a lunch buffet, and it was my saving grace. Every lunch patron placed their order, and if they ordered anything other than the buffet, I responded, "You should have the buffet." If they persisted, I answered, "You really should have the buffet." The second day, the pop machine needed more of something or other to make the pop fizz, so no matter what anyone ordered to drink, I said, "You should have the water." And then, "You really should have the water."
It was pathetic, but she didn't have to close and lose money and I'm sure all her customers were VERY happy to see her when she returned.
I suppose that might be where I got my inspiration for how to "help" Ami tonight --- my take it or leave it spirit traced back to my Chinese waitressing days of old.
Hope I didn't offend anyone. I only meant to help. Then and now.

good morning ant and colonist, this will be my last post for awhile leaving for canada in a few min. to celebrate with dad on his thanksgiving, just a little story about my first turkey meal i stuffed the bird and felt a hard item in it so i checked it and it looked like a kernel of corn so i thought of no it was what the turkey had for his last meal, so i pulled out the stuffing and removed everyone of those kernels, only to find out they were butter pellets inbedded inside turkey, needless to say we had turkey jerkey glad no one noticed i left the gizzard and neck in too. so i think i better let my sister cook do ya think, have a great week colonist i will miss ya, coleen

I went to the ER yesterday and the doc said it's my gallbladder and all of my other innards. He called it Gastroenteritis, where all of my digestive tract is a swollen mess. FUN!


No clue how I acquired such loveliness. But apparently, if I stay on a clear liquid diet for a few days, and reintroduce food slowly, I should be A-ok.


My mother, the self-proclaimed doctor insists he is wrong and thinks within two months my gallbladder will need to come out. Is anyone else's mom like this??

Been years and they haven't done anything yet. It IS Frustrating. So far wasted my money, I think. I have no idea why they (Drs.) make us wait soooo long. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh Drat, I forgot all about Trivia last night. I feel horrible for missing out on all the fun. I just had so much to do.

Dear AMI Ant I have tried the yakacchino w/ extra squirt of foamy yak juice - with a special swirl of the foam to get a yak in the glow of a sunrise for a few days now (I thank Kevin T for sharing so generously) - but I am now feeling in the mood for something more seasonal. Could I change to a standing order of Warm Witches Brew w/ a dash of toad's drool and topped with some bat's milk frothed.

Oh, thanks to all of you last night who inquired about my various appendages and had such nice things to say about them. They're feeling much, MUCH better this morning. I guess I just wore them out yesterday.


Oh, yeah. I'm talking about my finger and toe (for those just joining us) :D


My finger is feeling soooo much better. It actually needs its "sleep" I have found. Maybe I should design a finger cozy so that it can sleep during the day? I could slip it on and rather like a (very quiet) parakeet, it could get in some zzzz's while I'm doing other things.


Lois Lane ant: so sorry to hear you've been plagued with these intestin-O things this year. I ain't no doctor but yogurt, too, is usually quite good for the whole digestive system doo-dad thingy running through us. Why even my dogs benefit from a tablespoon of the stuff (so you just know that its GOT to be good!). :)


AMI ANT and all: congrats on what looked to be a very fun and successful night of trivia. And thats despite the time stamping/display order problems!! Why, I swear, if this were NASA and not an ant colony, AMI ANT could bring in the space shuttle despite there being a sunspot blocking out the radar equipment!!!
