Harry Potter Month

This has seriously been such a crazy week for me. Between Days, Biggest Loser and Ben I have not been sleeping a lot lately. I totally crashed on Friday night – we shot a challenge until 3am. So when Ben woke up at 7:30 it was like the middle of the night to me. My sleep deprived brain barely registered Dave (my husband) explaining to Ben that “Mommy’s sleeping” before I drifted off again. Dave told me later how cute Ben was, whispering to the dogs to be quiet for me. I can’t remember the last time I slept in until 11am, but it felt freakin’ fantastic!!!
Even though it’s been kinda hectic balancing two jobs, it is a tremendous fun. I was talking to my friend about it – she was saying how she would love not working if she could. And that I’m definitely that person that can’t take too much time off… after a weeks vacation, I am psyched to get back to work. So all this crazy high-stress schedule is actually right up my alley.
And really, it only works because both jobs are so lenient about me bringing Ben with me sometimes. Because I’m playing two different roles now at Days, sometimes that means I shoot scenes at the beginning of the day, and then have to change my wardrobe, make-up, hair etc, and then wait for other scenes later in the afternoon. So, those are perfect opportunities to bring Ben with me to the studio. He has so much fun playing in the make-up room while I get ready. And everyone loves it when he visits. Of course, Bryan gets the best reaction – with his “Elmo” voice. Bryan’s had tons of practice when his own son was younger, and he loves getting all silly with Ben.
Today was such a great, relaxing Sunday. Ben, Dave and I went swimming, and played outside. I couldn’t wait to rip into Harry Potter 7, and I haven’t stopped turning pages since. Obviously I don’t want to give anything away – but man, it’s so fantastic. I will have to start over and re-read it as soon as I’m done. Right now, I’m just forcing myself to go as slowly as I can because I want to just tear through it. And wasn’t the 5th movie so awesome??!!! (Is it me or is it like Harry Potter Month? HP is everywhere, not that I'm complaining!) I got to attend the premiere which was just about the coolest thing ever. I felt like I was 13 again… all giddy as the lights dimmed. Afterwards, I was so impressed to see how friendly and accessible the stars were. Emma Watson was just beautiful, and Rupert won me over when he announced that he was wearing a tee-shirt he’d bought yesterday, as he drew everyone’s attention to the ‘Harry Potter’ tee-shirt he was wearing under his sport coat. Obviously they are just really cool kids. Of course, I’m not biased or anything!!
Anyone else downloading Days on iTunes? How cool is that? I just bought a subscription last week so that I could keep up with episodes I haven’t watched because I don’t have time at home to watch lately. So it’s actually perfect for me. And I am having such fun catching up on the other storylines. I think back on how obsessed I was with making sure my vcr was set correctly before I would go to school. And how if my mom or brother changed the channel and I didn’t know it, I would be so upset! There was no internet to find out what I’d missed, never mind tivo or iTunes. Lol – that’s my story for Ben. Like my parents used to say to me “I didn’t have TV when I was little” and I’ll say to Ben “I didn’t have TiVo when I was little!” lol – somehow it doesn’t have the same ring does it?

I have been tearing thru the Harry Potter book also, I'm almost done, but have been survivoring on about 3 1/2 hours of sleep a night..lol. I totally agree with you on the new technology, I would be so lost without my Tivo, I also love how the Soapnet channel re-airs the episodes, so if I happen to have a power outage, or "breaking news" comes on during Days, I can always catch what I missed later...

Alison, I have been watching Day's since the beginning. I am 43 (on July 29)I would come home from kindergarden and my mom would be watching and I have been hooked ever since. you came on the show as a "baby" and you have grown into a beautiful young woman and a wonderful actor. How funny is Bryan with the "Elmo" voice? Isn't it funny when we become parents all the crazy voices we come up with to talk to our little ones. I have invented so many strange voices, but they all love it!! Glad to read that after your crazy week, you are still up and kicking. Hope it is more sane for you this week. Take care girlie!

LOL..you crack me up. Just wanted to send a shout out to you that you are doing an amazing job with your two characters. I just love Sami like this...happy and not scheming. I'm so jealous that you got to meet the Harry Potter actors and go to the premiere, I got the see the movie in 3D and it was pretty awesome. I wish I had your patience, I read HP7 straight through on the weekend - it was just too good to put it down... absolutely fantastic - I cried like a baby :)

wow..i never was an hp fan..i couldnt really get into it.As far as children go, im expecting my first in march!im excited!im hoping for a boy!but anyways!Im a very big fan of "days"! it keeps me on an edge just wondering whats going to happen next! im just waiting for ej and tony to team up and bring stefano down!wow that would be awesome!O and the whole nick/chelsey/jet situation is crazy!everyone knows that chelsey is getting tired of nick and is lusting after jet! even though she still loves nick, she needs some excitement in her life!Nick has been acting a fool lately!can u say control freak?lol.Lucas cracks me up with his attitude towards ej..soo funny.. Hi Ali! I just wanted to let you know what a terrific job both you and James have been doing on the Colleen/Santo storyline. I think your accent is dead on. It's obvious you took it seriously and spent a lot of time learning it - great job! Your chemistry with James is amazing and it's powerful enough to make me believe in both characters you're playing with him. You've successfully brought both Sami/EJ and Colleen/Santo to life. I've been watching Days since the early 80's and I've always loved Sami - even when I hated her I loved hating her - if that makes any sense? LOL ;) We need more Sami & EJ scenes because I love watching you and James together. Having EJ be the father of the twins is a wonderful storyline to bring all the Brady's and DiMera's together.

I'm glad to hear that you had some time off. I can't wait to watch The Biggest Loser. I'm so excited that you are a part of it. I also thinks it's great that you can bring your son with you to work. I have a 15 month old son and I treasure every moment. They grow so fast. Your son is a cutie!

I love the DiMera/Brady and Colleen/Santo storyline. I can tell you guys are giving it your all. When I watch you as Colleen I too forget that you are also playing Sami. I love Lucas, but I love it even more when Sami and EJ are together. It's the chemistry not to mention the great acting ability you guys have that makes this triangle so entertaining to watch. My son who normally takes naps when DAYS comes on took his nap late a couple of days. He heard EJ and Stefano have an altercation while I watching the show. He looked at the t.v. and then at me. I said EJ's daddy is mad at him. My son walked up to me and bowed his head down as if he was sorry for EJ. I was thinking okay those actors are doing a really good job...time for your nap:)

Good luck with everything! You will need all your rest playing Sami/Colleen on DAYS. I know it's tough having two gorgeous men wanting your character but hey someone has to do it:)

hi Ali!.. iam been watching you since i was in grade 4.. thats 7 years now.. and you've always been a character that i loved to hate.. but now i just LOVE you! your character has soo much chemistry with Ej and i'd really like to know some spoilers for that.. lol.. but iam glad you;ve finally gotten some rest even if it was for a short time.. watching you on days is the only thing i look forward to in my whole day... i know that sounds pathetic.. i've heard alot about your experience with working with bryan but wut about james.. whats it like on the set with him.. is he easy to work with? and as of a previous questions (^^) who is a betetr kisser? lol.. thanks for posting a very interesting blog (^^).. love your input to your fans...

Hi Alison. I've been watching Days since 91, when I was 15. I remember your first appearance when you climbed through the window of, I think it was Sammi's parents house. You have always been my fave on Days, even when I hated Sammi. I was so glad when Sammi and Lucas finally got together. They should have been together from the first night they slept together. They just fit so well together. It was fun watching all of their schemes. I really like your hair when it's wavy. Your accent for Collen is great.
I hated it when I missed an episode of Days before the internet. I just had a power outage last week, but online is a great way to catch up.
You are so lucky to have Ben. I can't wait to have kids. You're doing a great job playing both characters. I hope you get more sleep.

Hey Alison!! I just wanted to say that I think you are so great on the show. I have pretty much always been on Sami's side all along (sometimes I feel like her in that everything in her world goes wrong!) I have watched the show since 2001, I believe. I am too drawn to it, I make sure to tape it if I am not home and then have to watch the episodes in order. I am a nerd, I know. And I am also soooo jealous of you because you get to work with James Scott...he is absolutely gorgeous. You lucky, lucky girl!!

I just love that Sami and Lucas are having twins and that Lucas is the daddy!! I would'nt want Stefano for a grand dad, Kate is BAD enough...you know she is pissed about Lucas being the dad anyhow!! It is great to hear Sami laugh...I hope she has no turmoil for a while. Let Sami rest for awhile, we can all gag about the Jeremy character.:-( Alison... enjoy that baby of yours and don't get burnt out on work!

I come home from work everyday and watch it on my DVR (We record it every single day). I honestly don't watch anything else except for your scenes a Majority of the time.. Absolutely AWESOME! :D

My kids and I have some great memories of the "old" days! LOL! I think you look the BEST ever at this point in your career! It's about time they gave 'Sami' some success!! Ali, it's really obvious how much you love your work and that is so great :) I read your blog on your own site about the basketball and it sounds like you had a lot of fun last night and I'm sure it was a thrill!! Just as much as the HP movie (premiere (sp))too I bet. You deserve it no doubt for all the great work you do on DAYS and all the energy and time and love you throw into your characters! And speaking of your characters and scenes, you are doing an amazing job on the show. I really love DAYS, it is really the only TV show I watch with such devotion and you are one of the many reasons and one of the many reasons why I've got hooked. your the greatest. I'm see by the blog that I am joined by many in my love for Harry Potter the 7th and sadly final book was terrific. Have to young girls home all day made reading difficult so I had to stay up till the wee hours also and have gotten little sleep but it was well worth it. Good job on your two roles, two shows and being a great mom.

LOL ~ yeah, I actually did purchase one Days episode on iTunes a few weeks ago because my DVR erased it (grrr!!!)...it was a Colleen/Santo one, so I HAD to get it! ;-)

Harry Potter all over the place has been AWESOME! Now that I've finished Book 7 (and a slightly unpractical "practical" actor's guide book), I'm starting the adventure all over again by reading Book 1 to catch what I overlooked years ago. Did you know that Sirius Black was mentioned in the first book? And the deluminator was originally called a Put-Outer?

As for you being the new host of the Biggest Loser - I was so excited tonight when I started watching and saw you! I love you on Days of Our Lives(also a fan since I was in middle school), but now I get to watch you on my other favorite show too! I dvr them both. Just wait until Ben gets old enough and learns how to record. My daughter's almost 9 now and she knows to protect Days so that it won't 'accidentally' get deleted because she's taken up all the space. :)

Some very intresting ideas and comments. I came across this page whilst looking for cheaper energy prices http://cheaperenergy.wordpress.com My bills haven risen by 35% this year and am now facing yet another increase by these greedy energy companies. (Thankfully I only rent so don't have to worry about a mortgage as well.) Has anyone tried this green and cheap renewable energy? If so, be intrested to know how it worked for you.
