For all of you who do not have TV of this.. Fairchild won! She does belong to good friends of mine and to add to the story, Fairchild's father is Bailey. Pam Helmer one of her breeders is Zack's grandmother! So there you go - what a family affair!
The temperature in the building rose with each lap they took. The weather did not scare any spectators, the house is full to the ceiling!

A Basenji won the Best in show in the 1990s - mid to late. Basenjis are hounds.

How did Redwitch's Reason To Believe (akita) look for BOS? We don't get USA network, so I've relied solely on videos... it would be nice to have streaming video next year! We just got a new puppy from Regalia that has Redwitch lineage same as Macey. He's wonderful at 13 wks. and we're anxious to watch him develop. Thanks

Disapointed with BIS results. Springer appeared to have sickle hocks. Any of the other group winners would have been preferable.

Sickle hocks are where the hock is bent at more than 90 degrees to the ground when viewed from the side. The Springer, #2 dog in America, is most assuredly not sickle hocked, and was very deserving of the win. It was a beautiful BIS line-up any way you look at it. Kellie Fitzgerald did a fabulous job, and both she and James looked great.

I was also disappointed. I watch this show every year and looking back through the years I think the hound group has won twice. I really don't believe that dog James looked any better than any of the other dogs. Gimme a break! It's boring and seemed almost staged that the same handler won with the same breed in 2000, gimme another break! I talk to alot of people who watch the show and all were disappointed about the win. It's really not fair and I have decided not to watch another year because it's like what's the point if the same dogs are always going to win. I owned and English Springer Spaniel and I love the breed but come on. It would be nice to once see some real variety!

We were delighted to see the
PBGV win the hound group which should heighten awareness of this wonderful breed. I too am tired of the
springer spaniel's repeated BIS and would like to see some variety as any of the 7
group winners could have won.

"Repeated BIS"??? First of all, while the same breed, this is not the same dog. And, take a look at the history of the WKC show, and you will see MANY "repeat" wins for particular breeds - especially terriers, and many the same dog! The DOGS are judged, and the win based on the dog on the night. Period. To suggest otherwise is ignorant, and an insult to a man of integrity such as Dr. Indeglia, among other BIS judges. The BIS judge has no idea who he or she will see that night, as they are sequestered. They work with what the Group judges give them.
We all have favorites. As such, we will not necessarily be happy with the choice. However, please show some respect, Ms. Fitzgerald's dogs was as deserving as any of the others last night. And Dr. Indeglia did a great job. Depending on who you speak with, and especially in the eyes of the media, this was an "upset" as Bill Cosby's Dandie did not win.

What do you mean "an upset" because Bill Cosby's dog didn't win? That confirms my opinion that many people are beginning to see the judging as political, and nobody is to blame for that more than the previous judges at Westminster. While I thought all the dogs were gorgeous in every breed, I have long been of the opinion that certain breeds were favored. There is no other explanation as to why the terriers have won 44 times out of a hundred. It is beyond coincidence. Maybe the judge was better than most in that she didn't pick a terrier again. Not that I don't like terriers, because I love them. They just haven't deserved to win as many times as they have considering all the other beautiful dogs there are. I am, by far, not the only one thinking this way. It has become almost a joke if it wasn't so frustrating to the owners of other breeds, and I think it detracts from the prestige of the Westminster show. By the way, I have one elderly dog and haven't shown for twenty years, so I'm not a disgruntled owner.

It would be nice to have a dog other than one of the moment win it all. I personally would like to see an Irishwolfhound go the distance. It always seems to be one of the popular kids are the only ones even given a second glance.
