30 Rock Wednesday 8:30/7:30c

October 11, 09:09 PM

Goodnight!

Thank you so much for watching and thanks for getting online with me. I hope you come back and watch us again. Who cares about baseball? Who cares about Dancing with Stars? Wouldn’t you rather see Tracy Morgan get a face tattoo?!

I really appreciate you taking the time to post. Have a great night!

Hints About This Season

Tracy may or may not get a face tattoo. My character may have a past with a certain 6' 5" red-haired talk show host. Kenneth may become Jack's nemesis. Jane's character makes her first movie.

October 11, 09:05 PM

Writing More Movies?

Absolutely! I'm working on one now, but it will probably be a long time before it's finished.

October 11, 09:03 PM

Rachel and Jane

The character played by Jane Krakowski in the pilot WAS originally played by Rachel Dratch, but I wanted Rachel to be able to do big characters, because she's so awesome at it. And once we realized we weren't gonna show the Girly Show sketches on-air it was a waste of time to have her where she was. Jane's great. Rachel's great. I think it's working out great for the show. What do you guys think?

October 11, 08:58 PM

30 Rock vs. Studio 60

We're just gonna do our thing. Our show is all comedy, no drama.

October 11, 08:58 PM

New Show vs SNL Sked

The new show is much longer days because we shoot on film so we have to get up really early in the morning. At SNL you could roll in the afternoon and stay up all night. This is actually a lot more work.

October 11, 08:57 PM

GE's Reaction to Show

So far, they are fine with it. We haven't said anything bad about their products. I'm still waiting to get a free washer/dryer...but nothing yet. Seriously GE...I need a new dryer.

October 11, 08:54 PM

Chicago

I haven't been back to Chicago in a long time, but I do love it there. My favorite place is the Athenian Room on Webster.

October 11, 08:54 PM

Nerves...about premiere.

Yeah, I felt weird the last two days, because it's not a live show. I actually have to sit back and watch it like everybody else. It's just such a weird feeling compared to SNL.

October 11, 08:52 PM

Aspiring Writers

If you live in New York or Chicago or Los Angeles or Toronto...I would say study improvisation with the UCB or Second City or the ImprovOlympic. If you're only a writer, make sure you get your writing in front of an audience...any audience for feedback. That's the only way to know if something is funny or not. Even if it's three people had a coffee house.

October 11, 08:50 PM

Hosting SNL

I would definitely go if they asked me, but I think they're doing fine with out me. It's probably better to have Alec, or some famous person host. Alec is hosting in November!

October 11, 08:50 PM

Only a 30-Minute Show

If this show was an hour...I would keel over! But I promise to give you a jam-packed 30 minutes every week!

October 11, 08:49 PM

Show on iTunes

TONI asks if the show will be on iTunes or on NBC.com.

We're definitely on NBC.com and we hope to be on iTunes.

October 11, 08:47 PM

Creative Process...Show Genesis

I had what's called a "development deal" with NBC to come up with an idea for a show. They encouraged me to write about my own life. That's how this idea came about. Alec is not quite based on a real person. His character is more "corporate" than anybody I ever knew.

October 11, 08:44 PM

Jimmy Fallon

That's a great idea! Jimmy should come on...you guys tell me who he should play!

October 11, 08:44 PM

Acting vs. Writing

I prefer writing. I love writing jokes for other people and all the characters on the show, but I can't lie, it's really fun to be ON the show with all of my friends.

We have a lot of other great writers working on the show. Now that I'm shooting, they're doing some of the writing. A lot of the writing!

October 11, 08:43 PM

Mary Tyler Moore

To the person who called me the new Mary Tyler Moore..God Bless You! But we're not done with the real MTM yet, she's alive and well and awesome!

October 11, 08:40 PM

Being a New Mom

It's hard for anybody to be a working parent, but I'm really lucky because my daughter gets to visit me at work a couple days a week. If I had a "real" job, I probably couldn't do that. At least now I have the weekend off, which I didn't at Saturday Night Live.

October 11, 08:38 PM

What does 30 Rock mean?

30 Rock is short for 30 Rockefeller Plaza, which is NBC's address in NY City. That's where SNL and Conan and our fake show come from.

October 11, 08:38 PM

Favorite Thing About the show...

My favorite thing is getting to work with all these people, some of whom I've known for a long time...from my Chicago days. Rachel and Scott (who plays Pete) and Jack (who plays Kenneth) are all old friends of mine, and they're so funny. I'm so happy we get to do a show together.

October 11, 08:36 PM

SNL Cameos...?

Yes! Whenever we can. Chris Parnell is going to show up. He'll be in episode six and probably a couple others. He plays a creepy showbiz doctor. He's awesome. I would love to use other folks from SNL if parts come up because we're all here in New York.

October 11, 07:58 PM

Cast Questions

I LOVE this cast..first of all to have Alec Baldwin, I still cannot believe our good fortune. He's brilliant. You can see that - you've seen it on SNL. Tracy Morgan - I feel like he's really getting to be full-tilt crazy like never before. All the support cast...Scott, Judah, Rachel, Jane, Jack...all these guys are just great. I love looking around the room during read-thrus and just seeing so many funny people in the room.

October 11, 07:26 PM

Hi...

Hi, this is Tina Fey. I'm in New York at a little party we're having for our cast and crew. We're eating chicken wings and getting ready to watch the show and I hope you're doing the same. Especially the chicken wings part. You may know me from SNL or as the teacher in Mean Girls. And hopefully you'll recognize a lot of people on 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin, international movie star and genius. Tracy Morgan from SNL and The Longest Yard. Super-talented Jane Krakowski from Ally McBeal. Judah Friedlander; he's been in everything from American Splendor to Feast. The delightful Mr. Jack McBrayer from Talladega Nights. The awesome Rachel Dratch from SNL. I love everyone in this cast.

I'll be back after the show to answer your questions.

Feel free to chat amongst yourselves while you watch.
