Let's look at this: A boss named Jack, a brunette with an addiction to failed romance, a black lead comedian, a frat house of staff writers.. not to mention a dig at D. L. Hughley ..
Wow I wonder who we're trying to RIP!?
30 Rock is the continual parody of Studio 60 except the only people who think it's funny are generally blog-induced TV fanatics consumed by the ceaseless drops of big names as opposed to a storyline that actually speaks to people.
Here's a message for Tina Fey - stop sucking off NBC executives and get a hobby. If baseless parodies were classed as plaguerism her ass would have been dragged before the Screen Writers Guild five minutes into Ep1.
Seriously, if we're going to talk 30 Rock at least have the decency to keep it to the level it's on. Don't even compare it to the real writing of Aaron Sorkin. There is not a single writer on 30 Rock who has the brain to even critque the substance nonetheless the rediculous inference that there's even a single cell of intelligence present by comparing the two.

Momentum is always the key (as you guys well know) but in this show you actually created it, built it and sustained it right from the very first few seconds and all the way through, to the expense of everything else! A risky and ballsy move, but it worked. You can get to the rest as long as MO is rolling.
Writing was extremely tight and worked on a bunch of levels.
Congrats on a great debut, Tina & the Team! Now go have some pizza.

After having been head writer over at SNL for so many years, how did you find the transition from late-night sketch, to prime-time sitcom?
when did you find out another show similar to yours would be in the weekly lineup and did that tick you off?
The only thing this show lacks is anything approaching comedy. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before it is pulled from the lineup. Truly a horrible program and a guaranteed failure.

studio 60 is a snooze, 30 rock is laugh out loud and make your pets jump when you do. you are now in millions of dvr lists. studio 60 is probably not.

I moved to USA from New Zealand a few years ago, and became an instant fan of SNL - Weekend Update with you and Jimmy Fallon was my favourite part of the show. It's so sad that you're not there anymore! As for 30 Rock, I hope the show does well, and I hope that it gets picked up on New Zealand television so other Kiwi's have a chance to see you on TV - we don't get SNL there, so most New Zealanders wouldn't know who you are (if we did get SNL, it wouldn't be Saturday and it wouldn't be Live!) Anyway, as for the Jimmy Fallon suggestion - I think he should make an appearance on 30 Rock as Barry Gibb!

Bravo!! As a West Wing fan, I was predisposed to prefer Studio 60 (not that one has to choose) but I found the characters to be more real, even if more exaggerated, because the writing was so much better.
Studio 60 seems like it's simply a mashup of SNL and West Wing, while your show has a character of its own. It's a little like another favorite, "The Office," but still unique and original.

Honestly, I found this show easier to follow and not have to be completely glued to the tv to follow it. I don't know if I'm slow or whatever but I just found 30 Rock easier to pay attention to.
I've never seen Studio 60. I'm 30 Rock and SNL representin' all the way.

Wrong there is a huge difference between you and Studio 60, they are funny and worth watching.
There also may be time for a short trip to Cincinnati. The last time was so magical. Oh how the kids laughed, and squealed as uncle bob went into his slipping squirrel routine. I thought it was a bit cliché, but grandma’s eggnog was starting to take effect and all I could do was snicker to the picture of myself from high school.
