All vs One
The Yellow Team
Wow. What a turn around. Last week they were below the yellow line, and in one week the Yellow team turned it around to win the weigh-in. And on the heels of that success, they get the majority of the votes from the other teams as the team they would most like to vote out right now.
Now, a word about that. Let’s all agree that BL isn’t the kind of show that would just send another team home for no reason. So each team had to go off by themselves for a couple minutes, and speculate about what we were going to do to the team they picked. I would have done the same thing, trying to outwit the game. But sometimes you can think to much. I mean, I sort of assumed the teams would vote for the Black Team. And, actually, I don’t know why they didn’t. Everyone likes Mark and Jay, they are great guys, but they’ve been the obvious threat from day 1.
I felt bad for Kelly and Paul because they didn’t have any time at all to enjoy their reward before they were handed the unsettling news of being pitted against the rest of the teams for the whole week. Not an easy task. Even with Jillian focusing exclusively on them. Which by the way, I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Jillian and Bob both, are unbelievably tough in group settings. One-on-one? Watch out.
It was amazing to watch Paul bound across that balance beam in the pool. (How hilarious was the gong they kept playing?) He was cautious the first lap. Maybe even the second… but he quickly took the lead and never looked back. And never gave Kelly a chance, either?! She told me she kept trying to get a chance to do it, but Paul was on a mission – which would serve as a foreshadow to the weigh-in, he was determined to show that the Yellow team could beat the group.
And Kelly looked so torn up about giving their prize to the other teams. It was an extremely generous decision, as well as a politically wise one, but Paul seemed to be truly focused on his goal and not interested in the distraction. Kelly seemed much more upset to give up the letters, but she didn’t hesitate to agree with Paul when he made the offer. And the other teams, seemed genuinely taken aback by the offer. They were truly overwhelmed to know they’d be hearing from their loved ones, thanks to Paul and Kelly. They’ve been away from their families for a month now, and I can only imagine the toll that takes of everyone. Hopefully the letters will inspire them to stay strong and focused on their goals.
Once again, I was pretty surprised by the decision at the Elimination. Black clearly avoided the noose by winning BL Team of the Week. Without that immunity, Paul made it clear at the weigh-in and at the elimination table that the Yellow teams vote was going to be Mark and Jay.
There was obviously a lot of strategy and gameplay going on all week. And while Kelly seemed upset by some teams coming forward during elim with how they’d ‘taken it easy’ which ultimately helped the Yellow team secure a victory at the weigh-in, they have clearly formed tight alliances with certain teams.
please
Well Ali, last night surely was a twister. The 'water fountain chatter' at the office today was confirmation of my opinion that people watch BL for inspiration, leadership, and determination. Me and all those I know who have enjoyed BL are disappointed in the direction the show is turning.
People today are inundated with drama and those viewers who watch BL watch to see the success of the cast members. Those allegiant viewers want to draw from that inspiration and inject into their lives. As a fit, 'in shape' man I watch to celebrate the successes of their efforts and every week I run to the gym directly after the show to spend an hour on the treadmill. Last night ..... I wasn't inspired to go. I was instead bummed that the show accentuating the drama not the success. I see them lifting, sweating, guttin' it out, and facing the issue head on (wtih the help of excellent leadership).
Those who are overweight watch for that too. I believe BL can be the catalyst to transforming thousands of lives that NEED to be transformed.
I hope you and those involved with the direction of the show will take my remarks (which are actually the remarks of all those I've spoken with too) and use them constructively. NBC and BL are on the cusp of a pioneering movement within television..... don't lose the momentum.
Keep up the good work.
Best regards, Michael
Hi Ali,
Last nights epi was definately interesting! I thought the gong sounds were hilarious, too. I am happy for the Yellow team. They really pulled it together. I am disappointed in some of the other teams for throwing the weigh in. Especially after Bob warned them about it. Especially disappointed in Brittany, I didn't see her that way. I could've seen it out of the orange team, though. They are gonna be in sooo much trouble at their next workouts! I don't think the pink team deserved to go home, they did not cheat in anyway. They had a great week. I do feel that the purple team should've been the team to go.
The pink team looks amazing now, and I am glad they kept up with it. It will be great to see them at the finale.
You do a wonderful job hosting and look forward to seeing you every week.
Take Care ~ Tracy
P.S. I have to say that I had to chuckle at Bernie's dog's name ~ Santo! LOL (I'm a proud FL member!)
Hi Ali,
Last nights episode was definately interesting, I am kind of disappointed in the direction the show is going. Teams are focusing too much on making alliances rather than losing weight.
The purple team should have been voted off this week. The votes should be based on who lost the least weight or who fell below the yellow line, not who people think the biggest threat is. I truly believe keeping people that are a threat is better than voting them off, having those people there should be motivation for the other teams to work harder. Motivating them to say; "Hey, we need to be that team, so lets work extra hard to get there." Even if that means taking the initiative to go above and beyond, such as getting up extra early to workout, just like Paul did.
After falling below the yellow line in the second week; Yellow team has proven they deserve to still be apart of the game. Hopefully they can keep it up! Way to go Yellow Team!!!
Keep up the good work Ali, I look forward to watching next week.

Ali I am one of your biggest fans, from Days to The Biggest Looser. I love both shows and watch faithfully. I am kinda dissapointed in this weeks show though. The wrong team was sent home. The purple team is turning out to be such a dissapointment. I really thought they were motivated, considering they are so young. It seams like they are not doing what Bob and Jillian are trying to teach them or they just are not doing what they should be doing. Lord knows that I really can't talk. I need to loose at least 100 lbs my self and that is why I joined the club. However sending home a team that was obviously working their butts off and keeping a team that is not is just wrong in so many ways. I think the pink teams after photo to date is great and they have helped inspire me. Watch out all you other teams. The black team is on the loose and I am not too sure the other teams can catch up. I love this show and appriciate all that I am learning with The Biggist Looser Club. Allison you also are such an insperation to me. I have watched you since day one on Days and have seen your transformation. You are hot girl. (I say that as one woman to another. Don't any one get the wrong idea) I am proud of you and I am sure your family is too. Thank you NBC for bringing such a great show to the air waves. It is great and an insperation to those of us in the same boat.
Why can't TBL be about the weight loss and not about the gameplay? The viewers are more intereseted in seeing the contestants being taught how to eat properly, how much they actually exercise. What they are actually doing. Why make it about something more like a game. It already sucks that the people who need the most help are sent home first. But why make it worse with all these stupid games? And allowing them to water load before weigh ins with no consequences? I am losing my desire to continue watching this show. It used to be motivational but not any more.
I must say I agree with most of the previous comments. I am extremely disappointed the pink team got sent home, they are really the only ones I was cheering for. And I agree the show is is focusing more on "drama" than on the task at hand. I watch it to get inspired and keep me motivated and to learn. Truthfully, I've been quite bored with it lately with all the dramatics and manipulation.
I think that NBC just keeps looking for gimmicks to get people to watch, and this show was another gimmick. I think that NBC forces the teams to gameplay...they obviously form very strong bonds with everyone and get very emotional about voting others off. I think that the voting part should get cut out of the show. I have always thought that the show should be about being the Biggest Loser, and eliminating the team that is below the line seems like it stays true with the idea of the show. There should only be one spot underneath the line and that team should go home for not working hard enough. Which means that the purple team would've gone home a LONG time ago. If the voting was eliminated, it would give the show more time to focus on weight loss tips and nutrition segments and stuff. Fix the format NBC!
where is santo dimera and colleen brady and is john colleen's son?
hi ali
Last week was my all time fav!!! I love the Yellow team!! Yes the 'gong' cracked me up too!! I love the show, love the twists but last weeks show did get a little overboard with new stuff (Black team getting immunity when it was never anounced before...(sounded kinda made up at the last minute-ish...)
The water loading thing is getting out of hand, I think viewers are getting kinda miffed by it. I know alot of viewers have actually tried to get on the show (myself included) and it just seems like a slap in the face to not have a rule around it or a penlty or something that gets the message out there that it's not healthy and it's not ok...besides just the look of dissgust and imbarrisment on Bob's face (last show/purple team).
You're doing a great job hosting the show!

Hi Ali,
Just saw you on Jay Leno. You were just lovely. Sweet and funny! Loved it. I love you on Days and loved you as the young Colleen. You and James deserve an Emmy. Love the on screen chemistry that you and James have. Can't wait to see what happens to Sami next!
Next week's twist: Sami is Marlena's daughter by Jack no. 3. Ha. here's my latest recap, all about Paul, Kung Fu Master: http://wadeonbirmingham.com/2008/01/29/weight-and-see-the-gong-show/#more-1470
HELLO BIGGEST LOSER CAST OF STARS !
greetings from Toronto's Biggest Loser ! .. yuup... I am such a huge fan of this show.. and wanted to thank you for influencing me to also start a much needed ‘ Life Style’ change!... On January 1st 2008 I started my Big Plan… joined a gym, and changed my eating habits. I started at the obviously obese weight of 365 pounds.. 8 weeks later I have lost 37 pounds ! and now weight 327 pounds. Yeepee.. !! I look forward to every weeks results ! and in my books you are all BIG WINNERS ! ..
I for one really know how hard it something like this is to do. I have set up a ‘ Wendy’s BIG PLAN Fan Club’ Group on FACEBOOK… and have over 50 friends and family all supporting my Big Plan.. I post my weekly weigh-in on the Facebook group site.
My advice to all you women that are out there that are thinking about losing weight.. I think it’s really important to make your project PUBLIC ! let absolutely everyone know you are on a diet ! … then it makes it harder to go off it ! like me, posting even my weight on a public space like Facebook, all of my supporters are asking every week for my present update ! Like the show the Biggest Loser, you have all gone public with your task, therefore you need to own up to your task! Its really great incentive eh?... ( our Canadian word . EH !) Good luck.. and I’ll be watching this weeks segment !!
