April 26, 07:00 PM

Good-Bye

I want to thank everybody who has watched the show. Everybody who stuck with us througout the season. Look forward to doing it next season. And keep reading the Ask Tina segments online.

April 26, 07:00 PM

This Summer

I'm on a little break then I'm gonna make a movie with Amy Poehler in a couple weeks. It's a movie where I play a business lady who waited too long to have a baby so I hire Amy to be my surrogate and she's kind of a dirtbaggy scummy person to pick to be the mommy! If this movie blows up, it'll be cool to look back at this blog and say, "hey, told ya so!"

April 26, 06:59 PM

Michael wants to know about working with David Minor

He's a super nice guy. He is my manager, in case people didn't know. He's a big fan of comedy. When I met him, I found out he was a busboy at Second City and I thought, "he's alright with me".

April 26, 06:58 PM

Bloopers

It is such a fun set...everyone is fun to be around. There were things in that blooper reel that I had not seen, but that part where Tracy wanted to dress up like Anita Baker was hilarious. Will Arnett stuff was also hilarious and we had the best time that day!!

April 26, 06:57 PM

Charlie wants to know about my IPod

I just bought Amy Winehouse. Everybody at 30 Rock made a big mixed CD and that's how I found Amy's song, Rehab. It was Jane's choice and I loved it.

April 26, 06:56 PM

Is Liz Anti-Sex and the City?

I think that yeah, she's kind of opposite of Sex and the City. There's a joke I didn't write but ended up saying a lot earlier in the season...when Jenna says "how's the sex?" and the answer was "Fast and only on Saturdays...fantastic!" Which is not necessarily MY personal point of view, but a lot of women are just not that into sex as those women were. I really like that show, but it was total fantasy time...crazy clothes, crazy lifestyle. We're a little more realistic.

April 26, 06:55 PM

How much time do I spend on a show?

Once we start shooting, I am almost never in the writers room. The later it gets into the season, the later the scripts are ready. In the beginning of the season, we had eight scripts done before when were shooting. We hope to do that again. It's hard when you are trying to write a script into next week's show.

April 26, 06:54 PM

Any Favorite Teachers at Second City

DeLillo was a great man and Martin de Maat was also so amazing! I have a lot of fond memories there.

April 26, 06:53 PM

Favorite episode?

I have a lot of favorite episodes. I loved the Conan episode. The Black Tie episode because Paul Reubens was so awesome. Paul did some ad-libbing when he was calling out styles of dance -- that was all ad-libbed. It was so much fun.

April 26, 06:52 PM

The Lobsters!

The Lobsters?! Because their flesh is DELICIOUS!!!

April 26, 06:51 PM

Any surprises!

I was surprised that people who are fans of the show are so detailed oriented. If we mess something up, they catch it. We have some very intelligent fans.

April 26, 06:51 PM

Weird to Blog?

It's not weird because it's no secret that I'm not the one typing. Because of SNL, I actually type pretty fast for someone who's not trained to type properly, and the other writers make fun of me because some of the letters on my keyboard are actually worn off.

April 26, 06:50 PM

Will Dustin Diamond be on next season?

Nope, I have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry.

April 26, 06:50 PM

NBC Re-Running Season 1?

I honestly don't know, but I hope so! There'll be a DVD too. We've got them on itunes or you can watch the episodes for free on NBC.com.

April 26, 06:48 PM

Josh - Shared Habits

I try to share as many of Liz's habits as possible so it feels truthful...someone wondered if Liz Lemon was bulimic...she's not! She just likes to eat. Liz Lemon likes to sing songs from Annie and so do I. I think I have a happier life than Liz does. Liz seems a little bit stuck in a rut, but in the end she loosens up a bit.

April 26, 06:47 PM

The Cast

Judah is really great about the little details of his character, his look and his office. The actors are really good about contributing to their characters.

April 26, 06:47 PM

Jay wants to know about my proudest moments from the show

I loved the rural juror. It started out as one episode and continued. It just made us laugh all the time in the writers room. It was nice when people responded to it on the show. It's nice when you see something as funny and others see it as funny, too.

April 26, 06:46 PM

To John - about next Season

I think we learned a lot about story and the kind of things we want to do with our characters. Having gotten to know the actors I didn't already know like Jane and Judah and Lonny...I feel like we're learning the kinds of things that are fun to write for them.

April 26, 06:44 PM

Funny Shows

I really like The Office which was really funny tonight. I also enjoyed Earl tonight which I don't get to catch very often. What other shows...I liked the British office! I grew up watching Mary Tyler Moore show and Carol Burnette show and SNL and the Larry Sanders show is SUPER super funny!

April 26, 06:44 PM

Possible Cameos

I would love to have anybody from SNL do an appearance on the show.

April 26, 06:42 PM

Aspiring Writers

I would say if you live anywhere near Chicago or NYC or LA to take improv classes...there are classes all over the country now! Minnesota, Austin, TX. I studied improv at Second City in Chicago and also Improv Olympic in Chicago and LA...also Amy Poehler and other friends were in the Upright Citizen's Brigade. For writing, I studied in college...but if you want to be a writer, just write all the time. if you have to take a class where you have to turn stuff in, it'll make you do it...so just do it. I was also a big fan of Chris Rock and comedy wise he strikes me as someone whose comedy comes from trying to get to the truth in things...finding ways of saying things that people aren't saying yet. The truth is funny and there's truth in comedy!

April 26, 06:39 PM

Lorie - Are the Storylines Real?

Well I would say having worked at SNL, I really don't know what it's like to work for GE or really NBC. You work for Lorne at SNL...but for Jack's character I certainly use my experiences working with Lorne in some ways...and the other writers have of course had other bosses elsewhere. We had a writer who had a boss who used to steal her lunch, and that kind of became the story of Jack overeating and stealing Kenneth's sandwich. But that was nowhere near NBC.

April 26, 06:38 PM

My schedule

The show is set to comeback somewhere around the third week of September. It will put us back in the writers' room in late June.

April 26, 06:37 PM

Managing Family and Work

I think any working parent knows that it's just very, very hard. We were working really long days...my husband works on the show as well. We were working sometimes from 6am-9pm and my daughter comes to visit us on the set sometimes. But it's very hard! Some days I wouldn't see her awake and I was like "I might as well be shooting in Vancouver since I never see her!" But we're on a hiatus now so it's really nice to reconnect.

April 26, 06:35 PM

More Rachel Dratch?

I hope it works out with Rachel's schedule to bring her back next season. We use her when we have something good, but we don't want to jam her in every week. I see on blogs that people are missing certain people...like where is Josh? Where is Jenna? There are a lot of characters in play so hopefully we'll keep seeing them next season too.

April 26, 06:35 PM

Robert wants to know about Second City and Steve Carell

I was a student when Steve Carell was a student there. Amy Sedaris and Steve Colbert were also in the same company. It's like a fraternity.

April 26, 06:34 PM

A possible hook-up

Liz and Jack will never hook-up. It's just too icky!

April 26, 06:33 PM

Amanda - Dr. Leo Spaceman and Rachel

I would love to see both of them back next year...they're both making movies and stuff. To get Chris Parnell for this last episode was hard...we had to fly him in. We shot the scene with the blood on him separately from when the women shot their part. We've gone to great lengths to be able to keep using him, and so yeah...I hope we can use both of those guys next year.

April 26, 06:32 PM

Stolen items...

There are things I stole from the SNL set. Once I took a host picture from an old SNL episode when Charlene Tilton hosted the show. We also used to steal Devil Dogs from the old Rosie O'Donnell show. She had a whole case of them and her show was taped a few floors below our studio.

April 26, 06:32 PM

Christine - Working with Jason

It's great working with him! We're really good friends...in fact we just watched the show with Jason and Jason's wife, who is a writer for 30 Rock. We all know each other from back in Chicago when we did improv there. And also John Lutz who plays Lutz...

April 26, 06:31 PM

Chris wants to know about the casting

Oh gosh! I would love to have Emily Mortimer back...was she British, was she faking it? We have been so lucky with our guest stars. Hopefully, we can continue a stream of amazing actors. We have been so lucky to have cool actors on the set. Maybe Liz can date Ghostface Killa.

April 26, 06:17 PM

Blurgh?

Blurgh is something we say around the writer's room and also since we're on network television we can't curse or anything...sometimes we run out of non-cursing ways of saying things. So we started to make up expletives...feel free to use it!

April 26, 06:10 PM

Jane wants to know Why Cleveland?

My husband is from Cleveland and one of the writers from that episode is from Cleveland. I spend all my holidays in Cleveland.
