Good Night

Thank all of y'all who tuned into the Finale! Thanks for logging on to chat with me. I hope I was able to answer some of your questions. Keep coming back to the 30 Rock site for fun things this Summer!

May 08, 07:28 PM

Summer Projects?

I don't have too many projects lined up this summer except for one that I'm very, very excited about...The Electric Company! One of my favorite shows growing up! Me, Morgan Freeman, the works! Just hanging out, spelling words together...you know how it goes. But other than that, my big scary projects is trying to purchase an apartment. Oh boy, I am so scared about that!

May 08, 07:27 PM

30 Rock DVD Release

I don' t know when Season two's DVD comes out. I am already recording commentary for the DVD. I imagine the DVD will be released late Summer or early Fall. Probably right before season three's Fall premiere.

Advice for Aspiring Actors

Hmmm...advice...well, I'm a big fan of taking classes, but otherwise surrounding yourself with creative people who share like interests is good. Especially in a city where it's more accessible, you will find opportunities and create your own groups or perform in a bar for a small crowd. Whatever it is, if you are truly passionate about it, you will find a way to make it happen. For me, I just surrounded myself by talented people I respected that I wanted to work with. And you know what? Thank god I did, because that's how I met Tina Fey and now I'm on her TV show, so it totally worked out!

I just pinch myself every day of my waking life...I'm so lucky.

May 08, 07:25 PM

Arrested Development

I was on Arrested Development. Good eye! I played a waiter in both seasons one and two and I also acted with Will Arnett on that show, too. It's funny how things all come full circle in real life.

May 08, 07:25 PM

What Happened in Beijing?

With all due respect, you DO have to wait until next season, because I don't even know! In fact, I would go so far as to say that the WRITERS don't even know. While we were shooting, I had no idea what exactly had transpired between me and the young lady, or anything. I'm not even trying to be coy...I just honestly do not know!

May 08, 07:24 PM

For Molly- My favorite bar drink

Buy me a Bud Light in a bottle if you see me in a bar. That will grab my attention. Such a college kid at heart. As for Kenneth, he would probably want a Virgin Brandy Alexander. A little different.

May 08, 07:23 PM

Birthday Plans?

NO WAY...That's FUNNY that you know it's my birthday! I enjoy sittin' out by the pool, listenin' to my ipod, drinkin' a Bud Lite. I don't need big parties or bars or anything...just give me a swimmin' pool and a Bud Lite and I'm on cloud 9.

It's so awesome that someone asked that question!

May 08, 07:21 PM

Celebrity Encounter

Tim Conway was so much fun to work with. Matthew Broderick was also very fun. Edie Falco is always great on the set. We always see her dramatic and she has this great hilarious side. And of course, Dean Winters and Will Arnett are always fun.

May 08, 07:21 PM

Comedies I Watched Growing Up

I loved Three's Company and I loved The Carol Burnett Show, which was so fun. One thing I loved watching on TV, which wasn't necessarily a comedy, but TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes...it KILLED me, so funny. The people messing up and giggling and losing their lines and all that. Which reminds me...I think we're going to have a funny bloopers reel on our DVD. We are BANANAS in those bloopers.

Oh by the way, I was so honored to work with Tim Conway...I love that guy! It was a huge honor to work with him. He is sharp as a tack, super great guy. He was so delightful and his bloopers ended up being so hilarious.

May 08, 07:18 PM

Favorite Episode of 30 Rock

The Finale was pretty fun to shoot. I loved doing the Olympics montage. Personally, I really liked the episode when Kenneth gets addicted to caffeine and we all sang "Midnight Train to Georgia". But, what can I say, I love all the episodes of 30 Rock.

May 08, 07:18 PM

Anything Weird Happen on the Set at 30 Rock?

We're in Queens...Long Island City. Some of the crew guys say that the studio is haunted, but they won't tell me by who. Haunted by the ghosts of bad acting?! Nothing tooooo weird, really...hmmmm. Well, Tracy Morgan will crank up his music and sometimes he will play the WORST songs ever. I don't know if it's because he truly enjoys them, or if it's to see what our reactions are to them. When I say bad songs, I mean like songs from the 80s...like crappy songs from the 80s. Not even like the classics like Come on Eileen...and it will be LOUD...like Rick Astley!

May 08, 07:17 PM

Jack McBrayer: The Villain

I would be the most ADORABLE villain ever! I don't know if I could play a villain, I am not that good of an actor. What you see is what you get. Maybe I can be the villain that kills people with kindness :)

May 08, 07:17 PM

Funny or Die

I've not been asked to be on SNL's Livin' 'Neath the Law...not sure that'd be an appropriate forum for that! Those have been fun to do on Funny or Die, which is great fun to work with Will Ferrell and Adam McKaye.

May 08, 07:16 PM

New York VS Los Angeles

I love the weather and geography of Los Angeles and I love the energy and the buzz of New York, it's all 24 hours there.

May 08, 07:15 PM

New York Full Time?

I am in Los Angeles as we speak, so the show hasn't even aired on TV yet where I am. During the off-season, I come back to my apartment in California, but this summer I am very, very, very excited to try to purchase an apartment in NYC. So I'm a few months in each place, but I sublet my place in LA when I'm in NY so I'm not like bleeding money or anything.

May 08, 07:12 PM

For Maggie- Growing up in Georgia

One good thing about growing up in Georgia is I didn't realize I wanted to be an actor until I moved to a bigger city. For example, when I was growing up, I had no idea that I could actually make a profession of that. When I moved to Chicago, I realized that anybody could try to be actor if they tried. Growing up in Georgia didn't crush my dreams, at all. When I got to the bigger cities like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles, I realized this was a dream that I really wanted to pursue.

May 08, 07:11 PM

Scotty Dog...Improv, Sketch, Scripted TV or Movies?

I do love the freedom of improv because I can say or do or be anything, however improv doesn't really pay. Sketch comedy, like at Second City in Chicago, is created through improv, and it does pay so that's good as well, but you do face the challenge of repetition doing it night after night, multiple shows a week. Scripted TV and movies is great, 30 Rock is brilliant. With the few movies I've done, like with Jud Apatow, I've been really fortunate, you get to work with scripted material for a few takes, but then improvise and go off on your own tangent. That's ideal...it's fresh, but you get to interject your own stuff, and you make a decent living doing it too!

May 08, 07:09 PM

For Stephanie- Missed episodes?

I don't really know if there were any missing episodes written that didn't get shot because of the strike. I don't think fans missed out on any storylines because of the strike. I know Tina tried to shy away from missing out on big storylines for the fans. This is more of a Tina Fey question. I answered it the best I could!

May 08, 07:09 PM

Musical

We hadn't done a musical before so it was pretty weird and we had to stick by the writer's guild guidelines during the strike but I do think we did stick to the original intent given all the strike limitations and timing.

May 08, 07:07 PM

Hanging with Mariah

I can assure you I don't have an entourage now that I did that video. It all started when Mariah was working with director Brett Ratner and they were talking about concepts for "Touch my Body" and they wanted to do a funny video. Turns out Mariah is a huge fan of 30 Rock and my name came up. They called me up and I was available and the rest is MTV history! It was very surreal and it was very fun. It's a great story. I still call her Miss Carey, I was too scared to call her anything else.

May 08, 07:06 PM

For Walker - Moonlighting as IT Repair Man?

Kenneth probably would not approve of driving a car like that...he probably would not be too thrilled to know that Jack McBrayer has sexy pillow fights with hot females, but what Kenneth doesn't know won't hurt him!

May 08, 07:05 PM

Dealing with Fame

I am not really associated with any particular charity, but I know autism is big with NBC and I have gone to all of their fundraisers.
As for dealing with fame, I don't get recognized that much so I don't get bothered that much. It does make me a little nervous when people approach me. You don't know who is crazy and who is not!

May 08, 07:04 PM

For James - TMZ?

I'll be honest, I find it a really strange world and I'm not very comfortable with it! It's kind of overwhelming, but yes...for that particular instance I happened to be at a party with Jamie Addams so if you're going to be caught by paparazzi, at least be out with classy people!

May 08, 07:03 PM

For Leftie- How much imput I put into my character

I really don't have that much imput when it comes to Kenneth. But, the writers know me backwards forwards and upside down, and they know I'll read anything on paper, so they'll pimp me into saying all this crazy stuff. I am not that smart of a creator to come up with some of the things Kenneth says.

May 08, 07:03 PM

Personalities Based on Real Life Actors' Personalities?

Good question! In general it's about 60/40, meaning the writers take a lot of what they know about our personalities and put it into the dialogue. Plus they know we're game for anything and they incorporate our real life stories or quirks and put them right into the storyl ines!

May 08, 07:01 PM

Impressive Stunts

Are you kidding, I don't do my own stunts. They barely let me recite my own lines! Just kidding. I worked with a stunt coordinator named Alex and he's a pro. He had to wear a funny wig to match my hair.

May 08, 07:01 PM

Learning Chinese - Ellen B.

Ha! Well, I'm not exactly fluent in it, at this point. But we did have a dialect coach who was quite a stickler, but he worked with Paul and Jane and myself and helped us with the lines of Chinese dialogue. It's a HARD, HARD language. Even the way that it's kind of sing-songy is different...you can't read it flat. You have to sort of sing it...it's HARD!

I can say "Rainbow chicken, I will not disappoint you!" and that's about it!
