Harry Potter and More
I can’t believe I haven’t talked about this yet, but can you believe the last Harry Potter book comes out this summer???!!!! I am so torn up over this. Obviously, I can’t wait to find out what happens, but it is also so sad to know that HP is at last coming to an end. And I’m not a pessimist or anything, but part of me is already sad as though it’s already over. I was talking to Kyle (ex-Philip) and my friend Carrie about it, because we are all HP fans. And they both feel the same way. Like the day JKR announced the release date of Book 7 was the beginning of the end. Back when it was book 4 and 5, we were comfortably in the middle – YEARS away from the 7th year. And now, here it is… this summer. I haven’t loved a series of books like this since I was a girl reading Little House and Anne of Green Gables. The best part about Harry and friends, is that I know these stories will still be so wonderful to read again and again – and I am so looking forward to the day I get to read them with Ben.
Well, I said I was going to make some more recipes from the Biggest Loser book and I did. (I had a major baking morning on Saturday – see my post on my website - www.alisonsweeney.com. The Portobello “Pizzas” were delicious. If you like mushrooms. My husband doesn’t, so I got to relish them all by myself. I also made the Raspberry Bran Muffins. And as Ben said, “yummy muffins!” They turned out really moist and even though they are mini in size, I found the substantial flavor to be really filling. And you automatically feel so spoiled getting to eat carbs like that!
All full and happy from our muffins, Ben and I ran some errands together. And Ben loves going into stores because he loves saying “Hi” and “Bye” to everyone we see. It’s so fun to see the look on people’s faces when he talks to them. Usually everyone says “hi” back with a smile.
I also posted on my website about the book club I’m in with my girl friends. We at the beginning of the year, and we’re on our third book. It’s been so fun to have dinners and discuss the novels we’ve read and hear everyone else’s thoughts. I love to read but it’s so easy to get distracted or too busy. So the deadlines and the meetings are a perfect motivator. If you want to read along with us, you can check out my post about it and join in the fun.
And with the two week hiatus at Days, I have plenty of time to read, bake and hang out with Ben. What could be better???!! And I’m going to enjoy every moment. Because I know we’re going to be so busy when we get back to work. There is a huge storyline that we are shooting in April – to air in May. Believe me – it’s really good stuff!!! I got all teary reading the scripts.

WOW, this is so cool...I just found out about your blog by trying to catch up on an episode. I have been watching day's since I was 11 with my Mom. Well 17 years and 3 kids later I'm still watching and so is my Mom. It's nice to know about your little one. Good Luck on TBL..It will be a change for you I'm sure.I don't watch much T.V but I'll tune in.

Hi Alli, Just wanted to say that I love Harry Potter also and I feel the same way about the series coming to an end.My sons are 9 and 7 and they are all excited about the new movie. Glad to hear that you love little house and Anne of G.G. also two of my favorites you have excellent taste. Have you ever read Nicholas Sparks author of A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. He rocks. I am very anxious to see what will happen on the show. I am a big E.J. fan though I'm a bit sad he has turned into such a nasty guy wish they would turn him back to being good. I like watching the chemistry between you and the actor who plays him I wish I knew his real name never can catch it. I am really praying they don't kill him off. Not that I don't love Lucas's character with Sammy I just think there is better chemistry between you and E.J.'s character kind of fun to think that Sammy could actually inspire a man to be good lol. I just found your blog after voting for the "green wedding" items. I love that you take the time to do this for your fans - makes you as a person more real! I have been watching Days for MANY years now and Sami has always been a character that I can identify with. I hope that she finally gets married and would love it if Lucas would know about the rape before the wedding. I hate that Sami was raped AGAIN. I think Sami and Lucas are soul mates and hate the EJ intrusion. If Sami does kill EJ, I hope she doesn't ever get caught - he deserves what he gets. Right now your story line is about the only thing I care to watch on the show. The Shawn/Belle story line is getting so ridiculious and BORING! Frankly most of the story lines are a bit boring right now, thanks for keeping me tuned in!

Hello, I like voting for your "Green Wedding" items, it is fun! I like when we fans get to vote on stuff that will actually be in the show, like the names for Belle's and Hope's babies. Makes me feel more a part of "Days". I just finished re-reading HP 1-5 and am about to start re-reading 6 in anticipation for the big finish. I am also sad that this is the last one but also can't wait to see what happens and how she will end it. I already pre-ordered 7, as I am sure you have as well! I'm also looking forward to "Days" in the next few months. Just when I thought Sami would FINALLY get married for good, looks like there will be another complication! I love Sami and Lucas together as friends and parents, you guys have fun "buddy" chemistry, but I also love the sexual tension/chemistry stuff with E.J. Keep up the good acting!
Ugggh! I know what you mean about HP! My husband & I used to read them out-loud to each other while I was pregnant with my twins & then again with #3 - mostly because neither of us could wait for the other to finish. Those are such wonderful memories for me I hate to see it end but like you Ali, I can't wait to share them with my children when they are a little older. Great job on the show, I LOVE the chemistry between you & James! Awesome, just awesome!!
Like the many before me have said, I, too, have been watching Days for years...since 1986 to be precise. That was back when Hope used to ice skate a lot, John was Roman (until Roman returned), and of course before Sami tried kidnapping baby Belle. My have the years flown by!
I laugh when I see you talk about Ben and his saying "Hi" and "Bye" in stores. My oldest son must be around the same age...we also greet everyone we cross. My only exception is that our friendly greetings turn to constant (and a bit louder "Hi"s) when someone refuses to say "Hello" back. Thankfully we live in a great area with wonderful people, so like you said, most people giggle and greet back. Isn't being a mother fabulous?! Best job around there is (though I'm sure being on Days is great)!

You've been a favorite of mine ever since I can remember watching you deal with Marlena and John-- I feel like we've sort of grown up together. I watched Days all through high school in New Orleans, then in college-- my sorority adored Days!
Now I'm in a new stage of life, and I feel so indebted to you and your cast for being so committed to the show. I know that most people flit from career to career, and I'm so very impressed by your ability to employ stability in your favor (as I regard it in my own little world).
I've watched a little bit of your extra-curricular activities, including your stint on Iron Chef! I was cheering for you here in Hyde Park, New York! I just wanted you to know that I went from hating your character 15 year ago to you being the only reason I watch anymore. I have watched since I was 8 and now I am 31. But I will never watch again if you and Lucas don't make it at least for 1 year. If this marriage doesn't take I am done. I am tired of watching you get right there to seeing it never happen. And don't take this the wrong way cause it is the writers and not you but I would like them to do something new with your character. I feel like they just keep recycling the same story line with you. I want to see your character happy for at least a few months. Take care...

Have been a Days fan for a long time. Use to watch it with my grandmother back in the 60's when the show first started airing. Enjoyed reading your blog. Have been voting for different selections with the green wedding. Nice touch to do that. My daughter is a big HP fan and read every book as they came out along with the movies. Myself, I cheated and just watched the movies with the grandchildren. It is sad that it will come to a close with this last book.
I hope that Sami and Lucas will get married as planned and that the baby will be his. As for EJ, I think the scene is setting up for a who killed EJ storyline. There are so many in Salem right now that could easily ring his neck. If you guys have any trouble completing that task, let the Sami/Lucas fans take care of him. Then, no one from the show has to go to jail! LOL
I think it is really great that you take the time (in your busy schedule) to connect with the fans on a personal level and let us into all the things you love to do with your family and friends. Keep up the good work on Days. Your storylines may come to an end but we are always waiting for the next BIG ADVENTURE!

I completely agree with your emotions about the last Harry Potter Book. I am anxiously awaiting the 5th movie, but at the same time dreading the last book. My son (now 13) was the first one in my family to begin reading the Harry Potter books. He was still very young and needed help with a lot of the words. I became enchanted with the stories and have been a big fan every since. My two younger children, now 11 and 9, are also fans. We are hoping that the original Harry Potter film cast stays until the last film is made so we can continue to have new Harry Potter experiences to look forward to!
I feel the same way about the end of Harry Potter. I have read all of the books at least 5 times. I have watched Days on and off since 1996 and I really enjoy your character Sami. You just never know what she will do next! I think she belongs with Lucas but I miss the way E.J. was before we found out he was a bad guy. I have a 2 and a half year old so I am amazed at all you do. Thanks for taking the time out to post.

Dear Alison: In the last three years I have become a huge fan of Days of our lives and have even contemplated in the next year or so taking a trip to L.A. and visiting. It would be a dream come true to be able to try out for the daytime soap and land a role. Tell me, how hard is it to try out? What do the directors/producers of the show look for. Please respond back, I am very curious-and again, it's a huge dream of mine that hopefully one day I will fulfill.
I don't usually comment on blogs, most of my friends do. My G-ma starting me watching Days when I was staying the night at her house. I was probably about 10 years old. (20 years ago) Wow, doesn't seem that long ago. There are so many people in this area that watch Days. My kids even talk about the show. :) I have two 8 year olds (twin boys), and the youngest reads at a 6.5 grade level. He is in second grade. His favorite is HP and for his b-day I preordered him the 7th book. He is so excited to see what happens. I am so proud of his achievements with reading and this year he has set a record for Advanced Placement reading at his elementary school. So keep Ben reading!! As far as "The Biggest Loser" goes. The women in my family have been doing their own 'Biggest Loser' since Jan 1st and we are all so excited about it. My sisters, mother, aunts and I have lost a total of 161 lbs all together. We all chipped in 50$ and the winner on the 4th of July gets the pot. I have been battling weight loss since I was in 4th grade. Since Jan I have learned WHY I over eat, WHAT to eat and What exercises I need to do for my body. All from my Therapist and Jillian Michaels. I LOVE her plan! BTW- you have done a wonderful job with your sugar reduction/weight loss! You look awesome girl - keep up the good work! (With Days Too!)

Hi, Sami - (oops, Alison) LOL. I read where other actors are asking what we are saying about their storylines, etc, so please feel free to tell them I asked when EJ and Kate are going to receive their just reward by being killed, or at least put in their respective places by being crippled. There are enough people after EJ's head, it seems.
The show is really good now, and sounds very promising through the summer months, but I must have missed the part of a two weeks' hiatus. What is going on with that, if you can say.

Finally, I am able to express my thoughts and fanatic feelings about your good talents. You see i've been your #1 fan ever since my son was born in 1999 where i've became a full-time mom, to this day a mother of 3, by the wasy my daughter was born on the same week Ben was born, I still watch Days.
Unfortunately some days are still like a repeat over and over and takes such a toll on alot of viewers, and there been time where I & other people i know contacted Mr. Corday about his production and storywriting but it is of no avail.
Anyway, I spotted some magazine on the rack when I was in checkout isle, I dont recall the magazine maybe it was housekeeping and your picture was on the cover about how u lost few pounds using some type of sugar I wanted to read it; I should've bought it but I had my 3 kids with me and rushing off. Is there a way u can tell me what it was.
I love to hear from you, I've wrote you some many times sending it to the studio but never responded.
I like to kind of touch base with each other ever now and then. My 27 month old daughter loves the Days theme and she knows you as well by calling you, "Mommy look Sammy."

I too am depressed about the HP books coming to an end. I'm just gratful that the OTHER series I am reading still has 3 0r 4 more books planned.
I know you are one very busy lady but if you are looking for something new to read; try Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series. You cant go wrong. ( this is from 1 reader to another).
Any ways...I am a HUGE fan. and I have absolutly LOVED Sami from the getgo. Even my husband who "doesn't watch soaps" adores Sami.(Hahahah) Keep up the great work!

I just wanted to stop by and say hey..I have to say that you are truly my favorite character and have been since I've been watching, like since I was a baby, my mom has been an avid watcher since the beginning and so I watched since then, I think my first real memory of the show is when I was six and I'm 18 now (so like 1994)..I havent watched as many episodes as I would like to because I have school but I record them when I get the chance to.
I love that you are an HP fan because I am too, I have all the books and all the movies and Ive even read some HP fanfic..
You are an amazing actress and a beautiful woman and you and Bryan work so well and have such chemistry (and boy is he hot..lol) and I think you put so much into your work and it shows. Thank you for being so wonderful..
