A little ditty about Jack and Diane...

I went to a John Cougar Mellencamp concert last night at the Hollywood Bowl.  Dave and I had a 'date night'!  We love going to the Bowl, we have a series of classical music evenings we attend there as well.  It's such an incredible venue for music.  And John Mellencamp is so awesome!!!  He played all my favorite songs, and has a great vibe live.  The whole audience was singing along to his classics.  

Ben, Dave and I had the best weekend.  On Saturday we went to the 1st birthday party of my friends' daughter.  It was kinda weird to be hanging out with a bunch of our friends, but now we all have kids running around.  Lol.  It's one of those moments when you realize just how different your life is now that you're a parent.  
Ben loved the other little kids.  He loved watching the birthday girl play with her toys, and she even shared some of her toys with Ben.  It was really cute.  Of course we took tons of great photos!
Sunday, we took Ben to an airshow.  They had static displays of cool airplanes as well as aerobatic planes doing a performance.  We sat on this shady grass area, ate lunch and watched the airplanes fly by.  The loud ones definitely caught Ben's attention.  But now that he's begun crawling around, it required my full attention just keeping him on the blanket.  He hasn't even mastered the whole 'sitting up' thing, but already he's 'on the go'!  It's so hilarious to see Ben's odd combination of pulling his body forward with his arms, and then getting his legs bent to help crawl too.  One of my friends commented that it looks like he's doing 'The Worm' - 6 months old, and already Breakdancing! Lol.

I was watching Days yesterday.  The one where Will comes home from camp?  You know that second scene, where we hug him and ask him about how camp was?  Right before we were going to shoot that scene, I found out that they had added 5 more pages of dialogue (we call them 'pinks pages') to that episode.  It was a crazy mix up, and I hadn't gotten those extra pages, but Bryan and Chris had.  So I had about 4 minutes to learn all that extra dialogue.  Panic!!!  Luckily it all worked out - we did the scene in 1 take.  But, it definitely raised my blood pressure that day!

The scenes we were taping last week took forever!  Ashley (Abby) and I were instant messaging each other from across the set.  She is such a cutie!  And then Kyle (Philip), Bryan (Lucas), Martha (Belle), Rhasaan (Tek) and I were talking about our favorite cartoons from childhood.  We have this one prop guy who we tease because he reminds us of 'Papa Smurf'.  Kyle starts humming the Smurf theme whenever he's lighting the candles on the set.  Anyway, it led to a whole conversation about how they used the word 'smurf' as an all-around verb on that show.  So we started doing it too.  'I am so smurfed!'.  'Bye, smurf you later'. Etc.  The boys had a much better memory for all those cartoons - Martha and I were talking 'Care Bears' and 'Strawberry Shortcake'.  Kyle, Bry and Rhasaan were all about 'Transformers', 'G.I.Joe' etc.  Yup - that's what happens when you're standing around all day with 1 line to memorize!

That whole thing with you and your friends being different because you all are parents now? I totally get that. We were just saying not too long ago at a get-together that the only partying we do nowadays is birthday parties and christenings. Ah, the joy of growing up. :)

I have been watching days now for 12 years and I have to say I really thought you would get married this time! I really would love to see Sami happy! The whole weddings not happening thing has gotten old! Ben is sooooooo adorable! I'm nine months pregnant with my first. I was so excited to learn it was a boy! His name is Luke Vincent. I t made my husband and I laugh(he's a days fan too) that Belle and Philip were going to name their son Luke! They had a girl though thats ok though I hope they name her Hillary! Well I love your entries they are awesome keep us up to date on Ben and Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!

I know this is a little late and all, but I just wanted to say that it's so cool you love John Mellencamp too!! I went to his concert this summer too and I loved it!! He's such a great artist. Ok, that's all I had!

Hi Ali,

I've been a big fan of days for a long time. Going way back to when Bo & Hope were just starting. I remember when you started with days. I have to admit there were times when I didn't like your character but now I am a huge "Lumi" fan. I really hope they find a way to bring you two together.

I had to laugh when I was reading your entry about old cartoons. Don't you wish the cartoons now were like the ones back then. I have to admit I am a cartoon buff. I actually went out and bought the first season of Fraggle Rock now on DVD for myself and my neice's. I figured it was time for them to start watching the good shows. I am also waiting for the new Harry Potter movie to come to the theaters. I am a fanatic. Pretty sad when I am a 35yr old with Harry Pottter PS2 games.

Your son is adorable. I wish you the best of luck with him. Keep up the great work!

Hi Ali, where was I, ...I had no idea you had a baby until today when I read this, they must have done a great job covering it up I never even noticed you gaining any weight. I just had a baby boy in late Feb also, my third. Good luck to you.

allison i have been watching days since the very first episode . it will be 40years old soon i was have been married 39 years so i was 15 years old when it started. love all the characters and miss the ones that no longer are in it .you do have a beautiful baby.

Ali - I love reading your blog! I was one of your first DOOL Fans. You remember me as the guy that you met in the grocery store (back in 1996). I had a great time in June 2004 hanging out at the James Reynolds Basketball Game with Dave and your dog while you played the game. You and Dave are so awesome to your fans. Congrats on Baby Ben. He's a lucky kid.

I am only 14 years old and turning 15 this April, i have been watching Days for about 8 years or more!! :D I have never missed a show and i am very addicted to this soap opera ,and because of this my friends say i'm a crazy girl!! You are really a great actress!! I just started watching about 7 months ago. I saw you on Fear Factor, but I had no idea who you were. It waa pretty scary to watch you. I could tell you were horrified!! I would have been too!
It is pretty awesome that you have a kid. I just had my first on October 23, 2005. Her name is Haylee Diann, and is the love of my life, besides hy husband of course!!!

Allison I am glad they have made you nice in days and I love watching you with Lucas. I started watching you when you kidnapped john and Marlans baby. And every time you get in trouble I know you well get out of it I love it when you get Kate in trouble.
