St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

I have been involved with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for many years now.  They are such a wonderful organization and are on the leading edge of incredible research.  Especially since I became a parent, I have looked forward to participating in any way I can to help their cause.

Last week I did some on-camera spots to help promote their latest fundraiser.  It's a really cool concept too - it's called the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.  It's kinda like a  raffle, where people reserve a ticket for $100 and there are tons of prizes they are giving away, the best being a Dream Home.  You should go to www.stjude.org and check out all the details for yourselves.

I was asked to do these commercials for the local LA Giveaway with a beautiful little 8 year old girl named Elizabeth.  She is a part of the St. Jude family and was so sweet and brave!  She had no trouble being in front of the camera, and she did a great job.  I really loved meeting her and her lovely family.  With patients like her at St. Jude it's no wonder that the volunteers and staff are so dedicated to doing everything possible to find cures for these horrible diseases.  I was so glad to be a part of this project, and I am so excited about participating in another event they sponsor next month as well.

On another note, Days has been really exciting lately, hasn't it??!!  I was absolutely glued to my tv during the Jennifer/Frankie/Jack stuff.  Ashley (Abby) was so fantastic in those scenes at her dad's bedside, wasn't she?  She is such a talented young actress.  And, as always, Missy and Billy are so fun to watch.

I mentioned on my website how fun it was to do those scenes with Bryan (Lucas) and James (E.J.) in the hallway outside Sami's apartment.  I think it was the first time James had seen Lumi in action... ha ha ha.  Bryan and I always have to let new actors know, that when Sami and Lucas get to fighting - there could be an earthquake and they wouldn't hear it.  The other characters have to remind them there are other people in the room!  Sami isn't anything if not one-track-minded.  Am I right?  Hee hee.

James has definitely fit right into our Days family.  He's such a nice guy and a really good actor.  I so enjoy our scenes together.  I think E.J. is a v. interesting character and I can't wait to see where this story goes.

I briefly met our new head writer, Hogan Sheffer, last week.  He was so nice and definitely enthusiastic.  I had to tell him how thrilled we all are to have him on board.  He's just begun writing for us, so we won't see his scripts for a few more weeks.  We are all anxiously awaiting his material!!  It's such an exciting time at Days - wondering where this new writing will lead us.

Xoxo,
Ali

p.s. Ben is fantastic - growing so quickly.  He was at a super fun birthday party this weekend, and has not been able to stop making train noises since.  I guess we're heading towards a Thomas The Train birthday party too, in February.

p.p.s  If you notice me limping around the set in upcoming scenes - ha!  I just had the toughest workout ever and I am so sore.  I am dreading putting on high heels.  Yikes!!!

Hi Ali,
I am currently reading your book. I am just about halfway through. I am really enjoying it :)
I have a silly question, you may or may not know the answer. What is up with Kate's nail polish? Her first two fingers on her right hand are always a darker/different color then the rest! What's that all about? Hope you can answer this, my friend and I are always guessing different things as to why they are painted that way!
Keep up the great work as Sami. I have been a "Days" and Sami fan for over ten years!!
Thanks!

Hi, Alison, I have been watching Days for a very long time...I started watching with my mother when I was only 5 years old. And, I hate to say this, but I am now 43!!!!!! Obviously, I love the show. I absolutely loved the earrings you wore this week, March 5. They're the linear-type, dangling, with open hearts at the end. Where did your wardrobe department get them? I must get a pair. Please let me know. Thanks.

i think you are the BEST actor ever, you know how to cry at the right times and you rock!!!
p.s. you are my favorite actor (espessially on days of our lives) and i am your no.1 fan!!! I love you!!!!!

I have found out the useful information for me, thanks a lot.

Hi Alli just wanted to say I had a great easter also my kids were happy with their baskets. We used green tissue paper for grass this year and it was so cute and way less of a mess.My oldest was ecstatic about the Harry Potter movie magazine I bought for him. I bought my younger son Jonah a copy of M.Night Shayamilons (I know I didn't spell that right)Lady in the Water. He is a big fan of his and I think for his birthday I'm going to get him the children's book he wrote of the movie. My daughter Bethaney who is 5 got a ballerina Barbie in her basket with a crown and Barbie ballet slippers. I like to give more books and toys than candy I think its healthier, but they all got a chocolate bunny and some cadberry eggs with a few jelly beans. You know you are only a little less than 1 year younger than me, my b-day is Sep.30 1975. I really love your story on the show right now James Scott is really keeping up with you as an actor and I enjoy watching the fire between your characters every day, there is never a dull moment with E.J. and Sammy you should check out the message board on the Sony website its lit up with banners of you and James Scott.Whoever makes the banners is really talented I want to learn how to do that so I can make them for my Dad of my kids he lives far away from me.My husband says I'm crazy for writing you he says you never read these messages that it is all promotional.I know he is wrong though I know you read them because you care about your fans so don't worry I will keep writing. Please let me know in your next entry if you check out any of those beautiful banners made in honor of you and James Scott I think you would be proud they are really pretty. Take care of yourself and your family Alli and make sure the writers help Sammy keep E.J. in line. Truly, Janet

Hi there...I have been a Days fan since it started, 'way back when! I remember when you were really young, nand you have grown into a lovely woman, and a very talented actress! I just ran into your blog, and found it very interesting. Your enthusiasm come across in your entries. It is too bad some girls just have to put nasty stuff in, just because they can, I guess. Anyhow, I have enjoyed the show since its inception. There were times (when I was a working woman), that I missed stuff, but I always managed to get caught up. I am 79 now, so those days are gone forever and I can just sit back and enjoy!

Hi Ali,
Just so you know, you usually CAN'T substitute construction paper for crepe paper! It's not pretty! But you get an A for effort! love you, Janice (an avid fan and fellow crafter!)

hi Ali, my name is also Ali! How cool is that? I've admired you in so many ways for years, first for your amazing talent as an actress, and now that youre doing the blog (i know, youve been doing it for awhile), its apparent to me that you are a wonderfully genuine, and genuinely wonderful person in real life. if there is anything better in this world than a gifted person, it is a humble person who loves to share their gifts and life experience with the world, and who remembers where they came from. I know youve been on the show for a long time, but in recent years youve become very well known. whats it like going from a 'regular person' to a 'super person'? i'm in a band called Destitute up here in Portland, OR and its been very exciting to see ourselves gaining popularity over this past year! i am also a talented (though not seasoned) actress, and i'm telling you Ali, i'm gonna be on Days someday!
This last year and a half has been...devastating and great at the same time. My soulmate, fiancee and other half of about 6 years, Gabriel Desertstar, died in January of '06. i miss him so much... but it seems like ever since he died, his spirit is still here pushing me on, and the band is starting to take off, and ive even been approached to co-host model searches and other events for Pay per View mostly. im supposed to co host something at a Vegas casino with Joe Rogan from Fear Factor!!!
Gabey knew how much i like you and the show (okay... especially Jason Cook), and I would like for nothing more or less than making him proud of me, and to continue to watch my dreams come true before my own eyes!!
So I know you must be so excited about T.B.L.!!! YOURE AWESOME, a great parent from the sound of it, and a great person, and i wish you all the happiness and success in the world.
Oh and hey, if you talk to Jason, or if youre able to, please tell him that hes got a cute punk/ rocker girl up here in Portland that adores him. How do i get in touch with/ send a letter to an old cast member? and maybe you should let the casting dept. know that they need to watch out 'cause i'm coming full force! i'm going to send in a tape for Deal or No Deal so who knows? And if you know how i would go about auditioning for Days? I know I'm good and i would bring an interesting, fun, refreshing twist to the show.
O.K. Ali, if i dont stop soon, i'll have a new book out too, haha, so i just want you to know I think youre a shining star, and i wish you all the best in life, and I'm so happy for you and your family and your success! Take care!!!
