Vegas, Baby!

Jay put up such huge numbers on the scale last week! Not only did he help lead his team to a resounding victory last week, but he won Biggest Loser of the Week. And what a great reward! It was so cool seeing all those boys in blue head off to Vegas for a night. They really have bonded – and are just as tight as they seem on the show. And they had an awesome time – who doesn’t have fun in Vegas? Gotta admit, I’m impressed by how much they worked out while they were there, not sure how many times I’ve worked out while in Vegas.

What is crazier than those tattoos? I told Dan I don’t envy him having to show his mom that ‘guardian angel’ on his arm. I guess I’ve never been much of a tattoo person. It’s not really my thing. A bunch of the actors I work with at Days have tatts. It’s such a pain for the make-up dept to have to cover them up in scenes, and you can always sort of see them anyway. So I guess I’m biased. Lol.

The obstacle course was pretty tough, right? The black teams fate seemed sealed when I saw Roger grab like 5 sandbags in each arm to hustle them up to the blue table. Uh huh.

This week the teams were all hyper-aware that this weigh-in was going to make a huge difference in the outcome of the entire game. Four vs four, the elimination was going to put one team at a huge disadvantage. And neither team wanted to be in that situation. Mark is right – he’s lost so much weight, that his numbers aren’t going to be as high as he needs them to be to stay in this game.
The emotion, the heart and the team spirit these guys showed in the elim process was really special. Now you know why I love these guys. They are such tough, honorable men, and I really admired the way they handled such an impossible situation.

I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve had a pretty hectic schedule, including some travel that made it impossible to post. But BELIVE ME, I have had some SERIOUS feelings about the last couple episodes. As I think was made clear tonight, Mark is NOT a bad guy. From almost the very beginning, I totally relate to how competitive he is, and I understand how that can overshadow other sides of his personality that we all saw being on campus, but don’t come across. Just as an example, here’s a side of Mark you didn’t see on tv.

The very skilled (and nice) caterer at the Biggest Loser prepares very delicious but not always healthy meals for the crew. The cast eats in their house, separate from the crew, of course. And normally, I eat before I come to set, but when I’m there, I can usually find a fish, or chicken dish that is reasonably health conscious. One night, however, I was left debating between pasta with cream sauce and chicken dumplings. I couldn’t even have the salad because it was a Caesar salad. So, the lightbulb went off (this would be the perfect place for a Days of our Lives style ‘flashback’ to the cooking challenge, lol) and I hiked over to the contestants kitchen to scrounge around and find something healthier for dinner.
Who was there to save the day? Mark!! He happened to be walking by and asked what I was doing. I explained my predicament, and he offered to make me dinner. I didn’t want to put him out, but he insisted he had nothing else to do and wanted to do it. So… I said “yes! I would love something healthy!” especially now knowing how delicious Mark’s cooking is (the scallops were perfect, according to Rocco)! And it was DELICIOUS. He made me a swordfish filet and vegetables. Perfectly cooked and the perfect portion. I had to ask him – what’s the deal? You clearly enjoy cooking, and you’re great at it… why didn’t you do this at home? We talked a lot about how life and family can get in the way of your health before you even realize it. I ended up hanging out with Mark, Jay, Dan, Brittany, Roger, Jillian and Jackie for a while that evening and we all had such a good time. It was so much fun to just relax and chat without the cameras rolling.

(p.s. Amanda, I shared your post with Mark. He really appreciated Trentin's support, and was so happy that you posted. He asked me to relay the message that he'd love to write him a note if you want to email me your info privately, go to my website, Alisonsweeney.com and u can send me a private message there. I'm happy to be the messenger! thanks for watching!!!)

Hello!

I was wondering if when you have time (if that ever happens), if you'd mind writing something about your feelings about Days of our Lives. I really enjoy reading what you have to say about the show and how your day is when you are working there.

Thanks

I love reading your thoughts about TBL - last night was great btw, but I'd also love to hear what you think of Days these days.
Are you as outraged as many of your fans are about the damage being done to Sami's character integrity by having her willingly involved with her rapist? As a woman, I find that whole storyline deeply offensive, and as a Sami fan it has me seeing red. I'm happy to hear that you've been busy travelling. Perhaps that means that you'll be on Days less for awhile - at least until Lucas is back and this disgusting rapist/victim romance stuff stops.

I think you are absolutely right about Mark. Last night, during the debating about who they would eliminate, I saw a side of Mark that hadn't been shown. I really admire him for making the decision he did and thought it really illuminated that side of his personality. He wasn't my favorite contestant (C'mon, who can resist Brittany?) but I was genuinely sorry to see him go!!!

I'm going to geek out here a little and say you are a wonderful host for this show! I have been a devoted Days fan for a looong time and it is so wonderful to see the growth in your character there and how wonderfully you interact with the contestants on Biggest Loser. And I disagree with anonymous...I love, love, love the EJ/Sami storyline!

Hi,
In last night's show (when the blue team was telling Bob about their trip to Puerto Rico) Dan said he would take Bob with him if you said no. Did he invite you to go on the trip? Would you go presuming you were allowed to?

Do you ever blog about DAYS anymore? ;)

Hi Ali,

Glad to see you blogging again. Tuesday nights show was a tear jerker. It was sad to see Mark go, I just loved how competitive he was. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Keep up the good work!!

Farah

I was disappointed with that reward challenge. It was CLEARLY stacked in favor of the blue team. There's no way the Black team could have won that. I think you could have sat Mark out entirely and the Blues still would have come out on top. Doesn't seem like a fair competition.

I just wanted to let everyone on the blue team know that on this week's episode 2/25 when Mark was voted off my seven year old son cried. I mean all out crying like he had just lost his best friend. I just wanted to post this so that maybe Mark will get to know that there are kids across the US that look up to him. If you could let him know this please, I had to promise my son I would write this. Tell Mark, Trentin in nw Florida says go blue!!!!

I am enjoying the mess out of Biggest Loser and feel so attached to all of the contestants. I can imagine how close everyone feels to the others, you could see it in the Blue Team. What a bunch of wonderful guys! I can't believe Mark is gone. I will miss him and look forward to the finale. No doubt in my mind that he will win the at home prize!
PS - I totally disagree with anonymous. I love you on Days and never see you perform better or look hotter than you do opposite James Scott. I am not an EJami or a Lumi. Just a Days fan. I look forward to your upcoming scenes on Days. Bet you are thrilled to hear Ari is coming back. Any info on her story?
Love you in all you do!

I was quite angry at the last challenge, it was totally unfair to have those women pitted against the big strong fellows, lifting a 200 lb. tire. Of course the guys won! Let's see how good the guys would be in a challenge which doesn't require strength!
P.S. Also, why does everyone call E.J. a rapist, I feel as though he gave Sami a choice, sex or Lucas dies, but it's not like he forced her physically. Probably feel that way because I love James Scott in the roll and Lucas is a whining little wimp.

I have to agree with what so many have already said--I Love Love EJ and Sami! He has a past like everyone else, espcially sami! I just love the cat/mouse game that they play and ultimately I would be so happy to see them together and Lucas gone for good! I know that sounds bad, but like the other person said--he is so whimpy! Great job on BL !

What happened to Mark's foot? The show never really talked about he injured it, or maybe I missed it. It came up when the blue team was "looking for a volunteer" to leave the show.

Why couldn't sheeat a ceasar salad?

I hope that Sami ends up with EJ than Lucas. If Lucas was a real man, he wouldn't have shot EJ and waited for Sami. EJ may have hurt Sami, but deep down, she's in love with him and always has been. You're my favorite actress. Sami needs help with the twins; EJ's there to help. Where's the happy ending? That's what the make-up sex is for.

Hi Alison you are an awesome person. I hope I can be as healthy as you are and loose my excessive weight that I have put on since having my kids. Your personality is one of the best I have seen. Your friend Stacy

You inspire me and I hope to be like you with my family and friends. I want to be healthier and live healthier.

Ok, this is my opinion, and it won't be popular: Mark left on his elimination day not because he was making some grand sacrifice, but because he had no choice. He'd given his word. He tried to go back on it, and he took crap. He (finally) came to a realization that what he was doing was crap, and I honestly think he knew that if he stood his ground, he would be next, since it would have pissed everyone else in the house off, and the only one he could count on supporting him would have been his brother. Since he's returned, everything he's done has been done to strengthen his position, not because he's being magnanimous...but because he wants to WIN. He realizes to win you have to avoid elimination and you do that not just by losing weight, by not pissing people off. I think that lightbulb finally went off in his head: If people like me, I won't get voted off. It's not that he's turned over a new leaf or that he's a better person, it's game play. Pure and simple.
