Love is Ageless

After eight weeks of tears, laughter, freak outs, and breakdowns, Mark chose Amanda.

But does this mean that the "age of love" is only for those just beginning their adult lives? Of course not. Love is ageless. Whether you are 15, 25, 45, or 82, love doesn't care how old or young you are.

I think that Mark chose Amanda because she was more right for him than Jen -- not because of her age. I know that many will jump to the conclusion that Mark chose her because of her age, but after getting to know Mark these past weeks, I know this isn't true. While he had genuine feelings for both of these amazing women, he simply felt more connected to Amanda when push came to shove.

I think we can all learn something from Mark's experience on "The Age of Love." Mark must have been feeling a lot of pressure. No matter which woman he chose, he was sure to get criticism from a whole lot of people.

But Mark followed his heart and chose who was right for him. And when it comes to love, we should always follow what's in our heart.

Thank you for watching... and hey... thanks for reading my blog!

Freak out!

I don't know about you, but I thought Monday's episode was the juiciest so far.

* Mark revealing to Amanda what he and Jen were up to...
* Maria finally walking out of the show...
* Megan breaking down in the airport...

Talk about reality, this was it.

Maybe it's cause there's only one week to go, but it sure felt like the four ladies, and Mark, were all freaking out. Some showed it on the outside with tears and looks of anguish, some openly talked about it, and Mark... well, Mark just kind of squirmed a whole lot. I guess that makes him what you gals call "the silent type."

What I couldn't get over the most was Amanda's reaction to Mark when he said, "it did happen." She looked devastated. I can understand this. That makes sense to me, especially since she's been saying all along how strong her feelings are for him. But it only took a couple gentle words from Mark to have her kissing him again! What magic is this man working?

I'm married, so it doesn't help me, but I'm sure the guys reading this would love to hear what you ladies have to say about the Philippoussis charm. I'm also curious if your impressions of Mark have changed. Does he seem more like a player than like a prince charming?

Let the conversation begin... just don't freak out.

Truth or Dare

Anyone who has ever played truth or dare knows that it can be a dangerous game. If Mark and the ladies didn't know that before they hit the trail, they sure did after Monday's episode!

Laughter, tears, yelling, fighting, kissing... It definitely was NOT your average camping trip! After a few harsh words, Mark wound up spending the night in his tent with Amanda. Neither of them would say what happened in there. Was it an innocent night or was there a little truth or daring going on in there too?

What do you think?

Good Advice

On the show, I try and give Mark some good advice when I can, but I have no idea what to say about Maria.

There seems to be something about the ladies with the letter "M" in their first names. Maria can't seem to make up her mind if she wants to stay or not. Mary cries all the time. And Megan is definitely out to impress... at least I think she is.

But I want to focus on Maria today. In an earlier episode, she said she was going to leave the show and then she changed her mind. On this Monday's episode, she kind of did the same thing.

What gives?

Does she like him and want to stay but thinks that he doesn't like her? Does she feel in over her head and is she looking for a way out? Or is it all part of some weird master plot that I can't figure out?

About the only thing I know for sure is if Maria changes her mind again, Mary won't be there to shed some tears on the subject.

Kissing Girls

Seeing Mark kiss all those girls in the span of a few minutes makes me wonder two things: how does he do it and how does he keep his lips from being so chapped?

OK, truth be told, back in my Soap days I got to kiss a girl or two (sorry, Kelly) and they always kept various remedies at hand for this irritating issue. All the actors had their favorite method, but so far it doesn't look like Mark needs anything. He just keeps right on puckering.

I'm curious what all of your secrets are for preventing this problem. What would you do if you ever got the chance to kiss six or seven gals (or guys) in just a short period of time? For that matter, what is it about Mark that has all the ladies throwing themselves at him. I'm sure our male readers would like a few hints about that as well!

Week Three

How do women think? It sure beats me, and after tonight's episode I'm more confused than ever.

Both groups had to plan a date for the other, and they both went in for the kills by putting each other in uncomfortable situations: the 20s had to go to a children's birthday party and the 40s had to go to an elderly swim class.

I wonder what would have happened if say the 40s sent Mark and the 20s to a wine tasting event or something like that. There's an old saying: keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I guess I just wonder if they made things worse for themselves in the long run by trying to set each other up to fail.

Then there's the question of Maria. First, she said there was no connection with Mark and she was going to leave the show. Then once it was time to deliver this news to him, she changed her mind.

I'm baffled and I was there! Maybe some of you ladies reading this can help me understand the strategy?

Week Two

It's true. Confidence is sexy. And the "kittens" had confidence to spare... until they met Mark, that is. During the pool party, they just couldn't get it together and left Mark rather unimpressed. If it looked awkward to you, it was more awkward for them, and even more awkward for the crew as we stood around watching them say and do nothing. Seriously, for some reason these girls were like that one dude who stands by himself in the corner at parties.

But that wasn't even the big thing that happened this week.

Man, you should have been there when the cougars saw the kittens. Ouch. The cameras didn't capture the real tension in the air. I'm telling you, it was uncomfortable. You ever hear the expression, "starring daggers"? Well, the 40-year-olds were starring gigantic swords, but the 20s didn't seem worried at all - I guess they found their confidence again.

Maybe that will change next week when the claws really come out. From what I've been hearing, it's going to get nasty, and I'm just like any other guy... I love me a good catfight.

Let the games begin!

Week One

Hi everyone - and welcome to my weekly blog. What did you all think of the premiere? The look on Mark's face was priceless when he found out he would be dating women in their 40s. He seriously looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

But I have to hand it to him. By the end of the evening, he was already looking past their ages and seeing them for the amazing women they are. He sure had a different look on his face when we pulled back the curtain to show him the younger girls. I've seen that look on men before, too. But trust me, it's not the look of a deer being caught in the headlights, if you catch my drift.

Just wait until these groups collide. If you're like most folks, you enjoy a good catfight, and I can only imagine what's going to happen when these ladies sharpen up their claws. I'm just glad that my hosting duties don't entail playing referee, cause I'm going to feel much safer watching from the sidelines.

Be sure to check back each week as I give you the inside scoop - and please post any questions you have so I can respond!
