Thanksgiving
Meeting Jerry Rice and Steve Young was so cool. They are both really nice guys, and so enthusiastic about being part of the show. Steve introduced me to his wife, and she is a really big fan of BL. Steve said when he mentioned to her the opportunity to appear on BL she immediately demanded he do it! It was really cute.
But of course, being from LA I don’t know a lot about the NFL. So, before I met them, I was texting and IMing with Kyle Brandt (former Philip) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) about Jerry and Steve. I asked them all sorts of questions, and got tons of info about their careers. They both helped me out, and of course, couldn’t believe I was going to be meeting them. Better than that – I brought Ben with me that day. We were shooting that challenge on a Saturday, so Ben came to enjoy the afternoon on that beautiful campus with me.
And Steve Young taught him to throw a football!!!! How cool is that? Someday, I bet he’s going to love that story. I got a couple cool shots of them in action too. But all in all, it was a pretty spectacular day.
The saga continues with the all the drama in the house. Vicky pulled the same strategy twice and won both the football drill prize with Steve and Jerry, and the NFL challenge, so she and Brady are going to the Hawaii in style to see the ProBowl. Pretty awesome prize, and I’m glad they really love football, that’ll be so cool for them.
There were some pretty incredible numbers on the scale this week. I mean, shocking. Amy has done so well all season, not only does she look great, she was the ‘biggest loser’ in the house so far. And to lose 5lbs and still fall below… that’s a tough blow. Also, because looking back on the first few seasons, how hard it was for the girls to lose weight… but now, how everyone has been hitting pretty impressive numbers, pretty consistently, it really is amazing. But obviously it was not the outcome Amy was hoping for… I’m sure she was hoping/expecting to not fall below, as she’d been so consistent throughout, so she wouldn’t be relying on Vicky’s vote.
But that’s the thing about reality tv. You can’t change the outcome. As Phil (Season 4 Phil) always used to say on the scale “it is what it is”. And believe me… there are times when you’re watching things happen, and you just know what the outcome SHOULD be, and then it doesn’t go that way and there’s nothing you can do.
I’m so happy to see how fantastic Amy looks now. And how cute was her dad? I love Shellay too. They are cute mother/daughter duo. And I can’t wait to see them at the finale.
Can you believe the finale is COMING UP!!!! Dec 16th. It’s going to be amazing to see how everyone looks, the changes they’ve made in their lives. Keep watching!

p.s. for those Days fans – I TOLD YOU I was going through a pickle obsession phase in my pregnancy!! Yes, that was the one and only time I actually drank the pickle juice. But man, it was worth it. (if you’re reading this thinking what the hell is she talking about, see back to my blog about pickles.)
I can bareley get through an episode watching how caddy Vicky is. Unless things change next season with more positive people and players who are truly there for the right reason, this will be the end of my time watching the biggest loser!

I agree with Dave A. I watched this season because I heard how inspirational the show was. I am totally disgusted and will not watch next year if you have any more people like Vicky or Heba on the show. I would rather eat ice cream and gain weight than watch this type of negative TV again. Tell Bob the trainer why he is there.... to help his team lose weight, not try to have them bully the Black team. I love Michelle and Rennee and if they go so do I!!
I thought the thanksgiving show was just ok. Vicky once again made a fool of herself and the show by tanking the challenge. She better be gone soon or I think the sponsors are going to start pulling some of there ad money.
I think Bob is getting too wrapped up in the "game" as well. Just seems like the only reason that he is there is to push them to lose weight...not to influence the other parts. I think this happens though because the trainers get to watch the weigh-ins. I think they feel a lot more attatched to everything.
I knew that Vicky was going to send Amy home when she got the chance...Amy should have sent Vicky home last week. But, Amy looks amazing and I'm glad she is doing well. I'm glad that Renee and Michelle were safe though. Can't wait to see everyone at the finale! And on Days I noticed the pickle juice and just giggled when you busted out that pickle juice. I have to say that I really feel bad for Nicole though and the situation she is in :0(

Vicky needs to go pronto. I'm praying that Renee & Michelle stay above the yellow line next week so that the blue trio is forced to turn on themselves.
K2 & Bry are definitely the ones to turn to when you have sports questions. Bry's like a walking encyclopedia for that stuff lol. Still missing Lumi on Days, but hey, at least Sami isn't shacking up with her rapist, so that's an improvement. Now we just need to prove that all of those kids are Lumibabies!
I love BL but have said this before...I wish there was more focus on the exercise and eating habits and less on the gamesmanship. I know every season there's a "biggest loser" who has a bad week and gets eliminated and given Vicky's gamesmanship, I wasn't surprised at the vote. I'm guessing that Heba and Ed will soon learn that their alliance isn't as strong as they thought - didn't Vicky give Heba a football during that challenge - before the black team was eliminated?
And, about Days, I must admit that I deleted four weeks' worth on my DVR, and now have another four weeks stored up. I can't really get in to the storyline, although I do read spoilers and message boards and stay current that way. I'm afraid that the spoilers/cast changes I've read about will be significant enough to cause many long-time viewers to stop watching. But, that's what TV is all about - you win new viewers and lose other viewers, and, hopefully in the long-run, the show will still be a success.

Vicki better not be the biggest loser in the end or I'm done with this show.....I love it - been a faithful fan.....but someone who acts that way and treats people like that...should in no way be rewarded with $250,000. Win by manipulating and bullying?? This show always been so above that.
Hi Ali! Thanks for blogging. Hope your pregnancy is going well and I bet Ben is extra excited to be a big brother. I watch both the shows and enjoy them thoroughly. Keep up the good work! Personally, I get how people feel about Vicky (& I share their feelings), but I realize it is just a game. It just makes us root for the underdogs! Go black team!
Vicky and Heba are ruining the show for my family. We love the show and have been faithful viewers. The crap that both of them do/say is making this show like so many other reality shows. I am sad to see that Bob is focused on the game aspect... all about the blue shirts. Just think how enjoyable the show would be without Vicky and her drama.
Alison, you have always been my favourite actress AND character on Days of Our Lives. I started to watch Days when I was 12yrs old and I'm 27 now. It was a dream realized when I visited the NBC Studios in September 2007 and had that mini tour and got to just peak at the big Days studio sets. After saying all that, the only reason I'm still watching Biggest Loser this season (I've watched every single season) is because of you. I dont want to be watching it because of rude contestants on the Black Team. But thank you for your objectivity- it brings a freshness to the show and it badly needs it right now.

I agree with others; I can't stand Vicky and Heba. If Amy hadn't voted off Colleen (my favorite) I think that Vicky and Heba could have been gone; Amy really had to swallow her mistake. As for Days, I am currently frustrated with story lines but what can you do, it's just a show.
I'm sick of Jillian yelling and screaming all the time. I think that is all she knows how to do. If that is all there is to being a trainer then I can be one too.
I'm sick of Vicky as well. I've decided not to watch this show anymore. It is petty and mean.
During the finale when the blue team members come on stage I hope the audience doesn't boo them. Silence, no applause would send a classier more resounding message. Vicky is just a vindictive witch and game play only comes in when it suits her.

If Amy would of voted Vicky off, Coleen would of had her back and then one by one the blue team would of been gone, and possibly we would have Renee, Michelle, Amy and Coleen in the finals.
I don't know what the hell Vicky was doing acting all afraid of jumping into the pool. What does she wwant people to feel sorry for her. Vicky made a huge mistake by not voting for Ed. He has so much more weight to loose.

UGH! Ok, Agreed, we are all done with Vicky & Heba and their BS, but Ali, it's because of you and the trainers that I watch the show BL at all! Honestly, I never watched until you started hosting. :) Thanks for blogging about it and giving us insight as to your thoughts to what's going on. Keep us posted as to what's going on with DOOL too... I heard a nasty rumor that the show is being cancelled... say it isn't so!

I think a lot of game playing is taking part this season...more then normally. I myself would really like to see a show focus on not losing weight fast, but how about a show "Those last 10 - 20 lbs" for those people who don't need to lose that much, but are getting frustrated by not losing those last few pounds.
I'm so happy that these people are losing the weight and making a difference in their life...but I would really like to see contestants from every previous show come on and have a "look at us now session." I know personally, I was questioning myself...are there born athletes or can you become an athlete after participating in an 8 Hour Adventure Race this weekend, I still have those few pounds to lose and would love to see how they maintain or keep up the motivation, as I personally need to lose those last 20 lbs.

Vicky & Heba may have controlled everyone on the show but they can't control America!! I voted for Ed - and would have voted Vicky off if given the chance!!

Please screen contestants besides their size, it will be a cold day in hell I watch this show again after the vicki effect. NBC you had a good thing going before you let this southern mess on the show.
