"A Bridge Too Far"

Was I right or was I right? Seriously – this season is just incredible. Filled with amazing people, incredible stories and true courage. We started shooting in September. Right after my birthday, I shot the visit to the hotel where I told them they were going to be part of the next season. And truly, it was such an emotional day. Meeting Joelle and Carla in person!! They are truly bigger than life personalities. Right from the moment I saw Tara and Laura sitting there waiting to hear the news, I knew Tara was tough. She means business. Nicole couldn’t stop hugging me. Her is so forthright about her love for Damien, and their relationship is so wonderful to see in person. I loved them right from the start. Sione and Filipe did this amazing Tongan dance for us in that tiny hotel room, it totally got everyone ready for their battle – Biggest Loser style!

Jerry’s faint brought reality home to everyone. Contestants, trainers, crew alike. It was a harsh reminder of the seriousness of what they are facing. Especially for the younger contestants. Mike and Dan, still in their teens, have never been thin, and I think for Dan it brought to light exactly what he was heading towards. Estella is truly a remarkable woman. So strong and determined.
The challenge on the bridge was one of the best I’ve ever seen on the show. It was literally a photo finish. Watching Aubrey break into a full out sprint to try and beat Dane had everyone holding their breath. BL can no longer be called unfairly judged towards men. From day 1 you can see the women are going for it, hard core. As are the men. And given the last two winners are female, it is clearly anyone’s game! Who are your favorites to win?
9 teams faced an incredibly difficult decision. And I wasn’t the only one completely caught off guard by some of the decisions. As scary and emotional as it was, they all embraced it as an opportunity to prove to America – to you all watching at home – what they’re capable of. Like I said, they are truly an inspiring group of people. I am so looking forward to you getting to know them.
Just for clarification, I should explain that we began shooting this season in mid-September. Obviously, I was much less pregnant in these first episodes than I was at the finale! So, you’ll see me growing over the next few months. I am actually due in about a week! Ack!!! With production schedules and then the holiday rush, I seriously haven’t even bought diapers yet. My Dr had a firm conversation with me about how second children very frequently come quicker and earlier than first, so I shouldn’t judge by Ben (who was born on his due date! Very prompt child!) and I should have my stuff ready to go to the hospital any day. But even with 9 months to think about it, (she’s kicking me right now as if to say ‘yup! I’m coming, mom!’) it isn’t really real to me yet. Ben seems way better prepared for his baby sister than Dave and I are. Lol. Is that normal??!!

Ali

Happy safe Delivery to come Ali, I miss seeing you on DOOL. Enjoy your time off and looking forward to the New Season of BL.

Great show last night....I really liked all of the contestants. I felt so bad for Jerry, I hope he does well in the competition. Estelle was a rock during the whole fainting episode!

Good luck with the impending delivery of your little girl. Second kids often do come quicker, so heed the drs warning. The good news is that it's much easier adjusting to the new baby the second time around cuz you know what you're doing! Hug! Amy

I enjoy your show, but have to say did not like sending home 9 people. I thought with so many couples in need of getting help, that all should have been kept the first two weeks to see what they all can do. I know we will get half of them back, but i still am against the decision to send so many home the first week.

I love yours show but sending 9 people home was a bad mistake exspecially in the first week

I really want to wish all the contestants good luck and to heres to better health! I want to seen a special not to daniel and david, Daniel especially I want to give you all the encouragement i can because im a 37 year old who is 323 pounds and hon it doesnt get any easier it just gets harder if you dont lose the weight. So all my prayers are for you to lose this weight! and you CAN DO IT! You will have to fight harder than all the rest but just think of the out come a new better life! and what I just said to daniel goes to everyone YOU CAN DO IT you just have to fight hard and no give up that was my problem i give up to quickly so ya'll keep fighting.
with lots of love martha yard

Good Luck, Alison!! I hope you and the baby are okay during the delivery!! We will miss you on your maternity leave from Days!! I hope when you get back we will have EJAMI back together!! EJAMI is endgame!!

~ Jen :)

Ali
Congratulations i hope everything is going well and hope to see pics of that little one soon. God Bless

I love the show, and I think you do a great job Ali. But, sending 9 contestants home the first week was brutal!

Hi Alison,
god bless
congratulations and may everything go smooth for you in your delivery
Keith

Allison
1 week left, yahoo!!! I'm sooooo excited for you to welcome your new baby girl into your family!!! I'm anxious to hear what name you and Dave have picked out!!!! I watched the season opener last night of BL and it was a great one especially when you threw in the 9 people going home loop!!! I'll admit I don't watch BL faithfully each week but, I do watch the first and last shows to see the amazing changes. I hope you get everything done in the next week you need done before your new baby girl makes here debut Allison!! I'm sending my best wishes for an easy and uneventful delivery. Enjoy your time off from BL and DOOL!!! Cory

Hi Alison,
Good luck with helping everyone lose weight.I can use your help too.Can you send me some info of what I can eat being on a diet while taking warfarin?
god bless,
Keith

I guess I'm in the minority here but I think sending all those folks home was inspired. Those at home will work extra hard in preparation for returning in thirty days and those on the ranch have to work extra hard to bring their loved ones back. I was also pleased to see more ethnic diversity in the new contestants. I'm looking forward to getting to know all the players, especially the boys from Tonga.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

Good luck on the upcoming birth of your daughter. I hope everything goes smoothly.

I can't wait until Sami gets back to Salem. It'll be just in time to hook up with Lucas. We're in dire need of some LUMI lovin!

Hey Alison,

Congrats are in order for making the Biggest Loser the must see show.
You are definitely invested in everyone that you cross paths with.
The show has never been the same since the day you took over for Caroline Rhea.
Keep up the amazing and hard work...you're doing us all proud.
Good luck with your little girl...we can't wait to see your new little bundle of joy.

I sincerely hope that there are enough people complain about the cruelty of sending 9 contestants home on the first episode, that the show will reconsider this decision. WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU THINKING!!!!!!!!!! The biggest looser is one of very few shows that I watch on a regular basis and I really have to say that what happened last night almost makes me not want to even watch the rest of the season. I in fact did not watch the last 1/2 hour and don't know if I will watch again next week. I cannot believe how cruel that was. To dash these peoples hopes like that. Like they haven't had enough pain and disappointment already in their lives. I just cannot understand why you would do such a thing. My heart breaks for all those who came with such high expectations only to be shot down after just one episode. I am so upset that I don't even know how to put it into words. I don't think I even want to watch the show any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jerry reminds me of my grandpa so he is one of my favorites ,and I like Tara a lot I could see her becoming the 3rd Female biggest Loser.I was surprised with the twist on the first week but It's also going to be interesting to see who does and does not come back in 30 days!!

HI Ali!!! i don't know if you remember me or not, but i am a Muslim (I was wearing a head scarf and had my 3 children with me) and i met you in Tulsa, OK at the Health and Fitness expo... I started dieting in Mid-late October and am now down 20 pounds (alhumdulillah) with 80 - 100 to go!! I have made a choice to participate along with this season (insha-Allah), but I am having trouble finding time to exercise!!!! so I am starting out by doing more housework... CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY!!!!! I pray that all goes well!!!!!!!!!!!

This seasons opening show was horrific to say the least. My family is extremely upset with the decision to send so many people home the first week. They barely get their hopes & expectations up and then to be thrown out was merifulless and in poor taste. Shame on your producers and to those that were sent home, if they don't apologize, I will. I felt your pain and regret what they did to you all. I was going to use this season to help my husband and I lose weight because we also are obese but last nights show was in such poor taste, I dont even want to watch this season....Shame on you..But you may of just proved that you are a BIG LOSER for those who will not watch because of what you did....Bring them back

I LOVE this show! It is definitely very motivating and I watch every season, however I didn't like the "twist" last night with the eliminations. It made me very sad for those who were so excited to be on the show. For those who put their family and life on hold to make the journey to the ranch only to find out about they were about to go home. Poor decision NBC.

I would appreciate very much if someone would answer a couple of questions. This is only the 3rd season that I have been watching the show. 1) Has it always been couples and not singles? 2) I had a meeting last night, so didn't tune in until just before the weigh-in. What's the story between Carla and Joelle? The gal with the short hair was quite upset with her friend because they had the lowest percentage, and when she left, she said "this will be a test of our friendship." I noticed there was an imbalance of weight loss among several of the other couples (for example, one losing 30 pounds and the other losing 14), and I have noticed on previous shows that a person can work really hard and show only a small loss. Were the statements unfair? One more comment: I agree about the unfairness of sending 9 people home. The person who said these people have already suffered an lot of disappointment in their lives was right. The couples on this season are seriously overweight; they need all the support they can get.

Upsetting start to BL season. How could you break up nine teams in the first week? What kind of encouragement is that?

BL is one of the only shows I truly love to watch, its so motivating. But last nights new season was so cruel and disappointing. To break up 9 TEAMS in the first week is not motivational to couples who made the life changing decision to lose weight. The went as a team and should lose and work as a team. Very upsetting.

Not surprisingly, last night's episode was great. In particular, I was interested by Bob and Jillian's opening to the show and obviously everything they said was dead on. It is doing us no good by watching the show as we sit on the couch with a pint of Ben and Jerry's. It is a realy eye opener that America is the most obese country in the world. What a cast of character's this season...its great to see so many different personalities!! I think Tara is hilarious! I admit, it was harsh to send home nine people the first week already but I guess I see the point. It forces those on the ranch to pick their game up so they can bring their player back and it makes those who went home work extra hard to prove that it can be done at home. Those on the show cant stay on the ranch forever and there are tons of people at home who dont have the opportunity to be on the show and have no choice but to do it themselves. It was clear that the contestants knew that and were inspired to do well. I really enjoy this show and I think that it sends out a good message and I realize that I learn some tips along the way. And, I'm pretty sure that it is the only show that causes me to shed some tears pretty close to every week lol. Ali---totally digging the shirtless Rafe scenes the past few episodes, I'm kinda jealous lol. Good luck with the arrival of the baby and make sure Ben is nice to his little sister (which I'm sure he will be) Oh and get on buying those diapers :0)
-Kristen

Hi Ali,

I just wanted to wish you good luck with your little girl. I hope that everything goes well. I'm sure Ben will be a good big brother. Best wishes to you and your family. God bless.

Shianne

Best wishes to you and your family on the newest member. May God bless you all.

Allsion~ So were the nine contestants really sent home? -OR- were they sent to workout at another location with the former trainer Kim? With this twisted program anything is possible! Best wishes with the birth of your daughter!

Hi Ali,
Firt of all good luck with the baby!! I'm sure all will be great, we'll be thinking of you and missing you. Second, am I the only one who understands TV? Didn't you just tell us that you began shooting in September? So it would be kind of hard to turn back time and change the way the show has already been done!? I wasn't all that crazy about sending 9 home either because, honestly, I like to see the transformations they make in their lives and a few of these people looked very interesting. I'll keep watching and find out what happens (which has already happened) next.

Hi Alison - yep, second babies do tend to come earlier than first ones, but they also tend to come *faster*. My first labour was over 44 hours long, and the second one was 5 from start to finish, and she came through like a freight train, even though she was 11 ounces lighter than baby #1! Best of luck, I hope your delivery is wonderful. Enjoy the new kidlet.

It was a mistake to send so many of these people in need home. This was as bad as taking candy from a baby. What if the first month you conducted the show like MTV's real world. Follow a day in the life of your group in cooking exercising and the medical side of the condition. Maybe send no one home but keep them all shopping, eating, sharing the struggle and reason for the massive weight gain. Use the show to educate the public on how to construct a diet. You have a guy who had his stomach reduced with no result....THAT is a story America needs to see and not sent home. You need to change the plan and lose the voting off the island format. America wants to see what these people can do not just one or two that go into starvation.

hey alison,
how are you ? i am fine. how your kids many ? when you come tues or aug? i nice you meet . please write now.
thank you,

Hi Ali,
First, good luck with the new baby. I have 4 myself. children are such a blessing. Second, I have watched you since you started on Days and I love you and love to hate your character. Next, I have watched the Biggest Loser from day one and cant wait for the next episode. It is so full of hope and inspiration. I myself was overweight and since May of last year have lost 40 lbs and still have a few to go. My daughter is overweight and hopefully this is the year she is going to lose some also. We were in Tennessee at the beginning of January and I could not believe who I saw. It was Phil and Amy. I was star struck. They were so sweet and took a picture with me and my daughter. I could not stop thinking about them for days. It was so awesome. Whoever came up with the Biggest Loser is wonderful and deserves an award. Thanks for everything you do. You are a wonderful host.

Sending 9 people home was such a shock but I think it is going to push everyone harder than before and i cant wait to see what happens. For those people that are upset and say they wont watch anymore, shame on you. You should be rooting for these people. Everyone knows what they are in store for when they get picked to be on the show. Suck it up and get busy. So many people would like to be in your spot. As for Carla and Joelle, that was an awful comment about their friendship being tested if she doesn't get to come back.

Hey Ali! Congrats once again! I hope the next few weeks go smoothly for you.
The Premiere was awesome! Loved it...but didn't particularly like the "twist".
Missing you on Days. You do a great job handling all three jobs!
Love ya and you are in my prayers.

This season looks to be fantastic! I was losing weight at a decent (well, obviously not BL-caliber) pace until last May. I am also pregnant and due on 1/25 -- so I am anxious for this baby to get here so I can get back to working out hard and losing weight. The show is so motivating; I'm glad it'll be on while I'll be working on dropping this baby weight and then some!

Good luck to you with your delivery, Alison! Go buy some diapers!! :-)

Wow! What an inspiring show BL is. This is going to be the year that my husband and I lose right along with them. Sad for the ones that went home already but at least they got a week with the trainers and had the opportunity to learn how to lose the weight they need to.
Alison- blessings to you as your family grows! Good luck!

Hey Ali, you should buy those nappies and pack your hospital bag second babies always come quicker than the first. All the best with the delivery of your little girl.

One week!!! That is huge!!! Congratulations Ali!!! We (your fans - EJAMI fans) are extremely happy for you. Good luck on your delivery, I don't know how it was with Ben but the second time around it's usually easier but just as wonderful... DOOL has not been the same without you, without you and EJ together!!!! To tell you the truth it has been hard to watch, and I know I speak for a lot of people out there... take it easy, enjoy your little girl and than run (don't walk)back to Salem. We miss our couple, so much it hurts. God bless you and your whole family.

Our own family has our own biggest loser competition going on. We started on Monday of this week. At the end of three months, we will determine who our biggest loser is. I think that there are 15 to 20 family members doing this. Wish us luck.

Babies don't always come quicker the second time around. My son was my second and two weeks late, but the labor was extremely fast, barely made it to the hospital. Good Luck and great show! I actually did like the twist. The show always keeps you thinking!!

Ali, you are so cute. Good luck with new baby........michelle

you have been blessed, a girl and a boy, may you enjoy every minute of it. love ya dawn

you have been blessed, a girl and a boy, may you enjoy every minute of it. love ya dawn

Yes..just like many other people, I wasn't happy with the decision of sending 9 people home in one week.. otherwise it was a really good season premier. I felt so bad for Jerry..I mean in the first like 5 minutes of the show, he had already fainted. Sad stuff..

Anyways im looking forward to episode 2

Good luck with the baby! :)

Oh Ali, I know from reading their interviews after the shows and such, that those contestants are always so happy to meet you for your amazing kindness, inspiration, leadership, and hope that you and the trainers give to them and helping them to achieve their life changing goals and healthy attitudes and ways of life! And from them knowing of your own battles as well, it helps them and makes them appreciate and admire you even more, for your courageous heart and successful efforts!

You are truly an amazing, strong, talented and dedicated woman and actress! I know how you were saying on Ellen's show how you were more emotional all the time with Ben's pregnancy and more angry with your baby girl's pregnancy this time around; you're working both jobs, giving interviews, doing promotions for Biggest Loser and there's no telling what all else you're doing with all of that! You truly are Super Woman! And you're doing an amazing job changing lives, as well as staying dedicated to fans that LOVE you and appreciate you and support you so much on DAYS!

We can't wait to see you return to Salem and to the show! It's absolutely dull, boring, and awful without you/Sami! There are sooo many fans that no longer watch the show, because it sucks so bad! I feel so bad for you all Ali to have to go through such awfully boring and un-interesting storylines, like what's on screen now and be confused about your characters and the stories, and getting thrown around like a slutty piece of meat all the time! Just for the sake of yet again, another triangle! It's completely awful Ali! Such a waste and very un-creative, un-interesting, and not entertaining!

But I'm excited about Samantha & EJ's new baby coming! You/Sami are just glowing on screen! You two look incredibly gorgeous! Thanks so much Ali for your hard work and dedication with you on screen still on DAYS and pre-taping scenes; I know its got to be stressful for you! But you are amazing and we appreciate it! Although, I wish they would have given you something more exciting and interesting because the whole witness protection thing and Rafe is very boring! But Rafe does seem like your brother or like an over-protective type of brother! Rafe reminds me of your twin brother Eric Brady! Who you need back in your life, especially now that they are taking your mom away from you! You need your twin brother Eric's love and support back in your life! And Rafe seems like your brother since Eric isn't around or back yet.
~Karen~

And I hope they let you have scenes or a phone conversation or something with Deidra and Drake on screen before they leave, since you started your career with them and she's your "mom" and he's your step-dad that you finally connected with...it would be awful to do that to you and Sami by not letting you say good-bye to your "mom" and "step-dad" before they leave! All while there's the mayor's killer out there trying to murder your character! And plus you would have no idea when you would see your mom again! And not getting to say goodbye to her on screen would be just as awful and bad as not letting you & James/Sami & EJ meet Colleen (Shirley Jones)! With all that Sami and Marlena have been through together and you and Deidra have been through together..."Sami on Death Row" and Marlena getting her daughter back and accepting John, and just so much for a mother and daughter to go through, you two deserve to have a "mother-daughter" good-bye on screen! That would be incredibly awful, sad, and distasteful to do to you and Deidra, and not let you all say goodbye to each other on-screen! It's already horrible and distasteful to have Marlena leaving with her daughter locked away in Witness Protection with someone trying to murder her...and to not let you two say goodbye to each other on screen would be even worst!

They already don't let you talk to your twin brother Eric, they took both of your sisters (Carrie and Belle) away from you, your dad Roman is a work-oholic and hardly ever comes out his office and is the police commissioner and isn't working nearly hard enough to find the man whose trying to kill his daughter, and now they are taking your mother away from you while there's someone trying to kill your character and a psycho crazy and obsessed pathetic woman (Nicole) is trying to steal your life, your baby, and EVERY man that you have or come into contact with, and now to take your mother away and not even have her there for you when you return...that's incredibly horrible and so sad Ali!

Get plenty of rest Ali, enjoy the newest addition to your family! And I think it is normal for Ben to be ready before you and Dave, LOL! He's probably anxious and excited to be a new big brother! While the two of you are probably like its almost time already, and I didn't even realize it! LOL! I'm so happy for you and your family Ali! And I'm also happy and excited for your "on-screen" Brady-DiMera family with you & EJ welcoming another a new precious bundle of joy together!

Congratulations Ali to you and your family on welcoming your new baby girl into the world! And Congratulations to you & James/EJAMI on welcoming the newest precious addition to your "on-screen" family together! And on being the new #1 Super-Couple of Daytime with Luke & Laura! That's got to be so amazing for you & James to be our generations new #1 Couple of daytime and to be right up there at the very top with Luke & Laura and in the same listings with them and Bo & Hope! Congratulations again! And I can't wait to see the two of you back together! EJAMI is amazingly wonderful, passionate, loving, and sooo incredibly hott! They belong together and are the love's of each other's lives! They're destined and fated to be together from their past as Santo & Colleen, to their present! They can't run away from it or hide from it, it will always catch up to them and find them! They belong together!

Rest and don't worry Ali, you're strong! You will make it through successfully this last week and have your baby girl in the world with you, Ben, and Dave! Congrats Again!
~Karen~

Good luck with labor and delivery!!Can't wait to see pictures of your new baby!! So happy they wrote your pregnancy in the storyline, Days just isn't the same when your not on!! Pleassssse... Ej and Sami all the way!! No-one can take Nicole with him any longer, they have turned him into a blind fool!! We know Ej is smarter than that and he belongs with Samantha!!! Best wishes!!!

We love you Alison,

We are praying for you and your family for many best wishes and blessings.

God Bless you and Thank you for being a huge part of my life.

Laurie

All the best for you and your new little one...
I really enjoy watching you on Days and The Biggest Loser

This will be the third time I have posted this but it never seems to show up so my apologizes if this is a repeat for you...

I think the show has changed from helping people to playing with them. I think sending 9 people home after one week was disgraceful. Given the extreme need of this year's contestants you should have truely eliminated the elimination. Shedding of pounds not shedding of tears should be what this show is about.

I am definitely going to remove this show from my DVR lineup.

Adam

congrats on your little girl!

Welcome Megan! Congratulations Alison, Dave and Ben!

Congratulations Dave & Ali & Ben...baby MEGAN HOPE is here to compliment your
family! God Bless you all !

Congratulations Dave & Ali & Ben...baby MEGAN HOPE is here to compliment your
family! God Bless you all !

Days Of Our Lives!!! I have never watched The Biggest Loser but but my best friend is getting married and I need to lose 50 pds.I started watching and couldn't figure out why you looked so familiar.

I just read that you had your baby - Congratulations! I was a bit confused with the last line of the article "former Days star" - what does that mean?

Biggest Loser's Alison Sweeney Gives Birth
By Breanne L. Heldman Tue Jan 13, 11:48 AM PST

Less than 7 pounds is rarely a significant weight loss for any of the contestants on The Biggest Loser, but, for host Alison Sweeney, it was a huge gain.

The reality competition matriarch gave birth to Megan Hope Sanov at 12 minutes to midnight on Monday. Megan weighed in at 6 pounds, 7 ounces.

"Everyone is doing great," a rep for the mom tells E! News. "[Alison] said she can't wait to watch The Biggest Loser tonight with her daughter."

The former Days of Our Lives star, 31, and husband Dave Sanov also have a 3-year-old son, Ben.

Ali, my mom and I are HUGE FANS of the show!!! I am 11 years old and I am overweight and my parents are obese. I was watching the show and I thought of a new challenge. Each of the groups will each get 200 lbs of grocries, the groups will have to carry the food 100 yards and whoever gets their bags across 1st gets all the grocries that they carried and the rest will go to charity. I hope you like the idea!!!
p.s the food will all be healthy!!!

Hi Ali,
The biggest loser has really been an inspiration for my parents who are both obese. It has also been an inspiration for me as well as there is a high chance that if I don't keep track of myself I could end up that way too. But I have a story for you of someone who doesn't watch your show.
As a child my brother in law had always been a little on the chubby side, and as he got older it became a problem. By the time he turned 17 he was nearly 300lbs. That was when he decided he had had enough. He began making himself eat smaller portions of food. He also started participating in sports like racket ball and basketball several times a week. In one year, all by himself, he had lost over 100lbs. He is now 19 years old and weighs around 160lbs. His is a truly inspirational story for those people trying to lose weight on their own.
